I'm glad you put this video up today. I have a chair like this one to recover that was in fact my grandmother's I have fond memories of listening to stories of times past as she sat in her chair. My grandmother was born in 1882 and died in 1980. She knew something about everything and taught us a lot. May God rest her soul.

Wow ! Believe it or not Rudy, my first project was a rocking chair like this one I was taught at Austin Community College. I have it in our home. Yes my grandma had one of these. At night school I was taught to strip it down to frame. Rebuild it back with new foam, reset all coil springs, webbing, how to insert buttons etc. it was a Spanish guy and a lady that taught us and have an upholstery shop in Austin. They are professional just like you. Every time I made a mistake, they’d make me redo it. But today, I just do auto. I do chair cushions, smaller stuff but no furniture. I don’t have a big shop for one. And my main flow of business has been auto detailing. Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed it !!! Eddie Perez

The reason that hessian is used is that id doesn't stretch like fashion fabric, and is stronger in high stress areas .It is also sacrificial, allowing multiple repairs to be done. Traditionally a lot of metal fasteners ie nails, were used to fasten the upholstery to the wooden frame.

I remember spending my days setting next to grams I would get off of the school bus and head straight to her front door throw it open and there would be grams setting in her chair gently rocking I would go over and kiss her on top of the head and she would turn and look up and at me with this crooked little smile I could always tell when she smiled like that that she was waisted and she was going to have some crazy a$$ story to tell that day about when she and poppy ran moonshine back in the 30’s and how she and poppy got in shootouts with the cops I’ll never forget the day I came through the door and found grams she died doing what she loved setting in her chair just rocking away the day it was at that point I realized I would never hear another one of grams BS story’s ever again so I started telling them I hope y’all enjoyed it 😂

Hello Auto, For trimmers, is seams that either you are a auto guy or a furniture guy. To serve my very small community I do both. Besides, Why would I turn away good money? When I was younger I was a primidone working only on million dollar cars in the 1990's. See 43 years of my work here: rudolphsupholstery.com Now I do kitchen chairs too. Please keep liking and watching!
