      I need some advice because my dog is ONLY reactive to dogs, I rescued her. And she seems pretty off put by only dogs, I think she might bite if I don't do this right, however she's so sweet.

      @@noelleelise22 I would advise seeking a local trainer to help in person. Oftentimes, a big element of reactivity is the relationship between human and dog, and a trainer can observe that and offer advice on helping that. In the meantime, this video goes over a few exercises that can help to minimize the reactivity:

    This is really encouraging. My dog has become really reactive since she got attacked by another dog almsot a year ago. She barks and lunges, and I know its because she was attacked by two dogs while on a walk.

      Something similar happened to me, there was no bite but it almost happened and ever since then he's been getting worse and reactive to more and bigger dogs, it's really heartbreaking because before that I've almost completely neutralised him to dogs walking by and now im kinda scared when I see german shepherds. Wish you luck tho!

    I have a Australian shepherd border collie.She is absolutely amazing.We take her to the dog park to run every other day.And she is very food and Ball driven. The only thing we can't break her off is when she's on a leash at home or on a walk.She absolutely has to start barking and pulling towards the other dogs at the dog park.She could care less about the other dogs.She just wants to play with her ball and run as fast as you can.

    What if my dogs reactive bc he goes into "protection mode" hes okay with people and dogs when im not around but when im around i cant sit if people are standing or he has an issue, if they walk in the room and approach me first its a problem. If a dog comes near me and i dont engage he gets mad at them. It seems he wants me to be safe but im also not sure that some of it isnt jealousy of some sort. He also does not approve of play fighting and if the dogs get too loud playing he gets aggressive like hes trying to break up "the fight" me and my bf cant play wrestle or my dog lunges at him(he is a small terrier mix boston and rat so thankfully his behavior has not severely hurt anyone but just bc hes small doesnt mean its okay ya know) so im not sure where to start ive watched all kinds of videos some good some bad and idk if maybe hes playing off of my emotions and thats why he freaks out because during play fights and stuff my heart rate increases and hes not trained for service bc of his reactivity/aggression but he does alert me when my heart condition causes too high of a heart rate or too low of blood pressure so im not sure if he sees an increase in heart rate as i need to stop everything going on rn so he bites the other person or animal involved. Thankfully ive been around dogs most of my life so any fights hes started get properly broken up super fast and thankfully none of the dogs are wounded other than sometimes a small scratch but id love if i could have him around other animals without worrying that he might start a fight if they approach first. I have faith ill figure it out because i have seen some progress already just by trying to get his attention swapped to a different area or item. He has been attacked before without him provoking it and i think thats a large part of his behavioral problems. He has also witnessed me get attacked which seemed to further his dislike for other dogs and male humans. He has no issues with women other than barking when they first meet but many men still make him uncomfy despite the fact he does well wity some. Reactivity with other dogs is his main issue and ive had him since he was 3 weeks(had to bottle feed him due to a jaw deformity that did not allow proper latching every time) i am basically his momma and weve been through a lot together so im hoping i can calm him and curve the behavior so we get many more years together where he isnt on edge all the time and looking for a fight to occur. His tail is tucked when he lunges and bites so ik its just a fear response but i dont want my boy to feel that way 😢

      This sounds like resource guarding

    • @jaidynelder
      @jaidynelder Před 2 měsíci

      @JazzfromOz yeah kinda he definitely resource guards which he isn't super bad about but still growls and stuff I've had him since he was 3 weeks and had to bottle feed him so he bases a lot of things around me and if I'm next to him he doesn't normally growl at other dogs and stuff while he eats. I think it us mostly "small dog syndrome" and he is acting tough because he knows he is small and is scared of things. He tucks his ears and whale eyes while he's doing the bad behaviors. He'll tuck his tail too so I think he's just scared they'll do something anf ends up doing it first. It's definitely manageable and we go on hikes and stuff to help with enrichment. On days with long or hard hikes he seems a lot more calm and more lenient with others dogs and people and he's super cuddly but has his moments. He definitely resource guards but is also reactive. Not aggressive really just always expecting something to happen and being on guard a lot of time. I'm hoping he can be less stressed with more excerisize and stuff. He loves running along side my skateboard and can normally ignore other things while we're doing that
