Here's a version of "No Such Luck" that I think would've been better:
Just have the episode focused on Lynn and her superstious behavior, since she's proven to have, being an athlete and such.
And instead of just Lincoln that Lynn claims is bad luck, it's the whole family that Lynn thinks that are unlucky because of the many superstitions they accidentally caused (like Lynn Sr. spilling the salt, Lola breaking one of her mirrors, and Leni wearing red shows).
Eventually the whole family gets tired of Lynn ' s paranoia, so to prove to her that good & bad luck don't exist; they gave up their lucky charms and go through a whole day and/competition without them.
And when Lynn goes to her game without a lucky charm nor following the superstitions, she actually got throw the game without being overly paranoid for the sake of her family (and her collon).
It's cliché, but it's better than what we got, and it could've brought some character development for Lynn.

    • @bradenskaggs5350
      @bradenskaggs5350 Před 4 lety +34

I feel like this would make sense since the show has shown to have the family show a character how to fix one of their problems and shows them through it, like how the family helps Lynn with her bad attitude towards winning and Luan's pranks. I feel like this would be a decent episode and would work with the athlete stereotype of Bad Luck. Maybe it wouldn't be a top 10 or even top 20 but it would be much better than this

    • @nicolemcdonald7547
      @nicolemcdonald7547 Před 4 lety +16

Here's my idea: How about instead of the whole family thinking Lincoln's bad luck, maybe it could just be Lynn and Leni (Because Leni is an idiot.) And instead of Lynn "Inviting" Lincoln, it could be his parents (Which would make more sense. And in the end, It could end with Lincoln and Lynn making up and some pun involving luck or something (e.g. "I'm lucky to have you for a brother.") I'm not saying this is how it should have happened, I'm saying it's how it could have happened. Think about it.

First time I saw "No Such Luck" halfway through I was thinking that, instead of what actually happens, that Lincoln writes an apology letter for lying to his family and then he runs away from home, and family realizes the literally pushed him out of their lives, and track him down asking him to forgive them, even stating their shuns were punishment enough for Lincoln. I pictured this scenario ending with all members of the Loud family hugging, which is better than ending with Lincoln having to wear a mascot costume. This sounds darker than the normal comedic tone of "The Loud House," but I thought this episode's message was going to be about what happens when a kid runs away from home, after all of his relatives shun him and the consequences of verbally heart breaking a single family member to the point of outright rejection. Who else agrees?

But the way they went about it was so much more doable.

While I do have No Suck Luck as my least favorite episode it's nice hearing other reasons why its bad outside the "child abuse" claim. I just found the entire structure of the plot, the parents instigating the situation and the family turning into intolerable jerkasses to be the worst part. Not because "Child Abuse... BAD!" It also ends on a joke ending, while there isn't anything wrong with that it doesn't exactly pull that off very well. That scene with Lola especially was the worst part of the episode. Also people like to bring up "Lincoln brought it on himself" while that is true, this is metagated by the fact Lincoln could've just missed out on family activities or the family could've caught onto the lie, pretended to play along as an attempt to teach him a lesson. There's also the fact Lincoln comes to the conclusion he did it to himself and apologizes for it only for the family to continue to Lynn's superstition and exaggerate the problem, even though Lincoln resolved it by outright telling them the mistake and that it was a lie
I think they family take things too far for something that is nothing more than a white lie or exaggeration. (Lynn also gives him the idea to play it off as a lie) Lynn just comes off as a competitive jerk who can't handle losing, so she just blames her loses on someone else. Even though Lincoln went because she threatened him. Lori and Lisa being easily convinced should've brought red flags considering how Lori was into inviting Lincoln to watch her game regardless of a silly rumor accusation beforehand and Lisa being skeptical. It's also made worst when the episode states that Lincoln goes to their daily events all the time, and none of them ever do any of the things he wants to do. I don't see how wanting time to yourself is a selfish act, which makes the stupidity of the family more frustrating. (Rita and Lynn Sr especially) I completely agree with your criticisms on the episode Jem, my reasons are the same. It's not bad because "OH noes child abuse". I do agree that this episode gets a bit too much hate, but the reasons for it being bad still apply. I do think Lincoln went about solving the situation in the wrong way, as in he could've tried talking to his family (moreso the parents) about it, but it doesn't effect the fact that Lincoln's intent isn't for a selfish reason, it's just wanting some space.
Here is a list of worst Loud House episodes
    -No Such Luck

    5. The Green House and its issues are similar to another episode, Brawl in the Family, where Lincoln constantly receives the short end of the stick for something that is beyond his control, despite trying to do his best to make things right. It's not so much mean-spirited than just contrived and pointless. It's also another environmental episode that muddies and oversimplifies its message, which is also unfortunate.
    4. One of the Boys is definitely one of the more infamous among fans because it goes against everything that the show is, or is not. My main problem however is the pacing. I actually think making it an hour-long special would've done it justice, though a 22 minute episode would've been fine too. At least, it makes me appreciate the show even more after seeing what it could've been if they focused purely on the characters' genders.
    3. I actually don't mind Making the Grade that much, because I found it humorous seeing Lisa act like an average kid. Sure, Lincoln getting blamed and ostracized for her behaviors is unjustified and forced, but it's not as bad as "certain other episodes." Not one of the best, but not one of the absolute worst, in my opinion.
    2. Speak of the devil. Brawl in the Family is basically just everyone fighting for stupid and forced reasons and, once again, Lincoln getting the short end of the stick. Also this contradicts another episode, Space Invader, where Lincoln is forced to resolve a quarrel between Lucy and Lynn, and nobody objects to it. Usually in episodes like these, the focus is on the two people fighting rather than the ones caught in the crossfires, and I don't really agree with the message that you should just let people who are fighting work it out on their own, at least not if it's in the family, cause that just leaves everyone else to suffer. But I do agree to not go about it the way Lincoln did.
    1. Speaking of those "certain other episodes" where Lincoln is hung out to dry, No Such Luck is just the worst. It's bad enough his sisters have alienated him, but his parents too? This contradicts yet another episode, Ties that Bind, where the sisters thought the parents were gonna get rid of Lincoln and tried to convince them not to, as well as the parents saying they would never get rid of any of them. And I thought One of the Boys went against the tone and structure of the show. And it's not like they were trying to teach him a lesson either; they really thought he was "bad luck" even after he proves them wrong at the end. It's one of those "specially bad" episodes and the worst Loud House episode (so far).

My biggest problem with Brawl in the Family is the execution. I get what the episode was trying to do, its a normal thing for family to fight and after a huge quarrels its best to let them have time to cool down. But Lincoln not knowing about a problem that goes on in his family (pretty regularly from how the episode establishes the sisters explain sister fight protocol as if its a thing that's happened before) but I think they make some things too exaggerated. Like Lincoln can't go to the bathroom or his sisters conveniently using his stuff just to solve the fight. It's basically written as if its Lincoln's first time in the Loud House and doesn't know what goes on. Sure there could be instances where the family may have things he isn't aware of, but something as huge as a fight? Also this same plot was used in "Space Invader" which didn't even involve a "fight protocol" and Lincoln solving the issue, it basically told the same message and executed "invading personal space and families fighting" in a better way. which makes the protocol come off as a plot device so the sisters can be jerks toward Lincoln. Also the ending where the sisters magically make up because Lincoln wasn't there comes off as Lincoln being the problem for their own situations and implies Lincoln not being there makes everything better, which is a questionable implication at best.

No Such Luck, to me and others, is worse in an offensive sense. We say offensive because of the following reasons.
      1. Lynn was being incredibly ignorant in her "Good Luck Rituals." Not a single real world athlete I know of believes in luck, when doing their thing; it's all about skill.
      2. I understand what Lincoln did was wrong, lying to his family and all. But everyone needs a BREAK, once in a while. Especially when you have ten obnoxious sisters in your house.
      3. Lynn threat threatened to beat Lincoln with a bat, if he didn't go to her stupid game. That right there should give reason for her to be punished. If she were my daughter, I would cut her out of EVERY athletic outlet in the town

It's impossible to make a show without a few duds, and it's a mark of a great show that the worst episodes are MUCH easier to narrow down than the best ones. Having said that, I totally agree with your list, and here's my two cents on these five episodes:
-Green House. Making small lifestyle changes, in both the show and in real life, is better than doing nothing. Quite frankly, the best way for the Louds to control their carbon footprint would have been for Rita and Lynn to use birth control, but that ship's already sailed. Still, if each member of the family does a few things differently, it's not insignificant. Small stuff really does add up, and the episode would have been much better if it had made that point.
-One of the Boys. Definitely agree that the male versions of the sisters were much too stereotypical and bullying. To be fair, guys really do tend to be more physically aggressive and roughhouse more than girls do, so that may be a factor. But there definitely should have been a wider range of personalities and treatment Lincoln got from his brothers. The male Leni and the male Lynn should have been much more different than they were.
-Making the Grade. Yes, you are absolutely correct that the writers have a vendetta against Lincoln--he's supposed to be an analogue to Charlie Brown, who's a similar chew toy in his universe. But the thing about doing that is you can't go too far. Charlie has disappointments, but he always still has his friends to perk him back up. If you take that away, it just turns into Family Guy, and only sadists like Family Guy. This is an episode where Lincoln's simply put in a no-win situation and doesn't have much hope for making things better. That kind of episode doesn't get any kind of point across except making the audience feel sorry for him.
-Brawl in the Family. This episode has the distinction of not only putting Lincoln in a no-win situation, but coming off as downright sexist. The girls have basically grouped together to develop a family strategy that he's completely cut out of, as if the fact that he's a boy means he's unaffected by the havoc that the Lori-Leni fight is creating. Being massively outnumbered by opposite sex siblings is inherently difficult and some challenges are unavoidable, but what his sisters are doing here is taking full advantage of their numbers to basically treat him like a second-class citizen just because they can. It's bullying, plain and simple, and it's especially egregious that the final message takes their side and casts Lincoln as the one in the wrong. What's so ironic is that there was actually great potential for the Lori vs Leni fight idea. Splitting the house in half between two warring parties is a classic trope and it could have worked really well here.
No Such Luck. Ah, No Such Luck. The episode that has inspired COUNTLESS revenge fics where the Louds get punished for their actions. There was really no question that this would be number one on the list and everyone's already picked apart every single solitary thing wrong with it, but there are a few things that do need pointed out. One, the concept itself isn't really a bad one. Danny Phantom had a similar episode when Tucker Foley was branded as "Bad Luck Tuck" and it hasn't been a massive hatesink for that fandom. Moreover, the moral they were trying to teach is a legitimate one. Lincoln was bothered by having to be with his sisters all the time and thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, and it is indeed true that being alone all the time has drawbacks of its own. The problem with it is--well, read what I said above about Charlie Brown vs Family Guy. The Louds not only mistreated Lincoln the way his sisters did in Brawl in the Family, they actually crossed the line into what is genuine, no-kidding child abuse by real-life standards. That's not just unfunny or bad writing, it's genuinely ugly. And it was so, so unnecessary. Here, off the top of my head, are five ways to rewrite the episode to make it not offensive:
-Have Lynn be the main character and learn that her superstition-centric worldview is flawed when X superstition says she'll lose but she wins anyway
-Have the entire episode be a nightmare sequence, a la Butterfly Effect
-Have the family know all the time that Lincoln's lying about being bad luck and go to the movie without him simply to teach him a lesson about honesty, then make their point when they get home
-Have Lynn act the same way, but the other sisters take Lincoln's side and call her out for her actions
-Have Lincoln and Clyde come up with a scheme to change Lynn's mind about him

I honestly agree with this whole list in general. No suck luck should f**king die in a ditch. I'm not wishing bad things, lying or joking, is SERIOUS!!!!!
Note: Spümcø era from the 1991 show is AMAZING! Someday if Nick change the idea to not revive the show to revive the show and John returns after that horrendous case is accused of sexual harrasment, in truth is FAKE! Now, I hate Robyn Byrd to not respected my opinion about her called John K. a manipulator in CB and blocked me in Twiiter and his desilusional fans atacked me in the post (now deleted, to don't get more problems), and I tried to hack his account, but, I decided to not make this, because is horrible, and hacking is terrible, I blocked her in Twiiter to don't get polemics, Robyn and I, we now enemies!

Lincoln lied to his family about being unlucky to get out of attending their siblings activities. Lincoln shouldn’t of done that and the episode plays like all of this is Lincoln’s fault.
It was...Lincoln’s...fault? It was Lincoln’s fault? It was-- That sports game that Lynn forced Lincoln to attend, the one where she needed Lincoln as her good luck charm or she would threaten him with a bat. I'm sure she’s aware of, she was part of a team, a super team. Am I correct?
Uh-huh. And, uh, when you’re part of a team there are other members who can make mistakes , Correct?
And...they lost and what does she do? Instead of taking the lose like an actual athlete she blames her and her team’s failure on someone else? She blames her little brother and labels him bad luck for her and her team’s failure.
Wait a minute! That can't be right! Because Lincoln is supposed to be the fault guy! So...correct me if I'm wrong, but if Lynn wasn’t such a sore loser and labeled Lincoln bad luck to begin with, none of that bullshit would’ve been happening! He’d be in his bed afterwards! (scoffs) It's almost like all of that is entirely Lynn’s goddamn fault Right? Right?
Hey. If she has a team, and she's part of that team, and she or someone else on that team makes a mistake. See, here it is, here's the ball, here it is, all the way in the air. The ball reaches close to the field and you drop the ball. You lost the game! And it was you and your team’s mistake that caused it! THIS WAS STUPID!! The whole Lynn’s superstitious attitude was stupid! And if they thought I was just gonna sit there and let them say it was Lincoln’s fault like in the episode, they're freaking wrong, 'cause I'm giving Lynn the freakout she deserved, that freaking idiot!!

I'd be all for one episode in which Lincoln acts like a total asshole to nearly everyone and completely gets away with it , you heard right he acts horrible to both his family and friends is super selfish and mean gets away with it no scolding , grounding no apology 100% scott free . Now before you say anything other Characters who dont normaly get away with it , did in a few occasions , Squidward smooches off of Spongebob and treated him like a slave and Spongebob in a rare case loses his temper and Sqidward got away with it and got his job back and minior cases teasing him over his grandma kisses and pretty parties . Eddy gave Ed advice on how to deal with his bratty sister Sarah , and its implied Eddy knew his advice would backfire ( DD " you just send Ed into the Lions denyou know that dont you ? Eddy " yeah I KNOW.) And at the end Ed got beaten up by Sarah and Eddy just shrugged it off showing not even a sympathetic glance to watch TV Alvin in the 2015 cartoon made up a lie on the chipmunks adoptive father Dave and for once in the whole franchise doesnt get grounded or the classic " ALVIN!" scream , Greg Heffry did a prank on Valentine Day cards and for once didnt get punished or even caught, and Meg Griffin while more innocent then the other examples on 2 episodes fell in love with Brian and Joe and does rather shady things to make them hers Kidnapping Brian and Framing Bonnie and when she gets find out Meg gets off easily, in fact with the Brian one Quagmire gives her some legit helpful advice rather then a taste of her own medicine like you'd think was going to happen.
Or so that fans dont use it as an excuse to bash Lincoln , hes instead portrayed very sympathetically like in Sluthe ,Brawl ,Luck and Con but unlike those episode he gets the last laugh on his family and comes out on top like Malcolm after being grounded for a stupid reason , studying late at a friends house actually wins over his whole family by being the only one allowed inside the gym .

Like seriously he has a deal with them 24 hours a day has a deal with them constantly and yet she’s the bad one for one of the peace and quiet and I’m pretty sure if he ask they probably say no. My least favorite episode of TLH is Heavy Meddle...Honestly, Lincoln’s sisters act like real jerks. Just because Lincoln, didn’t show what he got bullied for??? I’m not sure if I don’t understand this but they threaten too embarrass Lincoln for that??? Really??? This episode is so stupid. Then they try to find the bully, and found the wrong one. Then found out it’s a girl, the sisters ooey about it. During tpying this, I realized that the sisters are WAY into his life. In my opinion, JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE. I know they’re his sisters. I noticed that, unlike say, the bad episodes of Spongebob where they failed in a variety of different ways, aside from a handful of exceptions, it seems the Loud House seems to fail in mostly one way:Lincoln getting blamed, tortured and scolded for either the strangest of reasons, or for actions that weren't even his fault. Also, I believe that is the reason why the Loud House creepypasta "Enough is enough"was created, along with several fanfictions of Lincoln running away

Well No Such Luck had the family not care for Lincoln, and thought Luna, Leni, Lana, Lucy and even Lily were suppose to be nice, also this episode could have been better if the parents weren't around, because they're suppose to care about their kids, even though they said they'll never kick their kids out in Ties That Bind and both of these episodes were written by the same persons. One Coarse Meal, had a character trying to kill himself and we're suppose find that funny, both of them had us believe that Lincoln and Plankton were the antagonists while the family and Mr.Krabs were the good guys, no they're the real antagonists of the episode, and guess what?
