My First Time in Modern BANGKOK (I was Shocked!) 🇹🇭

  • If you're thinking about a trip to Thailand, be sure to check out this area of Modern Bangkok! Bangkok is one of the most visited places in the world, and for good reason. This bustling city is bursting with culture, architecture and shopping. In this video, I'm sharing my first time in modern Bangkok, including my thoughts on the city, the huge modern shopping malls, Bangkok's incredible transport systems and the amazing food.
I started my journey outside my hotel near Ratchadamri Rd and Phloen Chit Rd. It wa a beautfiul hot day again on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand. So I first needed to get a refreshing caffeinated beverage before we set off on our journey.
I then ordered a very convenient grab bike to our first location, the pier.
The journey on the grab bike was really interesting, it's kind of like a free tour around the city as you make your way to your destination, highly recommend!
After arrival I felt the hard working driver deserved a little tip, especially when he's driving in this midday sun.
I then made my way to the pier, to buy a ticket and to my suprise it was for free!
After a short wait the ferry, I boarded and sailed across to the other side of the river and we reached the magnificant Icon Siam mall.
Upon entering the mall is was truly breathtaking. A lot of people have preconceived notions when thinking about Thailand, that it's a poor country and people live in shacks. But it's simply not the case.
The Icon Siam is truly a remarkable place to visit, I found inside all the top luxury brands you can imagine and also a Porsche dealership! I'm from the UK and this mall wipes the floor with anything we have there.
I managed to acquire a lovely iced Americano from a store called %. It really tasted quite nice.
After my mall adventure I made my way to Bangkok's modern sky train, initially I headed in the wrong direction, but then managed to make my way to transfer at the BTS station and we went to Siam Central.
Inside the trains is really quite comfortable with the AC and modern seating.
I decided to jump off at Chong Nonsi station to catch a glimpse of my favourite building in all of Bangkok, it was quite spectacular!
After a short journey through Siam Paragon mall, I headed back out into the heat of Bangkok using their very convenient sky walk paths.
I then discovered a shrine and decided to do a prayer there, although I was unsure of what the procedures where, but we made it in the end.
Due to the heat, I quickly popped into another 711 for a refreshment and then back to the hotel.
The hotel I stayed at was called Mayfair Marriott Bangkok Apartments.
I made my way up to the rooftop pool and found out it was happy hour at the bar. After an interesting encounter with the Bar staff I managed to get a Piña colada.
With the power from the Piña colada I headed to the hotel gym for a quick workout, then back to the bar for my free drink.
If you're wondering about Thailand, or just want to see what all the fuss is about, be sure to check out this Bangkok vlog! Bangkok is a incredible city, and I can't wait to explore it further in the future!

As Vietnamese, I can say VIETNAMESE PPL LIKE THAILAND ALOTS
THAI PPL IS BEAUTIFUL, FUNNY, FULL OF ENERGY, FRIENDLY & SAFETY 🎉🎉🎉
In decades till now, specially in last 10y ago till now alots of Vietnamese travel & visiting Thai. Not because our country close, affordable price but natural is beautiful as well (somehow it similar to us) & mostly is Vietnamese ppl religions is Buddhist so that’s why even mature/eldery ppl really like travel there as well.
And Youngful Vietnamese generation also want support SOUTHEAST ASIA ECONOMIC.
Southeast Asian is beautiful & safety, we have almost everything Earth bless, beautiful long beach, sunshine all year long, tropic jungle, marvelous islands, beautiful cultures & families values!!
MY NIECE WAS STUDY & LIVIN IN LONDON UK for 8-9y since she was 17yo.
All her best friends from middle school & highschool, alots of them study & working in French, Holland, Germany, US & Uk. But now, half of her friends move back to Japan, Singapore & Vietnam & Australia. Because US/Western nowadays is full of druggies homeless, thugs, criminals & gunpoint robbery.
They’re racist hateful towards to Asian/Southeast Asian. Blak American & Blak UK is the most bloody racist aggressive violent to Asian ppl.
Ppl can get shoot to dead just because of random stares in trains. The criminals only face 1-2y in jails then get released freely, very softly on crimes!!
Ppl can get stabbing 40times to dead in their hostel room because neighbors room hate them & don’t like them for NO REASON.
Ppl can get bloody attacks for walking in supermall
Ppl can get attack beating like hell breaking spin back & become paralyzed in bed on the way home
Ppl can attack 70 80 90yo ELDERY FOR NO REASON.
US/Western nowadays is become lawless paradise for DRUGGIES, THUGS & CRIMINALS, GANGS!!

Why don't you think positive way, as l am living in USA l alway give all those taxi or tuk-tuk or motorcycle guys more than they asked for. Stop complaining already Jason.

You can go up to the Mahanakhon building, above it is the world's largest glass skywalk. And you will see the city of Bangkok 360 degrees. The ticket price is 600-800 baht because the ticket price of each day is different. It depends on the promotion of each day.

    1. your favorite building is "Mahanakorn Building". You can go up to its rooftop and see the "Thai bay" from that building.
    2. The %(Arabica) coffee you had is from Japan, Kyoto.
    3. Siam is just the old name and actually when we pronounce it, the sound will be like " Sa-Yarm" .
    4. The shrine u visited has the cheper flower stall in its area sold by government. Locals will buy the flower and stuffs inside. Besides, this shrine is quite popular among Thais and Chineses for helping your business and work. My Gf is also one of them, she always come there for "proposing her needs with something she want to offer to the shrine" and If it were success as she proposed, she will comeback and give the shrine what she offered"
    5. Your hotel located on one of the most expensive streets in Bangkok so that high price is quite common there. It costs u much because that street is in the middle between two large parks in Bkk ( Ben-cha-kit-ti park and Loom-pi-nee park)

The first energy drink introduced into Thailand was Lipo-VitanD, a Japanese brand but produced in Thailand itself more than 60 years ago. Then a Thai phamaceutical company introduced Kathing Daeng priced at 10 baht about 50 years ago. It was heavily advertised in TVs and became No.1 energy easily overtaken Lipo due to its good taste and cheaper price. When an Austrian saleman visited Thailand about 40 years ago and sampled Kathing Daeng. He felt energised and proposed to the Thai owner about establishing international brand Red Bull to sell to overseas market. The Austrian salesman and Thai owner (Yoovidhaya family) hold 50% stake each but the management was/is by the Austrian side. A few years later another Thai company introduced M150 to compete with Krathing Daeng with heavy TV promotion as well. Soon M150 took over No.1 while Krathing Daeng was/is close second. The original price of 10 baht 50 years ago was increased to 12 baht in 2022.

Yes it’s annoying to carry around but I’ve known quite a few expats to get injured or die from a bike accident (both from them driving and on the back of a grab). A helmet really increases your chances of survival or no major injury. Just my 2 cents! Hope you’re enjoying Bangkok!

Just returned from an absolutely amazing 3+ week Bucket List of a Lifetime trip > fast traveling all throughout The Beautiful Kingdom from South to points North ... Chiang Mai & Buriram > was a scouting trip as I'm seriously considering relocating > from the World Class Medical System to some of the freshest food found anywhere.... fruits we never find in the West & Veggies too > Thailand an absolute no brainer of a Country to retire to... especially if looking to stretch the western dollar as many are having to do these days.
As for your Siam questions....you do recall the term Siamese Twins... weren't they the 1st World renown twins....from Siam?🤔
Was fun watching you navigate the BTS .. pretty sure I looked very similar to You as I was trying to figure exactly where I was headed... where/when/if I needed to transfer, etc > found the Thai people to be amazingly friendly & hospitable.... even to the clueless Farang from the West who I'm sure tend to ware on their very patient nerves after awhile > it's just soooo good to see Thailand bouncing back post pandemic....major nod to the Government for being among the 1st Countries to open-up ✅👍🙏

8:15 It's not wrong that those people think of Thailand like that. Because in the past we were an underdeveloped country, backward, but we tried to develop in every aspect. so that we can stand beside the developed countries in the world Although today we may not be a developed country yet. But we believe that we will not stand still. We are ready to work together to develop ourselves into a better country for us and our visitors around the world. Come experience the warm smile from us. Welcome to Thailand.

Siam (pronounce something like "Sar-Yaam") was the name of the country before it changed to Thailand. Krungthep is Thai name of Bangkok. Thai people don't usually use Bangkok when refer to the capital, instead we use Krungthep or Krungthep Maha Nakorn. But actually, Krungthep is a short form of something much longer you can search it up on google 😄. Anyway, it's completely fine to use the name Bangkok, since it's kinda the international name of the city.

Jason, I'm glad you liked Icon Siam, but I feel like you overlooked a lot of great things of this mall. It's not just about luxury. They have very amazing food with reasonable prices on G floor (a very beautiful artificial floating market and hundreds of street food in traditional Thai theme) and the 6th floor has many beautiful restaurants with super extravagant designs and decorations unlike any other malls. I wonder if you saw the 6th floor yet. You must.
Also Icon Siam has the longest fountain & light show in Southeast Asia. (*long in the sense of physical distance, not time) The show time is 7 p.m. on Monday to Thursday. And 6.30 p.m. & 8 p.m. at River Park zone, G floor.

Various brands of energy drinks are originated in Japan later on spreads into Thailand after some adaptation recipe, there are many other Thai energy drink brands which is as old or older than redbull and they’re still selling until today. Redbull yes originated in Thailand but the one you drink is Austria version of it. half of Redbull International (Austrian) own by Thai company while the original brand in Thailand is actually call “Kratingdeang” (translated to redbull) same logo, this is 100% belong to Thai company and it’s original version before modernized, it taste much more sweeter than Austrian version.
Ps. you shouldn’t publish those who don’t wanna be filmed though they wear mask, in Thailand people are quite respect privacy of the other without have to mention, people here are tolerate and not gonna complain until they can’t they will shoot you with a gun. don’t try to push to the limit then maybe someday it can turn into South Korea in there you can’t film people with or without mask in the public they can call the police on that and it also needed to blur the face before public otherwise they can sue you.

Some area of Bangkok is posh and modern while some is like a time capsule. Also Bangkok is where 10% of the population live but it contains most of the nation's wealth. We have a big walth gap issue here. Hopefully some of these conforts will be attainable for more people.
