- Probably one of my favorite UNKNOWN racing games on the Gamecube, Extreme G3 does an interesting job at hitting its own high notes. I think you F-Zero racing fans will be pleased at this video.

I bought this game today 7th of December 2019.
this was one of the first games i ever played on the gamecube and was one of those where i truly felt like i'd suddenly hit the future of gaming after the n64. it had a total "wow" factor on its release and i still think it holds up great today. nice to see it get some youtube love!
And at 60FPS running in a wonderful look too, this game truly deserves so much love, much more than it deserves.

This was one of the pack in titles when I purchased my very first playstation 2, also came with crazy taxi & desert storm (and something else which I forget ATM).

I had my GCN when I was in 4th grade.. someone heard me talking about Pokemon XD and FZero, and he lended me this game, and I did the same with SMBMelee.. I played this game within the first five months of having my GC..
I never forgot about it.. ever.. I, love it..

Yes, why are you take a beating on one of the railings or when you get shot by weapons from other players, your shield make it worn down due to the timer to speed, multiple amount of crashes and weapon damages, which you do need to keep a careful eye on that meter

Extreme G3 is WAY better on the Gamecube btw, its more a matter of a ton of polish over the PS2 version.
You asking for a Port vs Port of this cuz it sure is possible!!
I’m more noting the differences, cause the PS2 version has some noticeable problems over the GameCube version.

Had the PS2 version on release. Never regretted it. It's the first game I completed on the PS2. The soundtracks were amazing on my sony 5.1 Amp, I still listen to the tracks on MP3. Breaking the sound barrier was cool but if you used the boosters you'd never leave it but you need the infinite shield cheat for that.
Certainly one of the best games on the PS2.
An underrated classic but slaps harder than any kinda rubber band I ever seen 👀
I always refer to this game as the middle ground between F-Zero and Wipeout. That opinion still stands.

The weapon system in the game was amazing, much better than Wipeout. My favourite thing was to get the Rail gun and then try to eliminate every opponent on the track besides my teammate :D
i found the default weapon to be the only thing worth using other than buying engines and shields

Absolutely freaked out when i found this game at a game store. Use to play this when i was a kid ! Im hoping theres a way to jailbreak this for a psp and hope they remaster this too.
You caN probably play Extreme G on the 64 emulated on PSP but no further than that.
i still got my copy of this game, me and my siblings were only able to get 1 game that the 3 of us could play together since my parents didnt have much money.
Was a great game to play man and Def with a big family too.man
I actually bought a copy last year off ebay but had to return it. The entire case art and manual had horrible water damage which the seller only noted as minor in the description.
God just hearing that is absolute cringe man..........BUT if you ever find it dood, make sure to swipe it if condition permits!
The co-op campaign with 2 players in one team is fucking incredible and the game design for it is seriously intricate.
I haven't experienced to this degree but you convincing me to try man!
Really late to the review. I've been playing it for years and when you mention about the music and how one caught your attention in the Cyberpunk city. It was more than likely the music from: Megalopis 7 as this was a remake from the original first game!

BTW, I don't agree that it looks like a budget title at first glance. It looks too good to be true on the ps2 xD Arguably some of the coolest environments and skyboxes in that game :D I would always crash into the track while getting sucked into the backgrounds because of how nice looking they are.
Can you ride on futuristic bikes, that reminds you of Tron, rather than hovering vehicles

This is a great game! Not as good as F-Zero GX but it's really the only other game I've played that has that same sense of speed
Games, like this are truly hidden gems, and a prime example of the direction of games today. Doesn't fit the trend of whats popular remakes, and todays focus of money instead of creative.
Exactly, to some degree it's pretty archaic, but that's why it can be hidden as well. Damnnits still fun to play through though.b
Nothing was better a part 1 - the original, 2 and 3 was mistakes, hope e remake of part 1 arrives at switch

Didn’t forget ... but we’re probably also not seeing it because Acclaim died ... some other publisher bought off the IP, but they are just sitting on it; and they released a meh port of Extreme G2 on Steam ... if they expected to sample the hunger for the XG franchise with that, they really should have used XG3 rather.
Agreed as it contains the best features the series has to offer. Just a shame not to hear of it as much.
It was not that much amount of shields in this motorcycle your vehicle takes a beating fast
I never forgot it. It was a hard and good game

@@Kelphelp i loved combining the booster and flamethrower for crazy speeds on the tournaments and the pressing down keeps your speed going upvertically and pressing up keeps your speed going downvertically (if you dont you take a fairly big hit to speed boosting or not)

Patrick Thibault 3 is great for the racing aspect and the hardcore difficulty. But i dont like how the weapon system is a mess. Not much combat in this game

@@Kelphelp I think he meant to say "follow up". There is a sequel, but they called it XGRA and did a terrible job marketing, so even a lot of fans of the series don't know it exists. I think it even came out the same year Akklaim went under. It's a bigger and more ambitious game than XG3, and has some of the best tracks in the series, but the framerate takes a hit as a result. 3 is probably the better game overall due to being more polished, but XGRA is still worth playing. And cheap. Get the Xbox version if you can, as it has the most stable framerate, but the GC version is still fine. Never played the PS2 version myself, but it is supposed to be the worst port.
In fact, XGRA would be make a great port vs port vs port video :)

See this is why this game is fuckin baller.
Personally, I always found XG2's sense of speed to be comically bad, and XG3's much more believable. After all, when you're breaking the sound barrier, despite the race looking like a typical motocross race travelling at less than 100 mph, then you might have to guess that those must be some really big bikes if you're not willing to throw reality out the table, like in a more fantastical setting like, say, Mario Kart.😄
So extreme G3 is supposed to be like F-Zero been on steroids

Apples and oranges kinda thing. It might be speedier but F-Zero nails the lore of the series.
