Let's be honest given our AWFUL away form Wagner thinking that a 0-0 at home against Leeds was fine to take into an away match against one of the best teams in the divison was pretty cringe
What really annoyed me we score a goal against Ipswich because they thought it was to far out to score.
And three weeks later we made the same mistake and faced the consequences.
Leeds have a great forward line but we gifted the first two goals.
Appreciated we are going to lose but let's make it as hard as possible Sigh
Heindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it? Maybe we are a little gullible, but I am sure 99% of Norwich fans believed it was possible. That was up to 8pm Thursday night...
@@TonyHedgesGiven the number of people saying we desperately needed a decent goal cushion going into the second leg, I would say it was foresight, not hindsight.
Maybe Norwich just weren't good enough against Leeds? I watched both legs and believe me, they were completely outclassed at Elland Road. Norwich was 2nd to every ball and created what, one or two chances?
Norwich did well with such an average squad to reach the play-offs, and it's unlikely they'll get promoted next season. Too cut throat from the board for me
Leeds fan here and have really enjoyed your podcasts . Best of luck for next season
Best of luck in the playoff final
Always had a bit of a soft spot for Leeds - loved players like Kewell, Viduka, Woodgate, Duberry, and Carew (not sure if they are all actually loved by the LUFC fanbase or not). Hoping they beat Southampton as I would love to see the Portsmouth/Southampton derbies next season.
Leeds were good but we were shocking,I've seen Norwich win ,3,1at Leeds and 4,0,with a jerry Goss screamer but the other night this has to be on par with the 6,0,defeat at Fulham,7,1, against Colchester at home,Leeds could of easily had more than 4goals,it's going to have to be a major clearout of players, some who are to old, some who need to be sold to Ballance the books and bring in new talent, for the final it's ex player v ex manager who I thought highly of both, Martin is a top professional as a player and now with the saints,Farke got us 2leauge titles so it's a close call who will win 🇬🇫🏴💛💚👍
Good luck Leeds!
Hope U win the final Leeds utd,I would love to c Farke on match of the day every week, still a legend in my eyes 🤞🏳️⚪💛💚🏴🇩🇪😆🇬🇫
It was a shocker of a night but not unexpected... attack was at best 50% fit and Leeds exposed our leggy back 4, give it a few weekes and the vultures will be circling so i dont think it will feel much better, I'm wierdly excited though new coach, Karama to return and if we had have gone up we would be a mile away from it, this way we can build better foundations with a less cautious apporach, great summary Jack 🙌💛💚
Since this time last year, the club has taken the first, massive steps forward with the Attanasio group, so our ownership is set going forward (with substantially more money than Delia & Michael have). We’ve also replaced SW with Ben Knapper, and improved from a below-mid-table finish last year to the playoffs this season.
We have a strong academy, some very good players coming back from loans, and the opportunity to bring in fresh leadership with a new head coach. We may not make the playoffs in season 1 of the new project, but I do think it’ll be a fun ride for all of us. And keep in mind that some clubs don’t manage these kinds of transitions until they’ve been relegated and spent a few seasons in League 1. 💛💚OTBC
Fulham Fan here...great analysis and would love to see you back in the Premiership
I thought the fact that Wagner thanked all the players and staff at Norwich City for their support over the time he has been there in the post-match interview was pretty indicative that he knew he was for the chop.
I think Wagner should go back to Huddersfield. It’s the only club that will give Wagner a warm welcome back and will follow him anywhere and I think it’s best for Wagner too.
For me the problem was more the first leg performance. We all knew that a two goal lead was needed for that second leg, and the first leg felt like a defeat. Consequently, the team went into that second leg not believing and as you said with players not close to bring match fit. We got what we deserved.
Thanks Jack, agree with what you say. I believe DW knew that his days were numbered at Carrow Road whatever the circumstances (even if we made it to PL) and that has to be unsettling and reflect on the squad.
We need a refresh and interesting times ahead. Have a good summer and looking forward to the Euros! August will be here before we know it! OTBC 🔰
Wagner knew he was sacked before the Leeds games started. He was smiling, was overly relaxed and not at all worried about the result. He gave up any effort to play attacking football, getting the tactics wrong for 3 of the 4 halves against Leeds. I just hope we don’t replace him with an old Norwich ‘Board friendly’ player, but get a serious manager who will not suffer the likes of Gibson, or waste time and money as we did with Van Hooijdonck
Thanks Jack your punditry was a such a real supportfor David as Norwich City’s manager. He deserved more time play off finals reached ! given the players he had to work with.
Heartily sick of the comments about him and the way the club gave him the bum’s rush.
Now how about swapping my support to Ipswich . There’s a decent club and manager is it time to drop the whingers from Norfolk?
Supporting Norwich
Leeds fan here, watch alot of your podcast videos Jack decent channel you have going, as for the game itself I was bamboozled as to how poor Norwich were, I'd of atleast expected you to go for it, might not get that chance for a few seasons now.
It was such a weak display. I switched off after the 3rd goal as there was no way I could see us coming back, we need a refresh.
Can't say I'm too sorry Wagner has gone, but he's hardly been supported by the board. We couldn't even bring on a centre forward for the second half.
Top man as always
Be careful what we wish for everyone, that's all I'm saying. OTBC x x
I would discount Will Still, I am not 100% sure, but he doesn't have the correct coaching accreditation to manage Norwich. I can't see the club paying the £25k per game fine for having a manager without a pro coaching badge. I will be pretty upset if we sell Sainz, Sara and/or Rowe. For me this would be an indication of a longer path back to the Prem. I am pretty sure that we already have a team that is good enough for automatic promotion, with the right manager in-place. If we sell our star players it says to me that the club thinks that not sticking its neck out financially is more important than keeping good players we have and building a team around them. It's about ambition at the end of the day, and selling star players shouts "fold, I'm out" when we should be saying "check".
Absolutely embarrassing and totally humiliated, pathetic all round. Players looked totally uninterested in competing
I've been to a few away games this year (luckily missed the Leeds/Plymouth debacles) but the contrast between Rotherham and Birmingham away and Huddersfield and Stoke away was like watching two different teams......... incredulous 💛💚 OTBC
Not starting a fit Sainz was it for me with Wagner...
That wright sir first went up to watch Norwich paly1971 72 seson
I agree with looking forward to the future, for instance ive resolved that I'm gonna have my first away day next season
Nuñez should've jumped in the wall for the first one, Gunn shied away from catching the ball for the second, Duffy PASSED THE BALL to Rutter for the third, Gunn and the whole defence reacted poorly for the fourth. Just an embarrassment of a defensive performance and then could get nothing going forward except that Sargent chance which was really well saved by Meslier. A real wake up call that this team isn't ready to be back in the Premier League yet.
We bottled it when we went on rest mode against Birmingham. Southampton fans don't create that type of atmosphere
Jack always been right about wagner Ipswich fan
Jack loved you on the racing post casts....what are you currently doing??
Jack who would you like as Norwich City head coach again there has been so many names mentioned I quite like the look of Steve Cooper I don’t know why it’s just he did a good job at Forest he is kept up
The term “ Papering over Cracks “ couldn’t be more apt for this team. In the end, a class team, with it all on the line over two games will prevail. Leeds basically took us behind the bike sheds on Thursday and let’s not forget, over the last few games also. You have to delve into games and not just rely on stats. Gapping holes in defence most weeks, not capitalised on by the opposition doesn’t mean because you kept a clean sheet you have a good defence. That performance on Thursday is basically who we are at this moment in time. Time to move on and get ready for another crack at it. OTBC 💚💛
I think you need to be realistic Jack. Leeds squad is far superior to Norwich's as is Southampton's compared to WBA hence we had arguably the 2 most one sided semi finals, ever. Take out the top 4 this season and the Championship is very poor in terms of quality.
If we aren't up for a game like this, when will we be with a playoff final at Wembley and possibly a place in the premier League next season. Let's hope for better times next season OTBC 💛💚
Hopefully Barnes and Duffy will be on the released list, or free to find another club etc.
Norwich before away leg : big club, strong squad, play offs minimum, quietly confident, best goalkeeper
Norwich after away leg : unfair sides, actually squad isn’t very good, never going up anyway
There was no point in Norwich trying to get promoted in the present set up at Norwich as it would have been another season in the Premier struggling at the bottom.getting beaten every week.
Although I am sure we all want to be in the Premier league we cannot compete at that level.and would take the money and run if we did.
Until there is change at the top and the right model is in place I am.happy for Norwich to stay in the Championship until I can look forward to us competing when we get there.
This squad would have been humiliated in the PL.
Great run by Wagner from the turn of the year up to about a month ago to even be in the convo for playoffs, but since Knapper joined City it was as if David was on borrowed time, no matter the outcome he'd leave at the end of season.
I can stomach my team losing BUT losing without putting up a fight is disgraceful, Wagner had no ability to impact games or change strategy mid game that's why he's gone
Good luck David. Which recycled manager/coach will walk through the door at Carrow Rd next who is currently out of work!! hmm!
I pointed to the fact Norwich were 19th in the away league table and it proved true. Just too reliant on home form.
If Norwich get Carlos Cuesta , he's an absolute gem , my only feat is its a little too early for him. But if you watch the Arsenal amazon series, you'll see he's an amazing man manager, he's increasingly the link between the players and the more unapproachable Arteta.
Apparently, a UK work permit is being sorted out, according to the rumour mill, for the manager, which would surely mean Will Still and his brother Nick as coach. Maybe someone English but not raised there but eager to make an impact there, might be good, plus with some old school grit but also, modern passing football braincells?
Would you keep Mc Callum
At the start of the season who would’ve predicted you’d be as high as you finished?
If southampton loses to leeds next week we should try get russell martin as head coach off norwich
Why would he come to us? Saints have much more of a developed squad/more chance of promotion next season/more money than we do
@@simonhewitt147 I know they probably have more money than us but he knows how to win games
Egon is back..
Leeds fan, you were awful at Elland Road and lucky it was only 4. Good luck for next season, hopefully we won't see you other than in a Cup but this is Leeds...known for grasping defeat from the jaws of victory ;) I think you may lose a couple of stars since no more parachute payments, so it might be a challenging season for you? Wagner was never for you...right decision!
Wagner should have gone 6 months ago
Wait, so I guess we’re not “pissing the play-offs” anymore then?
Wait, so I guess you're not still crying about Wagner getting an 'apology' from Jack and Chris?
@@Garbage_Pail_Kid Jack and Chris' inevitable backtrack upon reaching the play-offs was sufficient that no tears were shed.
As a former subscriber I only watched this to leave a smart remark
I quit on 5mins 52 as a reluctant part time one off supporter of this content.
Maybe you should reflect on the example you set by leaving early and then using this supporter led channel to justify your shameful behaviour.
UP THE CITY.
Wow, where would this club or channel be without fans like you. 😂
@@Garbage_Pail_Kid I am a supporter. Not a fan.
Give Aboh a go next season as well...
He's out of contract and won't be here next season
He will be gone
Glad he’s gone. He should’ve gone after Plymouth or definitely Blackburn.
100% agree...
The ultimate yo yo club, just didn't yo this year
AHAHAHAHAHA! That was sooooo good to watch, you played as expected, dogs*it! 😂 🤣 😂
Yeah, this dogsh*te version of Norwich...that you guys STILL couldn't beat over two games. In your glorious '2nd place' season. 😂
I love that those results are going to haunt you guys for at least a year or so - no matter how much you try to enjoy your promotion. And we will all be there for you once McKenna joins Brighton and you guys get spanked by the bigger boys.
Man, possibly be close to 17 years next time Norwich play you guys. Let that sink in. 🥳
Take it you binmen will go back to supporting Chelsea when Kieran McGnome leaves and you get pumped every week next season?
Good to watch U lose 4,0, aswell and the Maidstone fa cup game was good to watch, but the 1,I enjoyed most of our average season was our victory over U as most of your fans thought that was your chance to beat us and U still couldn't break that curse we have over Ipswich, looks like McKenna will be gone soon, take your pick, Brighton,Chelsea or man utd,not a bad bunch to be manager of, enjoy your 1season in the premiership 🤣🚜💛💚🏴🐤🇬🇫
Leeds fan here, not surprised by the cockwomble comments, and arrogance that starts with your miss-manager..
Norwich were outplayed, end of.. Ipswich will be straight down and you'll be crying into your beers..
With all due respect, leaving early is poor form. Norwich worked very hard to even reach the play-offs, and the least you can do is show gratitude for the seaaon they gave you. You can't just sing when you're winning...
Did you go by any chance
Nice one Jack can’t disagree
Wagner was doing a great job. Mind the gap.
COYB
Just wait for McKenna to leave and your lot hiring Wagner just like you did with Lambert 😂. Good luck in the Prem you’re gonna need a lot of that to not be the next Sheffield United!
Absolutely obsessed. Enjoy getting destroyed every week in the prem 😂 The gnome McKenna will be off soon anyway and your plastic "fans" will go back to supporting Chelsea again.
@@SimonJ184Those days are well gone with the new regime, you can bet they're already doing their research to find the next bright young manager in prep for when he does leave, hopefully not for a while..
I love that 'Mind the Gap' is STILL in their heads, even after all these years. Doesn't really work quite so well when one team finishes second and the other in sixth, but I don't expect those mutants in Suffolk to be able to write their own original material. 😂
@@Garbage_Pail_Kid isn't that a really big gap then?
