  • Here’s an unboxing video of the new Xtratuf wheelhouse deck boots that will not rip out. I will be reviewing these boots out in the field.
Here is the info on these boots
    Xtratuf Wheelhouse Boots- amzn.to/3n8E2LY
The commercial grade version of the Ankle Deck Boot fishermen have been asking for. Standing for 12+ hours a day on the sea can cause feet to swell, and the wider fit of this boot is built for that. The upper is reinforced in high wear areas such as the toe and heel for maximum durability. The boot features an EVA/PU blend insole for all-day comfort, and an oil resistant, SRC-rated outsole for the best traction available.
Since the boot is built slightly wider, we recommend half sizes order down a size.
100% Waterproof construction for comfort and performance
Commercial Grade providing a slightly wider fit
Dual-density extreme comfort insole with built in channels help keep feet cool, dry and comfortable
Reinforced Upper at Toe, Heel and Pull-On Tabs for maximum durability
SRC-Rated Outsole provides the best slip resistance available and is non-marking and oil-resistant

My XtraTuf wheelhouse boots ripped out! The sole spilt apart at the heel of the boot. I’m trying Grundens next my son now wears them as a deck hand and they hold up much better.

Xtratufs sizing is all over the place. I wear a size 12 in my everyday shoes. In the normal xtratufs I wear a size 11, and in the wheelhouse I wear a size 10. Great boots, but they need to figure that sizing shit out.

I would love you to see the pair of XT deck boots on my feet right now. Less than one year old. Sole is coming off. Micro cracking across the toes. Leaks between the sole and body. These are the 5 and final pair of XtraTufs I will buy. They will hold up to the occasional use, they will not hold up to daily wear.

The problem with the regular deck boots is that they were never designed to be used with spraying chemicals. Yes they could be better. I’ve switched over to the wheelhouses with zero issues.

I've had them and they still cracked at the toe flex after 1.5 months of use as a sport fishing guide. Still on the search for a better boot. All my extra ruffs (except 1 pair) have done the same. But these did it sooner.

try rubbing olive oil on them… personally, i give mine a rub everytime i wear em. idk if spacing that effects anything differently but ive never had any concerns about them cracking. im on my third pair (they’re turning into a favorite to put on just because so i have different colors) .. but olive oil has preventing the cracking for me

So 1.5 years in my regular 6 inch xtratuf are strating to let some water in around in the nose, are the wheelhouse much better and much sturdier? Are they worth the extra half cost? (Cus normal ones on sale I can get for $95, wheelhouse are $145) please let me know as this video was mad a year ago you should have some idea if they are much better or not 🙂 my usage is beach walking (includes sharp seashells), mud, hiking, rain walks, etc. Thank you!!! 🙂

Great video, thank you. Just got a screamin’ deal on a pair of the Wheelhouse model and am glad to hear they’re better made. Did you find the top opening part to be any wider or narrower than the regular deck boots? I’ve got pretty thick calves/ankles and often have a hard time finding boots that aren’t tight. I’m hoping with these the wider fit they advertise helps me out in this area as well.

    • @ExpertPowerWash
