- On this week's episode of The Breakdown, brought to you by Sky Bet, we took a closer look at why so many teams favour short corners this season and whether or not they are better than regular corners.
Do you think short corners have a genuine purpose or do you believe that getting it in the mixer will always be a more effective style of play?

I absolutely dispise short corners. The amount of times it ends up back at the keep is criminal.
So do none short corners
What you didn't cover was
Of all the long cross (and short cross) attempts taken, how many lead to a turnover and opposition goal within the next, say, 3 minutes
🙂
What I was thinking... Or even after 3 minutes of play
Short corners can also give you a more threatening angle if you want to cross it
Nice overlap! 👍
ah cool so I just need to have passers as good as Man City to be able to do short corners. Cool I'll try that at sunday league next week
Did anyone notice how much spurs were playing for corners and high throw ins. I've not seen anything like it in years. They messed about with it at the back for minutes at a time until there was a gap down either wing. When wingers got the ball, they seemed to be trying to win a corner almost above putting a cross in.
I didnt no, i will keep a eye out for this next game
Where’s this weeks stick to football ??
The important piece of information that you overlooked here is that, 95% of the time teams take a short corner, they try to manufacture a cross anyway, so it is a complete waste of time.
Corners are generally a waste of time. Fake threat no danger 95% of the time
Isn't it a 95% waste of time then?
@@tyronevaldez-kruger5313 I'm saying it's a complete waste of time in any instance where you decide to cross it anyway.
@@jonnyharding3646 okay that makes sense thanks
@@jonnyharding3646 you’re missing the movement from players after the short corner is taken, also the angle you’re crossing from
do you really think you have uncovered some major flaw in short corners that no major team in the whole world has?
If you are taking a short corner leave the centre backs on the halfway line in their shape. Seems pointless them going up if they are trying to play and walk the ball into the net rather than cross.
Wey aye they work!!
when you start your video about short corner then put TAA picture in .
Corner taken quickly > short corner
Please interview Jude Bellingham! 🐢🐢🐢
cant see why teams play a first ball short and then cross it in short corners to feet i understand
It's "those", not "them"
The number of regional grammaticisms was doing my head in too!
@@Eishikigami it's just football them regional grammatisism is negligible
Long corners provide that much longer for the defence to react
Short corners have less air time and additionally require less skill to execute
Eg; Beckham and Juninho skills are very rare
But short corners allow less skilled players to still be dangerous
🙂
They work for United cos hardly any of the players can head a ball. McTominay proved that yesterday and Rashford is worse.
I worry more about how we can't defend them
Can’t even produce a decent cross in the first place. Bruno needs to be taken off corners
Ask Bruno and Rashford 😅🎉😂
If you want to score, short corners are useless. If you want to waste time or keep the ball, maybe
Not true
My problem with short corners is 9/10 they will shoot seconds after / cross straight away & goes out for a GK..
The amount of times you see it & think you’ve just wasted the CB’s time running up for nothing is astonishing.
Nope. Not a fan. Never have been.
Not the best overlap content
Corners being dangerous is an English myth just like the PL being competitive.
Does the name origi ring a bell to you mate
