That was awesome!! First album I ever purchased was Meat Is Murder back in 85 and that was my start to alternative music. I listen to everything from Smiths to Siouxsie and a lot of punk rock. 80s were the greatest time for music!
A highlight memory of my youth .. I worked ( with StaffPro) Morrissey’s 1st LA concert (Kill Uncle) in 91’ at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood ..Awesome Show he was of course Brilliant And the appearance of David Bowie for the last song duet of Cosmic Dancer was a added surprise #TheSmiths/#MorrisseyFan4Life✨
Great 👍. As usual. Richard Blade still around,, and still going strong. He had a daily show I believe channel 9 in L.A back in '83, where he would play the latest videos such as, duran duran, culture club, David Bowie etc. I forgot his name actually and trying to remember it. Thanks Kurt
This was a fantastic video with a lot of textures and into it. The bands sound awesome great coverage. I am so happy that you were able to get the VIP treatment to stand behind the stage. Way to go Kurt…..
Morrissey's music video for "Suedehead" was filmed in the town I was born and raised in. I was just a kid when he did it, but it helped me start listening to other kinds of music.
I was there that night and yes, it was very hot that evening. Great performances by both bands and I will definitely be attending the next convention. BTW, the table with the popular merch belonged to the show organizer, Ray at Kaos Records in Covina.
No way. Met morrissey in front of tower records in 2006 . He snubbed us of course. Fond memories of Avalon / palace . Saw nofx Lagwagon bouncing souls and many others there 🖤🖤🖤
Ok, so wow. I think I forget there’s people everywhere that like everything but I didn’t think they’d ever be a Smiths convention in America! I tend to think the Smiths, Kinks and The Jam are so very very English. Awesome to see!
back in the 80s, I listened to punk, like dead kennedys, sex pistols, minor threat, etc... but in secret I jammed the cure and the smith's. hell, even the pet shop boys
The same organizer did a Depeche Mode convention at the same location a few months after this one. He's been doing both conventions for many years now.

I was at that Forum show for Kill Uncle tour.
Wow, what a cool memory!
Fitting tribute for Mozzer’s Kurt! Can’t wait for the Richard Blade interview! Thanks for sharing! 🕶✌️❤️
Morrissey used to live on Sweetzer Ave just off Sunset blvd, right next to Johnny Depps mansion. He actually sold the house to Depp when he moved.

My pleasure. Thank you for sounding great and playing one of my favorites.
Seen Morrissey twice. Amazing. Like a religious experience.

Jonny Marr used be be in my dads old post punk band Sister Ray when he was about 15 years old.
Alan White is awesome! That is cool he came to the convention.
Yeah, I thought that was a nice surprise

Met? Or saw?
Yeah he always came across as a humorless pain in the ass.
We approached him and his bodyguard turned us away. Idk 🤷♂️ I definitely didn’t speak to him
Haha. Sounds about right

The Smiths/Morrissey have always had a strong following in Los Angeles, especially with the Latino community.
