- When William's true love finds out he is not of royal lineage she offers to run away with him despite the hardships. Even his friends tell him to run away. He chooses Courage, despite the unknown...
I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MOVIE. THIS IS A CLIP FROM "A KNIGHTS TALE" BUY IT IMMEDIATELY.
Roland would make a great Robert Baratheon
Bumblebeetuna CZcams hahaaaa
And Paul Bethany would make a great Vision
And William would make a great Joker in the Dark Knight !
in that case wart would make a great Steve the pirate
Robert is disguised as Roland. Someone needs to out him.
"You also tilt, when you should withdraw"
And that is knightly too
It's amazing line, when he didn't mean just this, but even that Will didn't withdraw against Colville knowing he's a prince, but he tilted against him and Edward appreciated and was pleased that someone rode against him and gave him a good match
Also he didn't forget his kindness that he gave him mercy in their first duel, when Colville was hurt
What a beautiful character and film!
This scene perfectly exemplifies what Prince Edward later says when William is in the pillory.
"Your men love you. If I knew nothing else about you, that would be enough. But you also tilt when you should withdraw...and that is knightly too."
William is, for better or worse, a man who will not run from danger. No, he faces them as a knight should, a trait that Edward not only respects, but admires in him. Not only that, William is a chivalrous man as well as shown when he showed an injured Prince Edward mercy in a previous tournament. THAT is why Prince Edward knighted him. And THAT is why Sir William is such a great character.
That was Coville who was injured though. Edward took his spot because of the injury as it was only a week before the next tournament.
@@Cody_L._Brock No, it was Edward pretending to be Colville from the start since he knew that people wouldn't joust against him if they knew who he actually was. Carefully look at "Colvilles" first scene and you'll see that it's the same guy.
@@jonathanhallberg3009 which is how we know it was the real Colville the first time, since the second time when Adamar refused 'Coleville' felt rejected, and knew that he'd been found out, and the speed of gossip(royalty in a tournament would spread fast), just because they used the same actor(he wasnt but whatever) means nothing
I thought that Shannyn Sossamon did very well in this film, and especially in this scene. You might not know it was her first film role.
This was truly a work of art. Every actor played their part perfectly and no other actor that exist can fill their shoes.
Yes!!!!
Knights do not run from fear, they walk calmly into the dark.
Is that a quote, or yours. Because I like it.
"If all good things must come to an end in this country, lets end them together."
“Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you’ll live - at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take OUR FREEDOM!”
Got the same vibes from William’s refusal to run as when William Wallace gave his famous speech.
It's always a sad day when Chaucer is clothed.
He should’ve had a long great career.
Rip Heath. You were taken from us far too soon.
Paul Bettany is one of our most overlooked 'character' actors. Ships' surgeon or ascetic assassin monk or Chaucer? Who ya gonna call?

Chris Aldridge mine has just come crashing down and this comment has made a bit of difference. Thanks

Such an awesome f****** cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still remember watching this in theater.
his acting was low key really good here
Asking everyone whether to run or not and not getting the answer he wants especially Wat at the end when he thinks he's gonna hear don't run. That always makes me tear up.
Yes...William, today we are 😢
Who else thinks that heath's assistant and that handmaiden is way more hotter than his love interest?
Definitely
whats her name?
The black haired girl was Williams blacksmith, not his assistant lmao
@@Fucyankee Lydia
You can also blame the stupid type of hairstyles that they gave her. a Natural style would have made her more attractive.
He was ready to lose for love but he would never run away for love.
Mr. Gundry good morning... as a heart surgeon, health care workers and family. We Thank you
I never understood this scene was a child, why would he prefer to be caged? Now I get it, it's about honour and doing what is right. He did choose to face the consequences of his lies instead of running away like a coward!
His friends almost talked him out of a Knighthood and into a hovel in exile. Close call
More than on way to run . You can Run away from a fight towards one around one . Sometimes you just have to deal with it and do your best .
Captain Jack Sparrow says that " he has always held dear that oldest and noblest pirate tradition we must fight to run away".
Gosh, Heath looks so handsome in this movie 😍
man, i was getting into it and i remembered it was only a bit of the movie
truly one of the absolute best movies ever 💓
Its very true indeed.
All good things must come to an End.
Sadness is the winner.
From about 3:12 to about 3:50. Not Jocelyn , but the people who know him best: Roland, not even being able to speak the answer, just sadly nodding. Chaucer, with heartfelt sentiment (with all the pieces of my heart), Wat with blunt honesty (yes, today we are in response to the statement "We aren't runners") and Kate not even waiting for a response ('run William "). 😢
And the response, taken not just Jocelyn, but everyone, almost as a smack. If you've ever had someone you loved do something painful due to stubbornness...you felt that metaphorical smack...
In this scene, he not only endangers himself, but all those who love him for who he is, all for the sake of pride.
William is a fantastic example that even the lowliest of us can become great, but in this scene in particular he shows that everyone has their faults and that he isn't always the perfectly virtuous underdog that people want to root for.
@@bigbob3772 There's a difference between having honour and being strong-headed. Sacrifice yourself by all means, but don't drag down all those you love with you just because you refused to back down from a fight you cannot win.
Also, I doubt you have that virtue; you don't put down other people and praise yourself and still call yourself honourable.
@@cyqry Since when is the truth 'putting people down'? As a female, you have NO CONCEPT of sacrifice and honor- these are traits of MEN. How often do you see a female give her life for the sake of others? VERY rare. How often do you see men give their lives for others- EVERY day! Do NOT project your LACK OF VIRTUE TO OTHERS-INCLUDING ME.
@andrew Herriges I am NOT dealing with mens failing. I will separately. As a gender women do not possess neither honor, nor great sacrifice. It is NOT part of their core design=as it is NOT critical to survival. For men, honor and sacrifice ARE ESSENTIAL for survival.
@andrew Herriges Stop being a whiny blue pilled simp.
@@bigbob3772 bob is right in his argument but the fact is that heath leadger died cuz he climbed to hard and to far ironic how he won in this movie but failed in life , woman do not posses honour or self sacrifice , but i think bob is very young some advice bob its pointless to debate your pride here on youtube dude , woman will automatic defend and go sjw feminazi , you have to play the game smart but your very young you will learn it takes time ive been there dude ooooh i been there hehe
He had the heart of a lion
When your at the end of the rope, and walking that faded line. Called faith. This is the way....❤
The love is so powerful!
You are offering me your love, but what of my love of myself.
You ask me to run and give up the very thing I love in myself.
You ask me to run and give up my pride in myself.
You ask me to give up the soul of me.
I run and you will be in love with a man without a soul. A man without pride. A man that now abhors the thing he has become.
No, no I shall not run.
RIP Heath Ledger. Such a legion. 😞
When Robert Baratheon, Wash, and Vision help the Joker become a Knight.
And was knighted by a Prince which is a Dark Knight....
Oh... The Irony... 😆😆😆
This movie has always been one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES. THIS,Eragon,Dragonheart, the Lotr and Hobbit trilogies (peter jacksons version NOT the cartoon version), And the chronicles of narnia movies,Hook and the Princess Diaries 1&2, braveheart, Master and Commander. The only other truly EPIC movies is Glory,Dunkirk,The Patriot, Passion of the Christ, and HACKSAW RIDGE. Those last TWO ARE COMPLETELY EPIC.
Run Barry...Run.
And that, is knightly too.
Her American accent could be heard quite clearly in this scene
it was her first movie afterall
Yess William, with the pigs😂😂😂😂😂
What are you doing Joker?!? Listen to Vision and King Robert!
.... the joker .... listening .... .... ....THE JOKER !?11??!! ....
.... you may have a better chance to explain something to homer simpson .... or monkey d. luffy ...
Fair play to william for telling his friends to fuck off! Sometimes you need to do that!
Joker:
"they are scimmers trying to control their little worlds"🤡
Leadership. That's all.
I ask you: What makes a man noble, his lineage or his heart?
To tilt, when one should withdraw…
I have always found Jocelyne annoying. She's such a romatic lunatic. The least she can do, as a rich lady who should have many connections is to have William protected by people she trusts. Not telling him to run like in those fairy tales....
We was being a man/knight and willing to face the consequences for his actions.
this movie has the perfect score casting scenes that rip or make you cry it has action a great love story no genda or wokness just fun an gripping action i miss movies likes these
So does he win?
Fun fact: that blacksmith is Lydia from breaking bad haha
Real life knight come back to life just cus our love for you
BOW YA SHITS LOLOLOL
But if he was in so much trouble, why didn't Dave just offer to take off all his clothes for money?
No True Knight will ever run its just not noble at all

Heath was WOKE before anyone...he identified as Knight. His preferred pronoun was was "Sir".
Expect that pronoun was not fictitious and lacking basic common sense unlike todays woke.
