- A quick update on my 55 Chevy 210 post project. Digging deeper into the car to find years of repairs and disappointment. Buying someone else's project is always a gamble. It's like Automotive Archeology, you never know what you'll find until you start digging into it. It's tough to decide whether or not you want to see what's really going on under the primer, sometimes you have to just rip that band-aid off and get down to the grit.

Great video brotha!!! Yeah def a bit of work to do but what an awesome car!!
Just found your channel, I like that you are going to fix the 55 quarter and lower door the right way, looks like it will be a nice car
I just acquired a 1955 Nomad “project”. I think the guy who did this quarter panel work on your car did the lower front quarters (both sides) on mine. They cut patches from some junkyard car and welded (if you can call it that) them in. It’s all going to have to come out.
Man, sorry to hear that, think this was common practice before major production of replacement panels, or just lazy and cheap lol. Good luck with your project, hope it works out 🤙🏽
Keep on chipping away at it, brother! I commend you for wanting everything 'right'. Good luck with your project!
Thank you sir!
STILL A GREAT CAR TO BUILD! I LIVE IN THE RUSTBELT AREA AND, OUR CARS ARE LIKE SWISS CHEESE HERE!!
I'm building a 57 belair post car someone primed over the original paint I started wet sanding it its two tone green witha black roof kind of strange they only primed from the top of the doors down I've been around try5s my hole life I have never seen one where the body is two tone and the roof is a different color my friend said it might have been a police car or something I thought someone just painted the roof I took the windshield out and the black paint is factory lacquer I buffed it out it looks new good luck with your body panels since it's your first time you should watch some videos on that repair the Eastwood company has some great videos nice car just think one day you'll be driving it I cant wate to get my car done thanks for sharing
That’s sweet! I wish I had the patina good luck with your project, I wouldn’t wish the work I’m doing on anybody lol
@@KevinHarrington55 it gets better as you go and the pride you feel when your done I can even count how many cars I've had it seems the older ones have more rust we built one car and the only thing original was the cowl and the roof it was a 1970 chevelle that was a nightmare lol your car doesn't look that bad I've seen and fixed worse good luck its getting there
Replace that whole side panel with a Danchuck reproduction panel. They are exclusively focused on 1955-57 Bel Airs. Can't go wrong with them.
I am beyond this point with my 1955 Chevy Bel Air. Already painted sky blue and white, ready for the next phase.
You can fix it boss. New quarter will be a breeze.
The weld at front of rocker is a trick to gain some gap below hinges. The patch on quarter looks like it came off a 57 four door car. Good luck with her 🙏😁👍 Thanks for sharing
👍🏻
I'm building a body from the firewall back which is my goal. You have alot of work but your still ahead of me in what I have to do. I'm grafting a Nomad roof to my firewall and building the body Literally building a body from nothing. Luckly, I have had a Nomad since 1974 for a reference. Look at the bright side, you have a body. Keep plugging away one day at a time it's looking good.
That sounds pretty awesome! You should post some videos of it! Thanks for the encouragement! I try to put in a little bit everyday
Any progress or vid on the quarter work?
Looks like the repairs that DD Speed Shop just did on his 57 Chevy 4 door hard top to 2 door convertible conversion.
Besides that quarter the car looks like you've got a good start considering the age and minimal rust. Did you buy just the shell or did you get parts too? Good luck.
Overall it’s a clean car for sure! It was a shell with about 80%of the trim and window parts
