      Glad it was helpful! I hope your training is going well. Good luck wit it. Let me know how it turns out for you and what you thought of it when you complete your Half Marathon. As much as I love the Garmin Coach programs, I started using their self guided plans about a year ago. They still upload to your watch and phone which is super convenient. Mainly I switched up because they currently don't offer a Full Marathon Garmin Coach program but they do have several self guided plans. I've been using their Intermediate Marathon plan. I've gone through the 16 week program twice to prepare for the Bayshore and Detroit Marathons this year and I plan to use it again beginning December 26th to help me prepare for the Boston and Chicago Marathons in 2023. Have a great day and Happy Holidays.

    How useful do you think garmin coach is? I’m stuck between getting a Fenix 7 or an Apple Watch and the coach is the main selling point of Garmin for me.

    • @RunTall
      @RunTall  Před rokem +5

      Oh hands down go with the Fenix you’ll love it. I use the Fenix 6 and it’s awesome! Garmin has tons of training programs that upload directly to your watch. One of the biggest selling points for me is the battery life. I go around 12 days between charges and I workout 5 days a week. Apple is a great smart watch but I would buy the Fenix over the Apple for a Sport watch. It’s been a great tool to help me prepare for the Bayshore Marathon and the upcoming Detroit Free Press Marathon on Sunday. I just uploaded my latest training recap of you want to check out some of the data and feedback you can expect to get. Have a great week!

    I have just finished week 8 out of 13 for half marathon and I have exactly the same view on the Garmin Coach as you have. I already know that I will continue using the program even after I finish this one. Before that, I was “just running”, swallowing kilometers and trying to increase my pace. With questionable success. Now, every run is different and much more fun. As you said in the video also my easy runs became much easier now. I found out, that I can keep a difficult pace for a period of time that I couldn’t even imagine. And what is the most important for me, it still keeps me motivated. That was the biggest struggle for me in the past. I think “running with a goal” is the way for me. Looking forward to next videos!
    Just wondering, is the final race part of the program? I mean is the “Half Marathon race” the final training of the Garmin Coach?

    • @RunTall
      @RunTall  Před 4 lety

      That's awesome. I'm glad it's going so well for you! To answer your question, yes your half marathon race is the last workout of the training program. My plan is to simply start a new training session. What I'm trying to decide is which one. I'd like to improve my 5K pace. Every year I run a 5K Turkey Trot with my family in late November. So that might fit right in. I'm still trying to decide. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great day. Tim

    • @RunTall
      @RunTall  Před 3 lety

      Yes, absolutely. The program helps to build your overall fitness level gradually. I'm currently using this program to train for a Half Marathon trail race. My approach is to run these workouts out on the trails as much as I can to reproduce race conditions. It's definitely harder than road racing but it's fun. My heart rate tends to be in zone 5 most of the time even on easy run workouts because of the elevation gain and loss of the trails. I have found it to be helpful to me. I guess the real test will be come on race day...lol. Hey thanks for watching and asking the question. Have a great day.

      @@RunTalli Tim, great video! I also find the Garmin program very tempting but as an older runner I am concerned that the high intensity workouts will cause me to have an injury. Just the benchmark run already asks for a full out 1km run only after 2min warmup. That is just asking for trouble in my opinion so deffinatelly would do it with a lot longer warmup!! . Do you think it is possible to follow the program but to modify it so that it would help to avoid injury? E. G. Less high intensity and more slower runs instead? Or will it make better sense not to use the Garmin coach at all and build a total other program?
