In his defense, psylocke knew he had hella bodies. It's not always enough to just be a strong mutant. Angel in this film was a warrior.

What's cool is they weren't made of metal. They were made of his mutation pushed to the extreme. Stronger than metal, light as feathers and strong enough to make him fly.

@@pjd2862 well his body wouldn’t have to constantly fight off Adamantium Poisoning which means his Regeneration would be even faster at the cost of him not being nearly as invulnerable to damage (the Adamantium is the only thing that keeps him from being splattered by the Hulk’s Punches).

@@JonathanHayes-uz3ee realistically he couldn't have flown at all with those original wings even if his bones were hollow like bird bones, they just weren't big enough and the human body doesn't have NEARLY the kind of musculature to flap them. Ever eaten a chicken breast? The 2 biggest muscles in a bird's body are responsible for lifting the wings and flapping them down again. You know that famous Rob Liefeld art of Captain America where Steve's chest is like 1.5' deep? Not even that level of swole would be enough to move the kind of wings necessary to give a human being flight.

Wolverine's bones are coated in adamantium. But tendons and muscles anchor to bones. So they would've had to literally disconnect his entire skeleton from the rest of the body, coat it in adamantium, and let his healing factor fix the damage they did by basically having to cut his skeleton out.
And coating his bones entirely in adamantium means that the white blood cells produced in your bones would never be able to escape the adamantium coating.
Wolverine catches a cold and that's it. He's got a cold for the rest of his life.

@@raven4k998 i also thought that, but it seems comics have an explanation: his metal wings are not made of ordinary metal, but an organic kind of metal, like the one that Colossus has in his body, so while resistant, is also light and flexible, that's why he's able to fly.
If we consider Colossus example, the fact that a real metal man should not be able to move at all (that makes even less sense than the wings) and also that is comics and there are reality warping humans, the organic metal explanation is fine.
That part with the bones coming out of his back is so horrifying ugh
They just copied Diablo 2
At 1:00 you can see that the bones initially protrude out of his rib cage to the side and then move to the back. So he gets sliced open while the bones move in place. Apocalypse just heals him right after. But as Wolverine has stated an immense healing factor means once the wounds heal within seconds you are fine again. But the pain until then is the same as for everyone else. Angel still felt bones shooting out of his rip cage and ripping him open on each side.

Give them what they want, theyll give you what you need. I have no idea where this saying came from, it just kind of represents Apocalypse perfectly. He knows what he wants, goes about finding people with emotional turmoil, gives them power, gives them what they want/need; They love him, not only that, they also fear him for his potential capabilities... To have either love or fear as means of control, fear lasts, but to have both at the same time, its ultimate form of control. Apocalypse is wise as fuck... I should also mention, i didnt rly watch the movie :P

None of Apocalypses horsemen have any real motivation for working with him. He makes them slightly stronger, that’s it. And then in the end Magneto & Storm betray him just because, Angel is too dumb to fly out of the crashing plane, and Psylocke just casually walks away without saying a word. Seriously, I’m not joking.

I wish they kept Angel in the next movies. His struggles with Archangel in books like X-Factor and Uncanny X-Force are really great and make for a compelling character who was previously boring. Plus, his relationship with Psylocke is one of my favourites in all X-Books.
Unfortunately they did Betsy dirty too.

This scene is easily the best fucking part though. Four Horsemen by Metallica playing while a drunken, metalhead version of Archangel in leather pants throws a fucking bottle at Apocalypse.

I just binged X-men in the correct order and this is by far my favourite scene. That angry bad ass, the sadness in his eyes, and then his redemption, all done to the perfect song…. Amazing.
Crazy how the X-Men films (not including Logan) have only had a few truly gruesome scenes, and Angel has been the focus of two of them (this and X-Men 3)

Archangel and Psylocke are two of my favorite X-Men and I think they killed the casting at least with Olivia. I would've loved to have seen their story continue in the following movies.

You have to go back to the original group of Xmen. Flight was not common in the early days and they tried to write things with the characters being human but with "extra", not just super powered like Superman. The characters all had their one trick so to speak. Really, "power creep" is a thing in the Xmen universe. Angel basically got left behind. The Archangel thing made him relevent again for a long while and they used his character for story purposes a lot. Aaaaaaand then he fell off the planet again because there is only so much you can do with his "one trick".
is a interesting character, he can fly back when nobody could, his father is an antimutant and when he lost his wings he make a deal with Mr Sinister to become "Death" the metal angel

If the people at Marvel got their shit together, you'd get him. The very first X-Men team was Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Jean Grey (Marvel Girl). Hopefully, they haven't fucking ruined introducing the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU with that stupid Multiverse of Madness movie, because that is the _obvious_ and _needed_ next step now that the Avengers is done. I would be so psyched to see them take Cyclops and revitalize him, make people not hate him, and turn him into a boyscout-ish, almost Captain America character who isn't tainted by all the shit that's happened to him in the comics. Same with Jean Grey, if they can just hold their load on the damn Phoenix Force story.

He’s opportunistic he sees a battle hardened warrior who’s gotten damaged over time so he repairs him and upgrades him too this ensures Angels loyalty something Apocalypse is keen on. He also has 2 very powerful mutants already and knows they’re about to recruit another powerful one after this one so he is likely fine having a slightly weaker loyal follower because if he perished he’d just get a new mutant to replace him.

I love how after the upgrade he looks at his hands, puzzled, but the hands didn't change, his wings did ahahaha
I always put that down to him feeling the new nerve connections in his wings that let him fire the blades. He can feel something new he has control of but cant immediately tell what; so he looks at his hands trying to mentally trace the new functions as you would trying to make one of your fingers move independently. He's looking at his hands keeping them steady whilst 'twitching' the new muscle and boom, flying wing blades of death!
He's an egotistical leader with a god complex. He doesn't just want followers that are strong, he can make anyone strong. He chose Angel because he was at his lowest, and by giving him the chance to be strong, he's gained his trust and loyalty.
Perfect, you just made Magneto a new toy. 😂

Every time someone makes a movie that is a negative 2 on a scale of 1-10....an Angel gets his wings.
In Xmen TAS , angel was brainwashed, and when he came to his sences, he was broken. This version does not show how horrible is Apocalypse.

@Jarrod Hollenbeck Actually the grey blue skin is not common among the Horseman of Apocalypse. In fact Arcangel is one of the few to have that happen to them. The only other example I can name off the top of my head was Rogue in Avengers Alliance.
