Although the actual thought behind this may have been positive and his guest thought of it as an gift, the main reason for this is to promote the whiskey brand. Evident by his constant use of “you can give it to your guests” and “we’ll put the JRE logo on it” he is essentially attempting to partner his brand with the JRE without having to give joe millions of dollars for it. Instead some free whiskey. Joe instantly picked up on this and might be the reason for his cold approach to it all. However if the JRE has taught me one thing it’s to try and view situations from all perspectives. I believe his guest had positive intentions but his brand execs likely were using it as an opportunity to promote the brand or Joe was just being an ass 😂
He didn’t just do a random plug on his show. He did an entire infomercial without even asking him if it was okay in advance. If he would have asked him before hand it might had been different. Look at the episode when Everclear was on. The man came on the show and was talking about his own daughter having health problems with her lungs, and how she likely wouldnt live to see 40, and joe immediately interrupts him to play the "GOOD" video from Jocko Willink. It was almost like he was implaying that Everclear should look at the good parts of his daughter being sick LMAO.
If you're a 15 - 26 yr old kid, you're not going to see how much of a dickhead move is that. Joe isnt as smart as these adolescent fans think he is.

When you're an influential person like Joe, people give you stuff to promote their brand, Joe knows this. Joe is a millionaire many times over and can afford his own whisky, he knows Wren is promoting his brand and he's just allowing him to do it while at the same time maintaining some objectivity and not being an 'infomercial' for whisky.
