16:18 the thing is till that point Sasuke never saw Gaara fight or kill anyone that's why Naruto and Shikamaru was struck with fear. Sasuke didn't see what happened to Lee nor did he see the two kills Gaara got before his match, it was only by Intel from Kakashi and having Intel from one individual and seeing it with your own eyes are two very different things.

I mean to be fair I love kakashi but he really was playing favorites with Sasuke he even admit it , he was a bad teacher didn’t teach Sakura anything as well but you can’t blame him have to see more of his backstory
He taught them the basics. From there, they all gained different masters. Kakashi wasn’t really given too much of a chance to train them individually like he wanted to.
He taught Sasuke the Chidori and how to better fight because of the threat of Orochimaru, Gaara, and overall cuz of how similar he was.
Jiraiya told Kakashi to focus on Sasuke so as to have a viable option against Itachi, while Jiraiya himself would focus on Naruto.
Only one left out for a bit was Sakura. But that’s because she wasn’t in any immediate danger like Naruto (Akatsuki) and Sasuke (Itachi and Orochimaru) were.
Well maybe that’s because Sakura has her own teacher later. U know the author give them different teachers and and Sasuke actually only learned from kakashi.

Rob's right for sure. There's no way Kakashi would've given Sasuke, a 12-year-old genin, a straight up jonin-level ASSASSINATION technique if he wasn't going against someone as insane and powerful as Gaara in this match. Kakashi would've still been training Sasuke 1-on-1 no matter who he'd be going up against in the finals of the exams, but Gaara is the only reason Kakashi felt the need to teach him such a dangerous technique so early. If Sasuke had been going up against Shikamaru or Naruto or anyone else in the finals, no way in hell would Kakashi have taught him a killing move like that.
Also Lightning is strong against Earth and Kakashi probably assumed Gaara was using an Earth style jutsu. He was technically wrong but still the Chidori/Lightning Blade is a super fast jab designed, by accident as this jutsu wasn't his intention, to pierce through defenses and strike with pure damage. It has, or i guess had, 2 major flaws. 1) the speed required for this jutsu to reach it's max power is faster than most people can react to as most people get faster but don't train reaction time and assume if they're just fast enough then it doesn't matter cause they'll dodge anything the moment they see it. 2) it consumes a massive amount of chakra. Even at his best Kakashi was only able use it with his Sharingan active a max of 8 times in Shippuden. However it seems both these flaws got reduced as Sasuke is seen spamming it later in the series while Kakashi used Kamui and Lightning Blade(both jutsu/abilities that require him using a lot of chakra) along with other jutsu for a full day without getting tired. We've also seen Sasuke use it from point blank a few times dealing damage though it could be argued not it's max. Still every other time we saw it used it required moving at high speeds.

At first I was just dismissing it. But after actually listening to his whole point, it makes Hella sense.
Basically. Kakashi seen his homie's (Gai) student almost get killed in the ring. Naturally Kakashi doesn't want Sasuke to die in the ring. Gaara is the most lethal fighter on the roster. So, he gave that nigga 1 on 1 hard core training that was definitely influenced by Lee's match. That match showed them how nasty Gaara was, and gave Kakashi a good idea of how to prep Sasuke for that fight.
He had that nigga remember the way Lee moved after seeing it with his sharingan, and trained his body to be able to move at that speed.
Why? Because anything less could result Sasuke not being able to get through his sand shield, and also potentially getting caught slipping by the sand as we saw with Lee V Gaara. Lee with his weights off wasn't getting shit on By Gaara. However, he also couldn't put Gaara down. He opened the gates so he could DEFEAT him. In a battle of attrition Gaara wins no diff because his sand is autonomous and requires no chakra or stamina. While Lee's techniques are all taijutsu. And his special techniques all require immense effort to begin with, and/or opening the gates. So it would be better for Lee to use the gates and try and end the fight in a quick explosive manner rather than draw it out.
Also. The gates while very straining, can be conditioned for. Lee can maintain the first 2-3 without consequence. It's the technique the Hidden Lotus that pushes your gate opened body to its newfound limits. Which is what causes the damage. And even then, it's not that bad. It's the fact that Gaara crushed his arm and leg afterwards on top of the previous strain.
Also. To Rob's point, Kakashi trained Sasuke to be able to move that fast. But it was definitely influenced by Lee V Gaara because Kakashi did not condition Sasuke. Sasuke can't move at Lee's speed for anywhere near as long as Lee can.
While there are other reasons, that's definitely a huge contributing factor to Kakashi teaching Sasuke Chidori. He definitely wanted Sasuke to speed blitz the fuck out of Gaara. Give him the hands, then put him down with Chidori. That's pretty much what happened actually. But, Sasuke couldn't put Gaara down and the fight was interrupted by the invasion. But anyway. Like Lee, Sasuke would need a short and explosive battle. Not something long and drawn out.
Kakashi knows over a thousand jutsu. Including clones. He could have taught all his students. He could of taught Sasuke literally a thousand other things. But, Sasuke was fighting Gaara. So, yeah.

Elijah Kisamo Basically the Chidori works best if you have speed which is why he made Sasuke learn speed so he could also teach him Chidori. Chidori is a direct, straight-on attack and it helps greatly that Sasuke possesses the predictive abilities of the Sharingan, making him able to dodge any incoming attacks before he hits his target, thus perfecting the jutsu.

What they don’t realize is this is the first time Gaara had ever been injured. He’s never bled before because the Sand ALWAYS protected him. Even if they did manage to bypass the sand he always had his armor.
Sasuke was the first to draw Gaara’s blood. That’s why he reacted the way he did. Lee did hit him but because of the Sand Armor he didn't actually hurt him.

This argument is bring back memories from when these episodes first came out. And later ones. I've heard lots of these Kakashi vs Gai relationship/rivalry debates. Kudos to Joel and Jerry for skirting that spoiler line so close, lol. These things do get explained later but I think a bunch if it is in some fillers though so who knows if Rob and Pat are going to see those and therefore understand fully.

kakashi and sasuke are the same chakra type which is why he was able to teach sasuke that move. naruto is a different chakra type. They explain this with more detail in shippuden. Also ever since the curse mark kakashi has been paying more attention to sasuke because he needs it. if narutos demon powers had started acting up kakashi would've done the same for naruto.

Kakashi trained Sasuke because they have the same chakra nature and because he reminds him of himself. Plus lightning chakra nature counters earth and sand is made out of earth. Jiraiya trained Naruto due to the fact that he reminds him of himself and his father and all three of them had the affinity to wind nature.

And that if guy didnt teach lee those jutsus then kakashi probably wouldnt have felt the urge to teach sasuke the chidori. Also he has a point. Kakashi probably did teach him that specifically cause he knew sasuke wss gonna fight garaa after seeing that fight with lee. If i remember correctly, garaa was even brought up while tgey were training. I could be wrong though. I dont see why the others couldnt learn chidori. All it is is lightning chakra in your hand. Crushed is probably an understatement cause garaa has liquidized people. Another also. Didnt Lee literally ask guy if he could use the forbidden jutsu? That shows that Lee was relying on it to help with garaa. Idk if he wouldve have died from the lotus but i definitely think he would have died or lost sooner if it wasnt for the 8 gates.
I don't know if you've reached Shippuden yet, so I'll just leave it at this: there's a big reason why Kakashi could only teach chidori to Sasuke, and not to Naruto or Sakura, and it is explained in Shippuden. I don't wanna spoil you if you haven't reached it though, but trust me, Sasuke is the only student of Kakashi who can learn it
And I slightly disagree (?). Rock Lee wasn't lacking in the fight...at first. He was actually capable of using speed against Gaara to gain the upper hand, but then pushed himself too far and ironically put himself in a vulnerable state, which costed him the match

So i feel for where there at rn, thered no reason kakashi couldnt teach it until we later learn in shippuden about natures. But yeah the sharingan thing was a good point. Everyone has Natures but i think if you train hard enough, you can learn more. Cause kakashi said jonins usually learn more than one. And kakashi was a jonin at an age even younger than Naruto.

I certainly think Kakashi was influenced by seeing the effect of Guy's training on the Lee v Gara. Let's not forget that after the fight... Kakashi apologies to Guy throwing shade on his training and agreed that Guy was right to teach Lee those technic. That being said... Kakashi training Sasuke was inevitable. Kakashi is the only known Sharingan user in the village.

Honestly, the real reason is because Kakashi when he saw Neji beat Hinata, he thought “Sasuke doesn’t stand a chance.” Then he saw Gaara, who beat Rock Lee, who’s just as strong as Neji. He knew Sasuke didn’t stand a chance (who he thought was the strongest in team 7) so he taught him the things he’s perfect for. Chidori which can destroy any defense, and Rock Lees speed which can blitz any defense such as Gaara. The only real threat in the chunin exams. Naruto was a wild card. Kakashi is competitive af especially with Gai no question bout it, but I think he just taught it to him because he knew sasuke didn’t stand a chance against monsters like Neji and Gaara.
