  • When you have 4 motorcycles and you want another one, something has to go...So I put the 2003 Harley-Davidson V-Rod up for sale.

    Still one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve seen

    I've always liked the V-Rod. Never really vocalized it as I don't need to get into a pissing competition with beardies who dress from the Village People's greatest hits wardrobe. I saw one just like yours the other day at a rural gas stop here in Au in amongst a sea of other bikes and it still looks modern and maybe even more of it's time today than when it was released.

      It's a beauty, but it's also short range. I had 4 short range bikes, and none had cruise or heated anything. I CAN do long trips on anything, but I was spoiled by owning Goldwings. I'm working my way to having at least one perfect fully- loaded all-rounder.

    WOW, that even made me cry. I must be allergic to those little yellow grass flowers also.

    You do sound a little remorseful. V-Rods have come into their own. And you had the anniversary edition too. Tough decision.

    I'm gutted that the v-rod had to go, though I console myself with a sigh of relief that it wasn't the Fury. I would have sold the "Grey Wolf" and replaced it with the Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT. Can't wait to see what you replace it with....though I do have a inkling on what's coming next.

      The V-rod was a beauty, and fun, but a beast in high winds. I couldn't find a windshield that fit, either. With a tiny gas tank, you could watch the fuel gauge fall like a fast running clock. The big problem is, since I sold my Goldwing, I have nothing comfortable for long distances. I'm in a pickle. Interest rates have never been higher. We have a political party in power that has made nothing but financial mistakes. They declared war on gas and oil the first day in office, and that raised our fuel prices. They handed out stimulus checks like candy, which caused inflation. How does a government slow inflation? It raises interest rates to get you to stop buying. Somewhere along the line, they jacked up minimum wage, so fast-food workers could afford apartments. Fast-food and retail was nene supposed to be a career!!. Now all restaurant food is jacked up. We are headed back towards living on farms. Anyway, it's a bad year to buy ANYTHING, but the Tiger 1200 and the Moto-guzzi are on my mind.

      @@ukbusman FJR isn't good for dirt roads. Have you sat on one? I did yesterday. I've ridden them before, and the seat hasn't changed. It's like straddling a Clydesdale horse! Super wide seat, so much so, I'm bow-legged trying to touch the ground. The Honda ST1300 fits WAY BETTER, but they don't make them anymore. I recently rode one, and it must have had a new front tire, because I was sliding all over the Interstate. I could get it for $6k, but it's pretty dated now, and the heat off the engine is a downside.

      @@ridingwithmarshall I did think about the dirt road drawback, but I sure didn't know about the other no no's, just trying to help in case there's a bike you haven't thought about.

    My Rocket 3 gets to 60 in first gear. And beats the vrod in every other metric, especially power. When you say insane power you need to finish the sentence with
    “For a harley”.

      Didn't I put it on the text on screen?? I'm pretty sure it says for a Harley. I agree, the Rocket 3 is a better bike all around.

      @@jimanders9971 ouch. I was thinking very hard on that one having a great 13 yr relationship with my 2000 Daytona 955i and got a street triple r. 675. I was leaning towards the rocket 3 hey I just might trade in my ducati 848 fighter and boom I got a rocket, it was a little bulky and the look didn't grow on me like it has now. But the vrod is a huge bang for the buck, fun. And the sound with the Vance and hines pipes is addictive. Love it

    • @jimanders9971
      @jimanders9971 Před rokem

      @@lancecrocket2391 the Rocket handles much better than the vrod, and has way more power than the vrod. I would never take a vrod over my Rocket but I may well get one as a backup bike to the Rocket. And how could you say the Rocket is much more bulky? They are almost identical in weight.
