      Yes, it seems a good example of provocative titling by what John Ronson describes (8:30) as "our leaders in the tech and the media and the political worlds who think that they can make money out of stoking our rage for each other".

      @@greengardener517 Not really. The most recent thing was schools requiring parental permission for name changes in class. Nothing serious has shifted and anything that does prior to the general elections will be token at best/worst. As for Linehan he's essentially become freakishly obsessed with an issue that ultimately doesn't concern him professionally or personally. He made a choice to drive those people away.

    Hi Mike - what would you do with the significance of blessings in Genesis that are just words - Issac blessing Jacob rather tham Essau and then Jacob blessing his sons. Also Balam being hired to curse Israel and only being able to bless them. This suggests power in words, would you think this just primative beliefs of bronze age society (as more liberal Christians I would expect would claim) or do you think there is more to this?

    • @NothingIsKnown00
      @NothingIsKnown00 Před 6 měsíci

      No it doesn’t require two parties. It’s enough that one bunch of people check out of reality. Then they attack everyone else for not believing the same garbage conspiracy theories.

      @@Leah-ju8ht its really not this tiny minority you may like think of it as. Heres the thing, neither of us actually know what percent of the people think of these things because these things are implemented without public votes. Example, DEI allowing racial and sexual discrimination hiring. I wasnt asked if i approved of this, were you? So how can you claim that there is a majority in favour of discrimination without these results?

    • @_Stroda

      The people who claim it's one sided are, by and large, those associated with one of the two sides involved.
      To anyone else with a half functioning brain, it's clear that there are two sides. I think it's also clear that, at best, much of what can be described as the 'culture wars' is a distraction from more serious issues. Well, that and someone spewing the typical 'culture wars' drivel is an immediate flag that their views on pretty much anything to do with politics or economics aren't worthy of attention, and meaningful debate with them will be impossible.

      I am reminded of a cartoon which showed a MAGA red cap man strongly arguing with a clearly left wing women also dressed stereotypically who was equally aggressively arguing back. In the cartoon they were overshadowed by a billionaire rubbing his hands together and saying "I love it when poor people fight amongst themselves"

    • @_Stroda

      @@ozbaz99 Of course, if you're looking at things this way, it really is those to 'the right' who play most into the hands of 'elites'.
