    Note: Game Exporter is available as an automatically loaded plug-in in Maya. If you need to load the tool manually, for example if you don't see Game Exporter listed in the File menu, load the gameFbxExporter plug-in using the Plug-in Manager (Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager). thanks

    Thank you for making this! Short, concise, informative. Everything I could've asked for.

    i don't understand what the difference is if you simply exported selected as fbx, all the embed media and include/bake animation stuff is there as well.

    how would you bind animations to keys? Like making the walk animation play for a character when pressing W, or attack with left click etc?

    this is the closest vid to help me move an animation from Unity to Unreal. Not quite there yet... since the model disappears when I get to the Retargeter stage, but getting there.
    If you know how to move animations between engines, I beg you to tell me how, cause it seems there's no documentation on that specific problem :(

      Glad you found the video helpful! Not sure about moving animations between engines - can't you just import them separately?

    • @Tenchinu
      @Tenchinu Před 2 lety

      no idea how tho :(
      i did managed to follow ur guide after i successfully moved the animation from Unity into Maya, then from Maya into Unreal. Had to disable the root, since it seems the mesh does not position itself correctly after import

    Thanks for the tutorial! I was able to import my animation from Maya to Unreal, but when I get to the very end and press play, nothing happens. The character is just standing there in a pose with no animation. Using UE5. Any advice?

      This happens to me, did you get any updates on how to fix this?

    • @downtimewithdemille3116
      @downtimewithdemille3116 Před 2 lety +2

      @@boomer7004 there is an additional trick you have to do. Once you have your character imported into your scene, make sure you imported the skeletal mesh along with the animation sequence and the physics asset in your content browser after you have named the folder everything is going in. After that, select your character, there should be an animation menu in UE..make sure “Use Animation asset” is selected in Animation mode, then where it says “Anim to play” there is a drop down..select it and point to your animation sequence file you imported in your content browser. Lastly,go down to the section titled “Mesh”, click the drop down, make sure your skeletal mesh is added there. After that, if you press play, it should start your animation. This is what worked for me at least. Hope this helps!

      @@boomer7004 and one more thing..it works best when exporting your animation from an earlier version of Maya. The later version doesn’t work well.

    how it happend? You exporting with upY+ axes and it works by default? Does UE rewrite axes automatically? And what are bone-axes? Are they changed to x-forward? What about Send2Unreal addons both for Maya & Blender? What with the Mr.Mannequin addon for Blender?

    my problem is i'm an animator and i cant find a proper way to work with a 100 percent compatible character for maya to ue4
    what rig should i use?

    • @jazenism
      @jazenism  Před 2 lety

      You could try 'Intances' to create delays? Otherwise, you might have to go into Blueprints and do it that way. czcams.com/video/u4DOied1iwM/video.html

    Hey Jason, thanks for the video. When I import my rig to UE4 following these steps and add the Anim sequence, the rig just breaks and deforms all over the place. Do you have any idea why? Cheers

      @@jazenism thanks for the reply. I cant attach grabs here but the error code I usually get says ' Mesh [geometry have no name] in the fbx file is not referenced by any hierarchy node.
      Any ideas? Maybe just a bad rig but I have tried several now and ones that are "game ready" 🙃
