We hope you had as much fun watching this video as we did making it! If you'd like to check out how we built these tracks you can watch the build series here!

I've been watching from the beginning and I have enjoyed you guys mature throughout your endeavors!!! Lots of love to the both of you guys and please keep the videos coming 💗
You should consider making them for others..if you haven't already.
Will you be selling the dxf files?
I have the same question as Robert. Would you be willing to sell the dxf files?
Great job now you’ll need hydraulic assist steering and a power steering cooler or you will cook the steering .
Knock the snow out of the tracks when you park. If it melts a little and freezes again you could end up with an ice block that will keep you stuck or break things.
It's absolutely incredible that you guys can simply fabricate this stuff out of thin air. =) Hard not to love the can-do attitude you both have along with the love of the little things. You're a joy to watch! More build! More snowverlander! Merry Christmas, guys!
Thanks Chris! We hope you have a very merry Christmas! ☺️
I remember watching the video when they made these. I thought there was no way in heck that these would work and that they were wasting their time. Obviously it is Crow eating time. Time will tell if they last the season or not, but it looks likes great job so far. Kudos to you two. Every time I think there is no way they can do it, they pull the rabbit out of the hat. Love, passion, necessity and ambition all in one package. Thanks for the great content.
How the heck were you able to see and comment on this video 12 hours ago? as of me commenting here it premiered 116 minutes ago???
@@darthschrader4 Patreon early access?
@@ckm-mkc ahh ok that could explain that
Congratulations! Fabbing a working set of tracks is an incredible accomplishment.
I love your “Snow Tracks” video a lot.
I’m born in the snowy parts of Germany, moved yeas ago to South Africa, purchased a 100ha farm 80km away from CapeTown in 1999 and waiting since than for snow.
When I have seen your video tears started running, and running.
Excellent you Two
Regards
Klaus
Just phenomenal - I’m so impressed with Riley’s design and fabrication skills - you guys are so cool 😎 Soon blowing the lid off CZcams 😊❤️‼️
You must not be a welder/fabricator? There's so many free plans on the internet that anyone with a little knowledge can easily figure this out.
My dad was curious about how the tracks worked out, we all sat down and watched this video together. I don't why but we couldn't stop smiling while watching you drive the snowverlander. The skill level you two have is just absolutely amazing, I wish I had 25% of the ambition you guy's have. Keep pushing guy's
We were hoping you all would enjoy watching this video as much as we enjoyed filming it! 😊
I just really love watching a young couple living the life most people dream. Keep on keeping on. Love your show.
I love all your content and your personalities. One of the best channels on CZcams!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Another great episode! There are lots of CZcams channels making cool stuff but you're both so down to earth and your approach to filming and sharing your adventures is what makes this channel great. No clickbait titles or trying to create drama, it's awesome to see. Keep it up!
Your "not how to" conent is always interesting too
Thank you so much! We couldn’t be doing these crazy projects with your support, and we are having way too much fun!
Totally Agree some of the best most Authentic video from any of these Off Grid Lifers....keep it up both you guys...
You two were actually glowing after the ride. Nice to see you having so much fun.
High fives and 👊 pumps the whole video, now my arms are tired,AWESOME!!
Love the end shots with the pups in the snow.
As an Idaho transplant from Southern California (43 years ago), I hereby formally christen you, official Idahoans!! You will fit in most excellently here, as this video proves beyond any doubt.
I was smiling the whole time as you were driving the "Snowlander"
That looks like a ton of fun
Grear job and keep up the great work 🙂👍
Snoverlander.
Two kids on Christmas morning, who got sleds for Christmas and it snowed. You're design skills really are something.
ditto!
The results of precision workmanship.
I thought I would offer a suggestion before even finishing the video. I would consider putting up some reflective markers alongside you road. That would allow you to make sure that you can stay in the middle of your road during the night time in case of an emergency.
Also, throw a cheap tarp over the Jeep to make it easier to remove the snow from it before you drive it, same thing goes for the excavator or anything else you might need to move around the property that is stored outside during a snow storm.
Other than those simple suggestions, Great Job!
Those are great tips John. Thanks!
As someone that used to work in a machine shop - the engineering that went into those tracks is absolutely amazing!
So - couple Q's:
- Where does Amazon deliver!? Do you have to go into town?
- Do you keep the Jeep in low range the whole time?
You guys are the best!
Hi Bob, thanks so much for the compliments! We have a parcel box at the local pack and ship store in town, they receive our Amazon shipments and hold them for us.
We keep the Jeep in high range. The axles already have lower than stock ring and pinions in them (4.56:1) so that combined with effectively a 17" tire (drive wheel) instead of a 35" tire means that it is already geared really really low. E.G. 30mph on the speedo is 15mph in reality. It probably has a top speed of 40 mph with the tracks on.
@@AmbitionStrikes this answered my question on the gearing! Glad I read through the comments.
NICE TRACKS!
two things to worry about with tracks, hard on the power steering unless assisted or ad an extra cooler, and B i would add a limiting strap/chain/shock back to the frame to avoid the track flipping over while driving higher speeds.
That was unbelievably amazing I cannot believe you did not get stuck anywhere. The fact that I actually watched you from the very beginning to build and figure out how to make those tracks and that they work is fabulous fantastic unbelievable awesome👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A quick word of advice. Tracks put a lot of load on the power steering system. So it's a good idea to fit a cooler, or you risk boiling your power steering fluid.
Riley you got talent , can’t wait to see what else you do up there.
Absolutely awesome it all worked. I would caution you about letting the snow get too deep all the way down the driveway until you have tested the tracks in it. Maybe use the snow plow and keep the known trouble areas clean. I would hate to see you get stuck and no way down the mountain.
Dude the angle looks perfect in that much snow! I think it was indeed enough!!
All your neighbor's are going to call you to get help in the snow.
You need bar lights and a new sign for the snowverlander " Ambition Snow Rescue"
Excellent machine, well done.
That sounds like way too much fun!
Love it. I’m a fairly new subscriber and my first impression of city slickers who couldn’t walk on packed snow to fabricators who build functional snow tracks has been an eye opening journey. Now I’m off to find videos on your track build. So freakin impressed.
AWESOME! please note Even this stellar transport is effortless do not allow yourselves to fall into a false sense of security. Always keep extra blankets, first aid, fire extinguisher, tools in case you do have a breakdown. I know not how far away you are from your home or other places of shelter but it's best to be prepared
Thanks for sharing and may God continue to bless you abundantly in that slice of heaven you're at
Mission accomplished! Snoverlander rules the snow in epic fashion.
Seeing you guys finally drive the Snoverlander made me happy. 😁😊
That was EPIC!!!! So proud of you guys!!! Please more snowverlander!!!
A great Engineer is no better than their Field testing!
The laugh after the hill is awesome hahaha
Very entertaining watching you guys in the snowlander ...you have to be proud of yourselves ...the living area is coming along ..did you see my comment about digging an inspection pig in the shop before you get the concrete poor...they are a great asset.Merry Christmas to you both from not so chilly England.
I love that this mod worked! I came to this channel about the time you started building your off grid home and that's what lead me here. that being said I also look forward to your vehicle projects. I guess its the ingenuity and figuring things out I enjoy from you both. Keep up the great vids and I look forward to more!
Be proud of this one! These are awesome
OMG! ! ! I was laughing my ass off watching you guys play in the Snovelander! ! ! You had so much fun and I soooo want to have one of those. Great video as always. Can't wait to see how it works in really deep snow.
And Courtney.... welcome to my world. I too have a anaphylaxis allergy to onions and garlic. I'm sorry to hear you too suffer the same allergy. As you know it sure makes eating out at restaurants difficult as well as buying foods. Onion and garlic are in EVERYTHING! ! !
Keep up all the wonderful videos.
The lithium jump packs are incredible. I got one and was sceptical because they just look too small to be able to jump start big engines but man are they awesome!
The tracks look and work fantastic, that was definitely a positive build. Keep up the great projects guy’s Thanks for sharing.☺️☺️☺️👍👍👍👍
Holy wow you guys, that’s a home run! Now build some for your camper! And while you’re at it, build a set for our camper too! ❄️❄️❄️💥💥💥
Those tracks are awesome. Nice knowing you can get in and out at will. You should be able to make and sell enough of those to keep you busy.
One of the most gratifying videos Ive seen after so much cost and work went into this project. What a dynamic duo you are!
Awesome project which pushes the boundaries of what is possible. Always loved, snow, tracked vehicles and outdoors and this combines them all.
Your can-do, pioneering spirit is awesome!
Love the sound of those tracks on the snow!
Time to mass produce these bad boys?
Congratulations on an awesome conversion of an xj. You guys might benefit from a little insulation in that roof of the snowverlander. Would help I think with condensation a bunch. Keep up the good work!
The wife and I look fed to every video you guys rock! But now I need tracks for my JK!
Nice job on the tracks. Loved watching the joy you guys had testing it out.
Enjoying the fruits of your labour. You guys look so happy and are clearly having the time of your life. Great to see you both smiling ear to ear 🤙😁
No slip on the steepest hill. Great that your skills will allow you to get in and out this winter.
When you guys get set for next winter, if you put true Winter tires on a 4x4, that vehicle will have traction that will go almost anywhere. We put Bridgestone Blizzak tires on our Yukon and it outperformed our 4x4 Suburban with studded All Terrain heavy lug tires when we needed to get up our steep snow covered driveway to our cabin by Brundage Mtn, McCall. We don't go anywhere in Idaho winters without our Blizzak tires. Nokian Hakkapelitta 9 are also known for deep and icy snow traction.
Awesome Job You Guys!!! It's just too fun to watch your content, everything is exciting and interesting, never dull! Keep it up! Tom
Great cinematography, beautiful scenery and fantastic attitudes. Looks like a lot of fun driving that around.. and nothing wrong with a little cold duck to celebrate success.
Am so happy for you both I can only imagine how proud your parents are for you I get stoked ( new word did I spell it right ) when my son does things he is 35 I am 69 so I can only imagine just go for it you don't look back just go
Courtney and Riley ain't gettin' stranded in the wilderness this winter, fo sho! Get a winch and you'll be having folks call you to get pulled out! ;) Those tracks are SO COOL! SNOWVERLANDER is a BEAST! WOW!
Super glad your tracks worked well! Didn't doubt they would! Love to see how the apartment is coming along!
Great job, Looks like they are working really well. I love the snowy scenery when viewed from my warm living room! Thanks for filming that.
Big thumbs up.... AND it was a really cute scene when Riley picked you up, Courtney!
You turned that thing into a BEAST! 😄 I loved this video! I was grinning the whole time!
This thing you guys made is amazing you guys should patent your design right away and get funding to mass produce them
I was so happy watching this - it was almost like an oddly satisfying video - relaxing with the heavy snowfall and scenery - the dogs etc . . I am also amazed at your home grown creativity - fabrication - engineering - DIY.
Hell yea, that's awesome.its amazing what a plasma table and a welder can do 👌
If you havent already, check out Casey LaDelle''s CZcams channel videos . He has a Jeep with tracks just like those. They really cut down your mileage. So make sure you carry extra gas with you always. His Jeep gets 2.5 miles per gallon at about 30mph. Casey is a great guy! He does Cascade Mountain towing/ rescue/recovery out of Oregon. Great job on making those tracks!! Amazing!!
That was awesome! Well done! Looking forward to seeing this in the deep snow.
Congratulations on the tracks. Must be a relief to know you can get in and out when you want.
It is a very nice peace of mind! Bring on the snow! 😉
What a Great "Miracle Wonder Device". All that Ingenious work Payed Off Big Time!
I stumbled on your channel looking at pole buildings......and can't quit watching. I am a mechanical engineer too and about to retire soon. You did the right thing getting out of crazy corporate America. Great design on the tracks...awesome!
Hi Mark! Thank you so much for supporting the channel and watching our videos. Congratulations on the almost retirement!
There was no doubt in my mind that the Snowverlander would dominate! Awesome build!!
Great job guys!! I just found your channel a few days ago. Very impressive!
Without a doubt, one of the best episodes. 1:45 "this is why we can't have nice things", very funny! I found myself smiling at the success of the Snowverlander as if I was part of the design and build. It's great to see so much happiness, thank you for sharing, I needed a good smile!
Thanks for watching Robert. We hope you have a very merry Christmas!
so glad it didn't throw a track, this being the first time on a new system. That was my fear, and based on what you said, probably yours as well. May it last the winter without issues.
Excellent engineering! Glad to see that they work so well. You guys do fantastic work! Keep it up!
That was very cool!!! Incredible build and first test! Good turn radius too. Can't wait to see in some deeper snow. Looks like it just floats on top with those big profile tracks. Impressive!!! And for sure fun looking!
I stumbled upon your channel on an auto recommendation from CZcams a few weeks ago. On that first episode I watched you going through a cabin, and a burned homestead . I searched and began watching as you started looking for properties. I’ve been watching every episode at approximately 15 episodes a day! Loving your channel!!
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Anything on tracks is awesome!
Yes !!!! That is RAD !! Seems flawless. Cant wait for the deeper snow runs. Merry Christmas to you guys !
I've been waiting for this video. I'm impressed with how well your hand made tracks work.
Next, install a remote start kit. When 2' of snow falls and you HAVE TO get out, press start , car warms up 15 min and your off and running
I for one had full confidence in this build!! Oh and at the end the "patina" on the door is looking awesome!
We can’t wait to see the door fully rusted!
Congrats on a successful test of the Snowverlander. It looks like your prototype works very well. That does not often happen when people first design and build something. I am very impressed! BTW, I think your left rear running light is burned out. The brake light was working but the running light was not lit even though the right rear was.
So much fun to ride along with you guys on all your adventures! I'm more partial to 'build' stuff but everything you guys get up to has a component of creation, so just keep it comin' ❤
Omgosh that is so sweet!! Congrats on making your own!
That is Amazing‼️ Now you need to insulate the Ceiling 😊✌️❤️
Merry Christmas to you guys. Seeing the happiness on your face shows how well you two have conquered your dreams ❤️😘
soooooo sick. This thing is legendary!!! so glad it worked out as planned.
Everyone on the block is going to want a snowoverlander
Cool project. I was sponsored by mattracks on a prototype setup that is now available to the general public. I want to share a couple of key pieces of information that might help you improve upon this design.
The tracks will work great until about 2-3 feet of snow. You will sink down quite a bit and since it does not appear you have anti turnover brackets installed bad things can happen. You can fix this with some fabricated anti turnover brackets mounted to the vehicle frame and the track frame.
Another thing to keep in mind is that snowmobile parts are not rated for full sized vehicles and have a high failure rate (bearings, bogies). This happens often at higher speeds as the bogies and bearings are under the most stress.
One more thing, if you get ice that covers the tracks be careful as the sprockets can rip the drive bars right out of the tracks themselves if the vehicle is frozen to the ground.
Solid framed track systems are great on soft surfaces only. Taking them over rocky terrain or offroad will destroy them almost immediately...
Thanks for sharing...
Snow gaiters for that weather would be a great Christmas gift for these 2. Would love to see more vehicle special build projects.
WIDER TRACKS FLAT RUBBER TRACKS for mud and muk traveling for mushruum hunting time in the spring?? :)
Congrats on your side project! Looks like it will be really helpful for you guys. Keep up with the good work.
When you guys get settled in and get your building done you'll have to go into production and make those for your neighbors
I would love to see how the apartment comes together, since you asked. :)
That’s really impressive and looked like a lot of fun there on fresh dry snow. I have a feeling that you may need to pitch the front rollers up to curv the tracks up at the front to cope well with deep heavy snow, or on snow with a breakable crust. This in order to constantly pitch the tracks up to the surface. It would also be safer over under-snow obstacles - just a thought. Making the front rollers adjustable might not be so difficult - not for you guys anyway! Great stuff, really enjoyed that win.
So good to see you playing in the Idaho snow! Also congratulations on growing the channel :)
Thanks Julian!
That jeep looked amazing! And awesome work on the tracks. I watched the time you guy put Into to it, I knew it was gonna work. Good show and liked the actually getting out and showing you guys film is cool.
Good show guys. 👍
You guys are just having wa-aa-ay too much fun! Sic'em!
(I had to call my wife over to sit in our chair together and watch it go!)
We agree, this was way too much fun!
Looks like a blast! Great job.
That was Amazing 👌 well done guys , anything you put out is always quality to watch 👏👏👏
That vehicle will go with those tracks on it . That was awesome and you all were having fun with it and videoing this for us, " Thank You " . I will see you all later and you all be careful and stay safe and keep on making us more videos .
As always, Jeffrey !!!
Has to be the best feeling, you make or build something yourself and it functions as planned. .... Nice
This was so much fun watching you guys ride around. Your smiles were priceless. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄 Peace, love and joy to you guys. Be safe!😘🤗❄️🇻🇪
Awesome work! That was EPIC! So awesome to see you all living your best life! :)
"We both need one of these!" ❤️ This was SUCH a fun video! Thanks for taking us along!
I’m so impressed with Riley’s great design and fabrication skills..!
Awesome job you guys! Looked like a lot of fun
