I'd really recommend also working on your finger strength, practise it at 50% speed to a click on a clean channel and work on really getting the hammer ons and pull offs to accent. If you can't do it in a clean channel, doing it in a gain channel will stop your progress. Also watch the way Jason Richardson plays, it'll really help you mute the other strings
