    This was my favorite cartoon growing up. Just couldn't believe that like a couple of years ago I learned that Venger is Dungeon Masters son and also Dungeon Master could send the kids back home at anytime, but he needed their help to turn Venger back to good which eventually happened. Also, found out that Dungeon Master has a daughter too. Little guy was busy. lol

      Sources please? I too watched this growing up. I just never knew if I caught all the shows or the wrap up. It was a sort of cathartic feeling watching this, as I played DND alone back then. I hoped my family or anyone would see me as I am, but they didn't. They told me I was shy and would grow out of it, why would you let someone do shyness until they are 40-something? Why, just why?

    Can't help but feel this is all TOTALLY Dungeon Masters' fault for not explaining WHY they shouldn't open the box (or for asking them to retrieve it in the first place).

    • @vermiciosknid9629
      @vermiciosknid9629 Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe he should have but remember he knew Eric asked permission to open it then he turned to Hank so I think you percussion from a leader to open it and Hank didn't say he couldn't. Dungeon Master probably thought they'd know better than to open it after Zandora's box.

    • @michelvanderlinden8363
      @michelvanderlinden8363 Před 3 lety +11

      Of course its all his fault. If you look at the red line of the story over the course of several episodes, you can tell he has many things planned out. This episode and Dragons Graveyard highlight this the very best.
      We all know the Dungeon Master has only one objective; to redeem his son, Venger, and have him become his old, good self again. But for one reason or another he cant do this by himself (which is possibly because Venger betrayed him). Now, we know he needs the children to do this for him. But how? By training them. While Hank is considered the leader, Dungeon Master uses this event to remind everyone that not only is Hank the leader, but also to remind Hank himself that he IS the leader, and as a leader he should act responsibly. "Never abandon your leadership Ranger, nor hope". As we learn in the final written episode Requiem, the group has a major falling out between Hank in group 1, and Eric in group 2. Hank needs to believe in himself and follow through, and Eric needed to realise, finally, that Hank deserves the benefit of all doubt.
      Now, there's another thing DM needs to do to have Venger redeem himself, and that is to break ties with the Evil One. And look at that, DM happens to have a beacon somewhere, and Venger absolutely does NOT want that beacon to be activated... because Venger has failed in destroying DM, something he was tasked to do. And DM guessed correctly in that the Evil One would not tolerate failure like this. In other words, it forces Venger to break ties there as well. Meaning Venger is alone now, out of reach of the Evil One, And this sets in motion the events of Requiem, where DM slyly manipulates Venger into making a challenge DM prepared for a long time ago.
      Dungeon Master took several gambits and risks, but he was ultimately ALWAYS in control. I mean... he is the dungeon master after all :D

    When I saw this on TV I was concerned about what it was teaching kids about other universes and evil beings that rule them. Still, a very exciting episode, even if it was just a little overblown for what made a proper antagonist for the kids. Great animation production values, too. To see something like this on TV for free just made me feel a bit honored that people put this much effort into their production. I feel like cartoons today are just an overwhelming attention cacophony.
