    I loved this show so much. The idea of a naturally enchanted material like Star Metal was cool. I pushed my brothers to an idea where we were some of the last decedents of Xanthis and after thousands of years Set was trying to come back to Earth. I was a fire master and my brothers were air and earth masters. We each designed a staff, came up with magic pets, and Star Metal weapons. Being the oldest i decided to take two weapons. A Star Metal sword like Conan's and Star Metal gauntlets so I could literally punch the serpent men back to their dimension.

    Wrath-Amon - The evil sorcerer who currently leads the Snake Cult as its high priest and the personal enemy of Conan. He was originally a large gila monster who was transformed into a serpent-man like creature who overthrew his own master, Ram-Amon, the previous high priest of the Snake Cult, after taking his Black Ring and now has the mission to free his god Set with the help of the Star Metal. Conan's grandfather states that his evil was legendary, that he is feared by kings and that he possesses so much power as the high priest. But he only fears Set who is his deity to whom he is the high priest. He led the attack on Conan's village where he turns Conan's family into living stone instead of killing them in the original storyline. Like Thoth-Amon in Conan, he is powerless without his black ring and its destruction would cause the spell of living stone on Conan's family to be undone. In the series finale, Wrath-Amon was empowered by Set before Conan reverts him back to his original form with the Amulet of Vathelos.

    Any actual thoughts on Wrath Amon as a villain? I would need to watch more of the show so all I can say is while Scott McNiel's chewing the scenery is pretty narmish, I will give credit to Wrath Amon as a villain that he actually got some victories.

    • @GeorgeAddison87
      @GeorgeAddison87 Před 5 lety +9

      He's an entertaining and powerful head villain and McNeil is typically awesome voicing him. Some of his comedic interaction with Dregs is gold. Although I'm a bit mixed on the origin story he got here in Season 2: the fact his evil was infused through a spell and that he was originally a gila monster (meaning a less evolved lifeform than Dregs) kinda took away some interest from the character and any possibility to give him much dimension nor any great layers. I think Ram-Amon is the most intriguing character in some ways: being a human serving the Snake cult makes him more of an anomaly and it would have been cool to find more about his past. His constants shifts of alliance and subtler plots also make him more surprising.

      @@GeorgeAddison87 From what I have seen the show had plans for another season, it just never materialized. Hence Ram-Amon escaping in the finale, it was meant to set up him as the new main villain.

    • @GeorgeAddison87
      @GeorgeAddison87 Před 5 lety +4

      @@dragonstormx That's what I think as well. The show left some loose ends, also considering Mesmira ran away with the remains of the Black Ring. I would've liked to see the developments of this, with possibly Windfang becoming a servant to one of them in order to have his humanity restored. Windfang and Skulkur disappearing before the finale was kinda strange, which makes me think the writers had plans to expand their storylines in a future series. Ram-Amon being Set's servant in the final climax, after WA's destruction, was also telling about how big he was supposed to get, methinks.

      Thoughts on Wrath-Amon?
      An okay design, but the snake-shoes were way too silly, in fact, 3:07 to 3:09 was when he looked his best to me.
      Speaking of, as best as I can tell, it was the Black Ring itself that allowed Wrath-Amon that (vaguely) human form, as shown by the last two instances when it was taken from him, and he really seemed to despise his Lizardman form, which IMHO gave Conan and Co extra ammunition to use against him, especially when they realised just what he was in 'Torrinon Returns'.
      To add, when you consider how he became Set's Chief Servant (namely overthrowing his predecessor who made him that skilled and cunning), that might explain why he had hardly any competent underlings. He couldn't take the risk of someone deposing him in the same manner he did. Hence the hopelessly useless Dregs, and unskilled Serpent-men.
      Appears to be capable of forming quite good plans, but, is less skilled when it comes to on-the-spot thinking/reacting, though even with that shortcoming, was able to score a win or two, most notably when he duped the Cimmerians and Vanir into warring with each other, and swiping all their Star-Metal in the process. And the Bad Future episode where he actually did succeed in killing Conan - though thanks to Time Travel, that outcome was prevented.
      While extremely loyal to Set, how much of that is genuine, and how much is his having little choice in the matter (mainly for the reason given above) I'm less sure about. He relies on Set, and his good graces to maintain his position, his power, his authority. Without that, what does he have?
      And consider that it was Conan who was (albeit accidentally) responsible for all this. His own trip back in time, to before Wrath-Amon's creation, creating a scene that compelled Ram-Amon to remake the Gila Monster Lizard into a Humanoid Lizardman, who in turn usurped his position within Set's Hierarchy, which over 200 years later would set in motion the chain of events that led to all this.
      You have to admit, he was a surprisingly complex and multi-layered Villain, especially given the target demographic.
