If Republican really investigate the Afghanistan withdraw, all they will find is that their Cheeto Messiah sent Mike Pompeo to Doha, Qatar in Jan 2020 to sign America's first ever surrender to a foreign enemy, agreeing to leave in April 2021 and to release all Taliban prisoners. The prisoner release lead to the Taliban retaking control over every village, town, and city before the election in 2020. Then Trump slow walked the transition to the Biden administration, leaving them holding the bag Trump set them up with when he surrendered.

After being in the military for 20 years, I'm fairly certain that the Navy isn't suffering due to the loss of this nominee nor changing anything due to this outcome.

Another veteran here in full agreement with the OP. Military services seem to be very top heavy with officers and bureaucrats. The process we see here is known as Congressional oversight. Just because one party is in control doesn’t mean that there’s a rubber stamp for every nominee.

Sen Schatz’s words, arrogance, unwillingness to acknowledge the mishandling (at best) of the afghan withdrawal, and personal attack on Sen Hawley just helped me make up my mind on Sen Hawley’s use the Sen Rules to get answers about the Afghan withdrawal.
We want accountability, all those responsible must be held accountable. These people are never held accountable and until they are you don't get what you want.
I've never understood why, since everyone at the top including the Administration and senior military officials, knew long beforehand that we would be leaving....why wasn't a concise and well conceived plan put in place to start the evacuation process long before the DAY OF DEPARTURE??!!

The pull out was supposed to be completed on May 1st 2020.but Biden said no and wanted Sept 11th pull out day. This pissed the Taliban off and they cut off all negotiations.

I just happen to be driving to St. Louis the day LCpl Schmitz was brought home from Afghanistan. Thousands of proud Americans lined the streets that day in his honor, it was such a beautiful sight. I will forever remember that day. All gave some, some gave all.

I learned that Obama was 47 when he was inaugurated & J.F.K was 43 then. Senator Josh Hawley is 42 now. I'd be delighted to see Senator Hawley being nominated to run for the White House in 2024.
Thanks to Forbes Breaking News, I've watched many many clips of congressional hearings/meetings in the past several years, and I find Senator Hawley to be patriotic, fair, and intelligent, ready to represent American leadership and values here and abroad.
