- Yiche Goldenport Track (YGT): A 2-km racetrack with a mix of 13 turns and a 455-meter straight, designed for thrilling races. Located in Beijing, China.
Leaderboard: We've got 117 lap records on our leaderboard, all set by our unique driver, the guru. With his super power for quickly adapting to any vehicle, he consistently achieves maximum lap times for each car. Link:(docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...)
About Vehicle Modification and Wear: To ensure the authenticity and objectivity of our channel, most of the test vehicles are provided by our audiences. Consequently, some cars undergo significant modifications, improving lap times, while others might have severe tire wear or be too old, impacting their performance. We disclose these details in the video.
Levels of Modification: We classified 4 levels for mods.
- Level 0: Includes factory-standard cars and those with only tire, brake, and "mood" part replacements. As many older cars have discontinued tires and rare brake pads, we allow minor tire upgrades.
For example, upgrading from original tires to PS4 for a Civic or from PSS to CUP2C for an M2C is acceptable. However, upgrading a Civic to CUP2C tires counts as a modification.
- Level 1: Light modifications, including tires, wheels, suspension, brakes, intake/exhaust systems, and ECU. Modifications to the engine and gearbox internal structure are not allowed, nor are R-Comp tires. This category is the most common for entry-level modified cars.
- Level 2: Moderate modifications, such as internal engine forging, larger turbos, cylinder expansion, or transplanting non-performance engines. Transmission system modifications, like LSD + larger final drives, are permitted. Thermal-melt tires are allowed.
- Level 3: Race-level modifications. There are no restrictions here. This includes professional race cars, performance engine transplants, sequential gearboxes, and altered suspension structures.
- Level -1: Typically refers to using tires of lower specifications than the original factory standard, such as on an A45, or carrying a passenger (additional weight).

In Australia, the Type R is 15- 20K more expensive. It makes the N even more appealing as it’s such a great weapon.
😂Same! In China, the price difference is 22k USD.
In the US is also the same. Type Rs go roughly for 50k+. N around 35k.
The quality and detail in these videos are super informative and entertaining! It's nice to see FWD being an underrated force in the track
Glad you enjoy our deep dives into the details. Keep watching for more! Much Love!
can't wait for the delivery of my N soon~ Great coverage, more content please! Love from Canada
Thrilled to hear your excitement, Mike! We'll make sure to keep the content coming. Enjoy the ride once your N arrives, and thanks for the support from Canada!

Great video and comparison. Thanks
How did you find the FL Elantra N compared to the PFL on track? Any noticeable difference?
We did comparison between FL and PFL Elantra N in our previous vidro. Please check it out: czcams.com/video/0FvJU_Ta6H0/video.html
Can’t wait till I pick the N when it’s here in California.
Don't waste your money and energy in order to run slower. In the past, expensive automatic transmission wasted a lot of energy, so there was a reason to use manual transmission. But with DCT, you can drive faster by focusing on handling and braking. Only 7-speed DSG Golf R wins EN DCT which wins all MT cars(300hp) even in drag.
Can you share more details on cooling for elantra dct vs tyoe r. I think dct has more heat but us there trans cooler and oil cooler to manage that? Type r has turbo placement issue and there is no good solution I guess
DCT doesn't necessarily lead to more heat, especially when you look at track days where you would see Porsches and M Power (espically F chassis) cars keeping cool better than most. These models are big on using DCTs.
Whether the Elantra N has a specially designed transmission cooler is unclear to me, but I'm confident its cooling is among the best in its price range.
As for the Type R's turbo placement issue, I've hardly heard of it, possibly due to the low ownership rate of Type R in China, I'm not quite sure.
@KeyboardRacerCult thanks! Keep me posted in the brake fluid issue if you find solution for that.
Was it in comfort mode when you do the type r?
We used the “individual mode” not comfort mode. The power was set to sport mode but the chassis was chosen to be in comfort mode. This is because being in sport mode isn't necessarily faster, which might be a misconception for most people. This is because the Type R's chassis is too stiff, and its so-called sport mode just makes it stiffer. However, on the racetrack, it's not always the case that the stiffer the suspension, the faster the car goes. The suspension needs to match the tire grip. For this track, such high damping isn't needed. If you check out other reviewer, for example, when Keiichi Tsuchiya tested the Type R in Japan using the sport mode, the car was bouncing so much that he felt his head was about to hit the car roof. It was just too bumpy if you put suspension in sport mode.
However, it must be pointed out that the Chinese version of the Type R has been detuned in terms of horsepower compared to the international version (due to some emission regulations), so its power is inherently not as good as the international version. This has nothing to do with whether it is in sport mode or not (although the impact is small, but in the test, we chose the sport mode for power).
The FL5 is just WAY too expensive in my eyes. It costs 59k here in Germany, you can get a freaking Mustang GT for that. The i30N here costs 42k fully equipped, with dealers giving a nice discount; got mine for a bit less then 37k and it has everything except the panoramic sun roof.
Great comparison video I just subscribed to your channel.
Thank you! Much love!
@@KeyboardRacerCult No problem you're welcome brother.
Really good video man, I took a i30N sedan 24 model for a run this morning as I am thinking of buying one and trading in my volks polo gti 23 model, it's only a little bit faster than the polo but it felt more exciting and maybe more stable higher speed probably because of the longer wheel base. I took the type r for a drive and loved it I was ready to put a deposit down but it destroys my left knee as i'm 42 I just can't handle manuals anymore it was a very good and sad day all in one.
Sorry to hear the manual was tough on your knee, but glad you enjoyed the i30N. We'd see the 'N' as more hardcore, truly deserving of the driver's car title. Think of the GTI like BMW's M Performance line, while Hyundai's N and VW's R models are more akin to the full M Power experience. Going for the 'N' is sure to amp up your driving pleasure!
Honda ❤
I din't know until i test-drove the 2023 Elantra N. I bought one and 6 months later, I am N love with the car. It's like that partner that maybe isn't as good looking but you find out treats you so well and is magic in bed. The Elantra N looks better to me every day.
You were driving the R in sport mode not on R mode , so you cant get the best perfomance our of it
The video quality is quite high.
Gotta remember how terrible hyundai is to their customers though, especially any N models.
Not here in aus they actually treat us good!
@@satinder4367 oh well thats lucky you guys.
no offense bro but you really gotta invest into a better microphone.. it would really make your videos better
Thank you for your suggestion! We have also noticed this issue and will work on improving the sound quality in the future. Hopefully we would have better sound quality in upcoming videos!

For people saying the type r should be on stiffest setting you guys are either doesn't know anything about track driving or straight fanboy. The type r chassis is too stiff plus the super stiff suspention, you guys are asking for bouncing car attacking the corner which can cause the car to actually lose grip thus understeering or will send you to an uncontrolled oversteer plsu the mechanical lsd on the type R is pretty overrated tbh. The N wins interms of price and suspention set up. Take note the N is only pushing 15-16psi MAX while type r is pushing 25psi, put em on the same power as the type r and i guarantee you it will spank that type r.
Why run the type r in comfort mode. Your missing the whole point of it. Your loosing power and throttle inputs aswell as steering. Nothing is accurate with this test when your not using steering and engine power to the full potential
Firstly, the test used the “individual mode” not comfort mode.
Secondly, the lap time of this Type R is actually quite fast, making it the fastest FF on our list.
Lastly, I want to say that over 95% of the cars on our channel come from our viewers, not manufacturers or their competitors, so we have no reason to slow down a car's lap time. In fact, we are trying our best to push each car to its limit.
The CTR will hold its value, and do it looking really good. The N is gonna age poorly, from a design perspective … too many sharp angles and typical embellishments.
Meanwhile the FK8 will age the worst because it's ugly af.
@@paulklp8262 100!
Poor comparison lol.
so, the N is not manual? WTF? makes 0 sense to compare the CTR to a car for ladies.

For the price, the N for the win.
no price for the true driving experience than a Type R can provide which N can't even come close to
