Still watching 40yrs later,80s cartoons were definitely more serious then anything that came after .
I'm glad I came across these episodes, I loved this show back in the day and I didn't realize how much of the show I hadn't seen. The show really picks up the story telling and the action.
Great episode....but sound is lost from 17:44 to 20:30 the most important part of the story :(

Venger must've done some serious genealogical research to be certain that the outcome of the Nazis winning WWII would be that none of these kids would be born. I'd guess a more plausible outcome would be that they would never have taken seats in that ride at the amusement park.

It's not a hard leap when you consider the brutal efficiency of the Nazi horror machine... and then realize that this was what those foul people were able to accomplish while fighting a war on two fronts. If they had ever achieved a standoff long enough to regroup they likely would have reprioritized and more fully systematized their ethnic cleansing. And remember that it wasn't only prisoners and Jews that were purged-- as if that wasn't terrible enough-- but it was also Catholics, homosexuals, Roma, the disabled.... and anyone else too sick to work. Millions lost by the time the camps were liberated in 1944. If it had gone on?! Between this and the meatgrinder of Red Army sacrifice it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that fully one in six European men might have been dead by 1944. Hug your grandparents, everyone.

As an old school D&D guy, I cannot help but notice that the dragon used his breath weapon more than 3 times.
Such a fantastic cartoon. It hasn't aged and the kids are still as relevant today. Such a shame today's kids have such a load of rubbish. We have this!

That first pilot is Ace from Gijoe who came through the “Worlds without ends” portal from 1 of the original Gijoe cartoons! 😄 This was 1 of the best cartoons ❤️ it’s a shame they canceled it after only 27 episodes! I read that parents started complaining because they killed one character in the cartoon & some kid ended up killing himself, I think because of playing the game..

Very interesting episode, I love the time travel element in this one. Josef's story is an example of how people can be just and have hearts even if they are fighting for the wrong side.Would have been cool if the gang encountered the other imprisoned warriors too.

There were plenty of people in Nazi Germany who despised Hitler and his inner circle of leaders. The 20 July 1944 assassination attempt by Claus von Stauffenberg and other members of the Wehrmacht, one of the greatest examples of resistance against tyranny from within.
He has an interesting accent, sounds a bit like he was from Alsace...

1 problem with this episode, venger plans to give a nazi pilot a jet engine plane to turn the tide of war and change history, but the nazis had actually already developed jet engine planes with more powerful weapons like heat seeking ballistic missles , hitler thought he was going to quickly win the war and didnt think it was necessary to let his scientists continue developing what they were making. also our government had spies working with them to ensure these advancements werent put to use during world war 2 and after we took their scientists to form our NASA and their O.S.S spies formed our CIA
Zach Trevors not denying your point, but still a functioning jet like that introduced at that time would turn the tide of battle and possibly the war, 1945 Anti aircraft couldn't touch the thing, so reconnaissance alone it is a Huge advantage, combatwise it will tear through any other fighter available like a hot knife through butter

The Nazis lost for many reasons, and want of a futuristic jet-fighter with laser beams was not among them. By 1945, it was all over except for the dancing.

I had thought. If Josef went back to the present would he be arrested and charged on war crimes? I remember they were charging everyone no matter how large or small their role was in the regime.

Well its happened already, but I do believe that's too far. Just like Josef, both forces had fighters that wanted no part. As soon as Hitler was dead they should have been meticulous with punishment instead of tarring them all with the same brush.

@@kevinerose Soldiers whom weren't Nazi party members were given amnesty in the immediate postwar Europe, especially if they surrendered to the Americans/British. Also Dungeonmaster said he joined the resistance.
That’s not accurate. Waffen ss soldiers were guards at the Nuremberg trails. For the most part the only low level officers or soldiers that caught charges were at the camps.

To clear up some things about this episode: Yosef was not a Nazi. He's a pilot in the Luftwaffe, the air force of Nazi Germany, part of the Wehrmacht, Germany's military forces. Nazis were members of the Nazi Party, and organisations such as the SS. It was known that the Wehrmacht and the SS actually hated each other. Not all Germans, including those in the Wehrmacht, liked Hitler. They viewed the SS as honourless middle-class bullies and thugs, while the SS perceived the Wehrmacht as a bunch of upper-class "holier than thou" aristocrats, relics of the former Weimar Republic of Germany. The cross on Yosef's plane and the armband was the Balkenkreuz, used in WWI. It is not a swastika.
Right but they STILL faught for a fascist regime and many of them despite not being Nazi members were still racists, sexists, and shared many of the same antisemitic beliefs as the Nazis. Not saying they should be held accountable to everything the Nazis did but...they were still COMPLACENT in the regime.

As Patton correctly put it, most Germans joined the National Socialist Party (Nazi) in the same way Americans are Republicans and Democrats. He wasn’t equating the Democrats or Republicans to Nazis but rather saying that was the only option available to get ahead in Germany.
As a retired professor and historian put it to me regarding why Germany followed Hitler and the Nazis: “If you are drowning in the ocean (as Germany was after WW1) and somebody throws you a line, you are not going to hesitate and ask questions. When you find out there is a hook in it, it’s too late.”

Looking into the show first time 2023, while it definitely plays out like an 80s Saturday morning cartoon, it’s definitely successful at advertising the gameplay and mechanics of early 1980s dnd.

Both a brilliant idea and short thought out plan. If you you think for 2 seconds this plan would cause more problems than it would fix.
First you would have to treat this plane like a nuke. The moment you fire those missiles your stuck with a plane you could refuel or restock.
The audio in this episode isn't the best but the visual is some of the best I've seen in those old cartoons of the 1980's

I think the young ones didn't recognize the type of military jet. If it came from an advanced future where laser beam weapons are standard on these vehicles. There was a serious flaw with Venger's time plan if Josef would have brought that advanced plane to WW2 , how would the Luffewaffa do the maintenance or refueling or rearming necessary repairs to keep advanced tech running after missions. Illogical

This shit was crazy. Venger literally captures a NAZI PILOT to send him back and destroy the allies. The way the camera holds on DIANA's face full of tears when he says, "You're parents will have never met." Goddamn, this was some heavy shit for an adult to ponder, nevermind a child!

So in this episode, Dungeon Master put our adventurers in yet another unnecessary peril. This time, they had no control over there destiny. Yosef, a Nazi, had to save them.

are the sound people and voice actors are probably the same as the transformers cartoons.....the music sounds exactly the same, and the bad guys voice resembles that of megatron.
the persion who voiced Venger also did Optimus Prime in Transformers (the origional series, several other series and all the films) and many other voices roles, but not Megatron.
Frank Welker who did the voice for Megatron in the origional Transformers series did the voices for Uni and Tiamat in this series

Imagine a DnD campaign (in any of the established settings) were the party gets sucked in by a random, spontaneous portal that dumps them into some secret nazi occult research laboratory after some ritual mixed with weird science actually works to the disbelief of skeptical nazi officials present. They (the party) would either have to fight their way out, be very though because the Nazis have guns, grenades and even some prototype *"wonder weapons"* (think Wolfenstein) or else surrender, the Nazis would want to study the strange creatures that appeared from the portal alive (for now..) and even interrogate them (could choose to translate languages with spells or not), later being rescued by allied forces that assaulted the compound. Imagine the nazis or allies reactions to fantasy races like elves, dwarves, tieflings, slimes, goblins, bugbears, crab people and ect, whatever the players picked. Imagine how freaky it would be for humans from different universes meeting each other too.
Imagine them, the party meeting president Franklin D. Roosevelt!
