I've followed Max since the very first videos in Vietnam. He was so awkward and uncomfortable when speaking to the locals in the early stages but now he is a big wow.
Bruh...born in Vietnam but grew up in the states. I'm actually jealous and proud of how well you speak the mother tongue now Max. Good on you dude. Motivates me to preserve what I have and relearn what I've lost.
Don’t be took hard on yourself. We Asians growing up overseas have a lot to deal with, always in between cultures, not accepted fully from either sides full blown or micro level racism. We’re not white enough or Asian enough from the mother land. Whereas white people get tons of praise and compliments just because they not Asian looking.
These days Max had to keep bargaining to pay when eating at the local. This shows how popular Max has become in the hearts of the locals. I truly believe that when you do a good deed, you will receive tons of good luck at some point in the future. This is where Max's past good deeds start paying off. Max has a history of supporting people who suffered from the flood in Central Vietnam a few years ago. He's also been supporting the locals everywhere he goes. He has also been making efforts to learn Vietnamese and use the right pronoun (con/ em) when speaking to elderly people. This also helps him score points and win the hearts of Vietnamese people. What goes around comes around. It is so true. If Max were just a new tourist visiting Vietnam, I don't think Max would have to worry about bargaining to pay, but he may have to bargain to pay less, or at least to not get scammed 😂 But since Max has become so Vietnamese, he's even insisting to pay, that's why Vietnamese people want to give him free meals. I have been Max's viewers before Max celebrated the first Tet in Vietnam. I'm happy to see how much Max has grown as a person while living in this country. In America, there probably isn't a translation for the pronoun "con" when speaking to the elderly. I'm very pleased and surprised to hear Max learned how to use it.
You are doing a lot for these businesses with these videos. They appreciate you so much with the exposure. Every single place you go now they are like it’s on the house. They are very grateful. Love to see it
I was born in VN but have been in the States most of my life. I like watching Max because he makes an effort to enjoy the Vietnamese culture and language. Vs another channel I used to watch where the host spent many years in Vietnam and don't even make an effort to speak the language. The other show starts with Best.., but I won't call it out. Also, Max knows the local places well and share them. I'm booking these places for my next visit. I like this humble shows Max. Keep it up sir.
Expensive Little Brother - Going to say goodbye and thank you to Ba before leaving is a legit VN move and really shows deep understanding of the values of respect and appreciation for elders embedded in the culture. Subtle to many who do not understand what you did would not be optional for those raised in the traditional ways. Treating the older generations well is emphasized to us as early as when we are toddlers (hence why the language is so particular about pronouns). Well done in showing not just the food, but also a small slice of what adds up to define the Vietnamese culture.
It was funny to use Max's quote on our recent getaway. Our server name is Max, and I told him it could be translated as expensive in Vietnamese. Our server sticked out his chest and said: I am expensive. Very high maintenance!
The owner is just SO cute!!!! OMG! I love it! The banter is just o wholesome and full of good vibes! I have happy tears!!!!!!!!! I love these interactions And the food looks so delicious!!!!!!!!!!!
Trời ơi , Max nói tiếng Việt giỏi quá trời rồi . So với năm ngoái , tiến bộ rất nhiều . Còn Chris thì nói thông thạo rồi , giọng Bắc đặc sệt . Max nói giọng Nam , he he .😍🤩👍👍
Hi Max & Chris, you guys are both Movie stars in Vietnam. You guys are famous and well know in the Vietnamese community. You guys have earned your reputation well. Excellent jobs guys!!! That's so awesome Guys!!!! Well done! All the best travel in Vietnam! Enjoy what Vietnam has to offer. Be safe! Have fun!!! God blessed! ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Love you guys . I am Vietnamese but did not come back to VN since 06 . My last trip to VN was 06 . I left my country 30 years ago and living in Southern California . My husband is Caucasian but can’t speak Vietnamese like you . Hopefully I will go back to VN soon so my kids can see my country
the way Max before he records food video is connecting to owner n staff there, that's the best way of doing any businesses. funny Max got short talks with Sweden uncle !
Hi Max ( and please say hi to Chris, really enjoy when you work together!), great video, the food looked so delicious and the people lovely 😊! A request for your consideration; when you introduce a dish, such as Com Tan, might you say what the dish is (generally, as I understand dishes can vary from region to region) so viewers not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine can get a feel for what we are about to see? Thanks, please keep up the great work, always look forward to the posts from you and Chris!
Wow! Your pronunciation is getting really good! You have improved since last year… great job getting immersed into the culture and language. Your Korean pronunciation is pretty good too.
My wife and I are here visiting the country, Da Nang has the best flavor and taste with their dishes! Appreciate your passion and dedication to Vietnam!

I’m heading back to saigon next week and I’m binging on your videos! Thank you so much for sharing Vietnamese food with the world! I was wondering do you know any good bánh cuốn place in Saigon?
Wow your channel show a lot of different types of "Com Tam". I lived in HCM since i was born and i only tasted the basic one which is "suon, bi, cha". Your videos encourage me to try more!
Max, that food look unbelievably tasty and homemade, wow oh wow. Will check it out when I get to Vietnam, hopefully within the next year. Thank You for sharing, and always nice to see you and Chris "Shining Wala" with you on some of your vlogs as well. Stay healthy, Happy and Safe, my friend. (She may only open at 4pm-6:30pm, but they probably start food prep at 4am!)
Duuude try norway! I had regular Pho yesterday 22$ usd and 1 normal size Banh Xeo 25$ hahahahahah ice coofee was 8$, 55$ for 1 meal on a very basic cafe/resturant
@@welovedji1116 I expect it to be expensive in Norway, so $22 sounds alright as Californians tell me it's $20 there now...that's just crazy as that's where the biggest Vietnamese population happens to be in the US. I heard 1 lb of water spinach is $10. Wow.
