I'm really pleased to see the StudyTube Project not just aiming to educate, but also to support students in other ways with their education and all that comes with that. Thank you for talking about this! ❤️

Absolutely!! How can our minds absorb so much information if we don’t look after it? Education isn’t just the challenge of studying, but all the hard days and friendships and good days and so much more!! If I’ve learnt one thing in lockdown, it’s that life is more than exams. I knew that before, but now I feel it as well

Mental health is such an important topic and is often skipped over and not emphasised heavily enough in relation to academia so thank you for making this video and bringing such important information to light! 💕

Great tips Viola, especially the suggestion to get out. Get out of the daily rut and distractions by getting outside, going to a coffee shop or other place you enjoy etc. Get away from distractions and things that keep you “stuck in your mind.” Sometimes fresh air, meeting with a friend somewhere, going to the gym, having a run, indulging in a treat outside of your home or class etc will not just help you feel better but will allow you to think about things without getting as overwhelmed as being in the same place and having all the distractions, especially if you do it without looking at electronics. The children and I take a walk almost every day, even if tired, in order to get that break away. One thing I would suggest, however, is making Tip 8, Tip 1. Seeking out help is the BEST way to figure out your options and to figure out what you can control and what you cannot and then make plans to gain control over what you are able. Sometimes things may feel completely out of control but input from an outside thinker may help you to find a way through you never thought before. Whether that helps comes from a family member, a friend, or a professional, EVERYONE has had feelings of grief, deep saddness, being overwhelmed, and other such things and MANY people have dealt with deep mental health issues too. Talking to someone else is the first step in getting back on the better or best track for you. I don’t say “right” track because there is no “right or wrong,” when it comes to YOUR personal mental health (and NO ONE should say as much), but better to best track for YOU is possible. Sometimes one way won’t work well for you, but another will. Don’t give up. We have ALL struggled at some point or another, even the professionals. Seek help if it becomes all too much but even if it is only something light, a problem shared is a problem halved, if shared with someone who truly cares for your well being.

I absolutely agree Rose! I think getting fresh air is so underrated. I didn’t put tip 8 first as I know that there can be varying degrees of poor mental health and seeking professional help isn’t always the first solution (nor required in some cases). You’re right though - talking to friends or family is so important and can help alleviate anxiety and stress tremendously. Thank you for such a well-thought out comment xx

Such great advice. Journalling can be such a useful tool, whether writing down your feelings and thoughts first thing to recording your thoughts and ideas throughout the day. Ideas you would never remember otherwise. Top video.

Brilliant video! Just as another classics student, have you seen the article from David Butterfield in the standard that basically claims there isn’t racism in the classical field. It’s a load of garbage basically I’ve been mad about it all day
