- Revolution versus Revolution Max. Ridge Roamer looks at the similarities and differences of the Harley Davidson V-Rod VRSC and the new Sportster S motorcycles. Will the Harley customer base support this new liquid cooled DOHC performance cruiser? Can it really compete against the Indian Scout?

I was thinking about the difference between these two bikes because they are some of the only higher performing engines that HD has put out and this perfectly explains everything it was quite satisfying how sometimes there’s a video that’s just what you need to
vrod 5 speed
What year did they put a 6 speed in a vrod or vrod muscle? I've never been able to find one with a 6speed
Nope. They are all 5 speed.
I’ve ridden the sportster S, vrod 1130, and night rod special, the night rod and sportster sat very similar, and I personally liked the 1130 the most, I didn’t fit quite right on the night rod and sportster(5’8, 200lbs
The V rod looked good from both sides.
I'm a secret Sports S fan...now it's out there.
“I haven’t ridden a sportster s…”
That about sums it up
The v rod was wn awesome bike and im looking forward to getting a sportster s
You won’t be disappointed. I have the 2021 Sportster S and it’s a fantastic bike. My only recommendation is swap the seat for a Corbin or something. The stock seat isn’t that good for long rides.
One noticeable difference is the firing interval. The Vrod was 60° V-twin that fired as such. But the new Rev-max is a 60° V twin with a 30° offset crank. Making it fire like a 90° V-twin. More like a Ducati than a V rod or Indian.
It feels like a Ducati.
except the Ducati will run circles around the Harley - literally.
Polaris has done pretty good with the Indian line up. Good thing victory didn't take off more or else we might not have seen an Indian rebirth
Indian isn't comparable to Harleys when you're talking customer base. In the United States you have Motorcycle riders, and Harley riders. They're two different things.
I like the looks and the numbers of the sportster S. But I’d agree, it doesn’t look comfortable.
I owen a 2005 cvo it still made much more quality.sportster plastic cheap.abd small
I think your opening line said it all. Harleys collaboration with Porche. Harley believed this would bring prestige and credibility to the engines design but alas that fact was to Harleys detriment. Harleys base just would not tolerate that fact. Call it foolish pride.
Have you thought about putting larger wheels on your monkey bike, so it doesn't look like you're riding a toy?
Definitely not, I like it the way it is. If I don't want to ride a toy, I ride one of my bigger bikes.
Vrod is 5speed
Sportster s is also designed around the body type of a 15 year old girl
Sounds like you just don’t like Harley’s at all Especially since you have a Ktm jacket on
And Harley only had help fro Porsche on making the engine compatible for street use. You made it seem like Porsche helped them on the whole bike
Your assessment is a joke
I can’t trust a word in the video other than what I know is true just because you got wrong how many gears a vrod has.
Not sure what happened there. I found multiple websites with specs showing a 6 speed transmission on the Vrod. Looking again, I still find many spec sheets showing 6 speed, and many showing 5 speed. I apologize for the error.
Vrod was awesome in style and Performance but it was uncomfortable as hell.
The sportster s is butt ugly. The v Rod looked better
Your numbers are all wrong. lol
17 yrs vrod been around? The s will not watch girls bike lol...
It was anti-Harley people screaming for Harley to make something modern.......so when they did those screamers wouldn't buy it because they aren't no way gonna buy a Harley.......then indian scout came out and they wanted to know what the V-Rod was like so they bought the Scout
All the modern electronics.......ways of tracking you...........Scout don't have that, neither does my V-Rod.......if I want more traction I go down a gear, it'll do 90 in 2nd
Now the 975, if they'd done the Bronx I probably been looking at it, but a copy of the scout60 naw
When has anybody ever come out with the bigger faster first then smaller slower to back it up.....idiots.......then tack on another $1000 on the bike meant to draw them in
Yes, I had 2 883's before I got my Dyna and V-Rod, without having had them I'd probably never looked at Harley.....well I would've looked but just said "too much"
This stupid advertising campaign tease tease tease....lose interest....tease some more and then the big reveal.....who cares
You said my Rod is 115hp, but its listed as 120, it might be a little slower than the S buts thats becasue its a much more comfortable 650lbs
My Rod has highway pegs that I rarely use because the mid pegs are so much better.......and its easier to get my butt off and over with mids than if I have my feet on the highways.....its even easier than on my crotch rocket
The Scout and Scout60 will continue outselling them because $$$$
