    I am so so so happy for you about getting back your period and I am very proud of you for putting your effort into your recovery journey! I have missed natural period cycle for over 7 years, so this video made me stay hopeful about getting back my own. Thank you very much!

      Yes you most definitely can get your period back! It doesn't matter how long your period has been gone, if you give your body the right things--lots of food and rest--It will start cycling again :-)

      oh, I just wanted to tell you with no offence but the phrase you say " I am a woman" in the context of getting period back might be very triggering to some people in recovery from HA or experience early menopause or menopause in general. I remember I was deeply heard from hearing the message like "no period=not fully a woman" before. Women are women no matter what. I know you did not say the words in the video with no intention to hurt people but you jut did because you were really happy about getting your period back!! (i am happy for you!!) but at least I just wanted you to know this thing!

      @@hikakorc143 I 100% understand what you're saying. I should have been more careful with my words. Of course I think that all women no matter if they menstruate or not or if they have children or not, they are all wonderful human beings and this does not dictate how much of a woman they are, if they so choose to identify with that gender. I will definitely be more mindful next time I speak. Getting my period back did really connect me to that side of me that had been non-existent for years... But that is just my experience 😉

    I just came across your channel and I am in awe over how inspiring you are. I have been in recovery for the past 4 years and recently fell back into a relapse and lost my period after having had it for 6 months. Your message was exactly what I needed to hear because I have been feeling such pressure to exercise and do cardio recently. Thank you for reminding me of the bigger picture as to why I need to eat more and give my body rest to get my period back again! I appreciate you and am so proud of how far you have come in your journey! :)

    I literally bawled during this whole video. I’m so truly happy for you! It’s been 16 years for me and I’m still trying to figure out the root cause. For me it definitely wasn’t not eating enough or exercising since I’ve been overweight most of my life. What I did gain from this video is that I should probably eat more fat. Thank you for sharing your story and I pray that I can get mine back after all these years...

      Period issues are so complex and sometimes hard to understand when you don't know what to look for. Not having a period though is your bodies sign that something is imbalanced whether that be blood sugar, micronutrients, macronutrients, sleep, or stress. Taking a look at all of these things can be how you find the root to the amenorrhea. And yes, eating fats are super important and the right kind too. Saturated fat is going to be super helpful so think butter, ghee, coconut oil, duck fat, and lard.

      You don't even know how much this comment made my day💕I am so glad that this video is inspiring you to continue on the path of vibrant wellbeing and recovery as that is always my intent with these videos! I want to give you some personal words of encouragement that all the hard/scary things you do now will be 100% worth it in the end. Once you get your period back, start eating with friends and family, and experiencing life in a more free way you will see what I mean. No one regrets recovery and you won't either. Continue to push through those fears and take back your life step by step, meal by meal. The more you loosen up with food and let go of the dietary labels the closer you will be to achieving a state of mental, physical, spiritual, and soulful health. I'm sending lots of love your way. Let me know if you want to hop on a call to map out a clear road map for your recovery, I'd be honored to help :)

Make getting your period back your top priority, it's so so so so so important for your health and the more you go without a period the more damage you will do to your body. Especially if you are someone who likes to be athletic and fit and wants to build strong bones and be athletic for years and years to come its so important to have your hormones in check.

      @@abcd1539 your not bothering me! The first 2 days were light and then the last 3 were a good medium flow. My second period was way more on the medium/heavy flow. It is normal to be lighter as you first get your period back as your linning is most likely alot thinner from the amenorrhea. Overtime your linning should start building up and you'll get a heavier flow :) Your on the right path, moving in the right direction! Ohn I know it seems so scary but I promise you that the more and more you recover the more and more it seems less scary. It's sort of like you're waiting in line to go on a large twisty roller coaster. You are shaking from nerves and questioning whether you should instead head for the exit. What happens though... you stay in line, get on the roller coaster and by the end of it you're laughing at how fun it was and happy you did it. Same in recovery. It seems super daunting now but then you do it and think, "Wow, I didn't die. I'm glad I went through that journey!" Was my first time trying bacon in years and I feel like I have some weird bacterial growth now 😢

    I found your channel about a week ago and basically spent the past days binge watching your videos. They are so super helpful! Thank you so much for creating this amazing content and sharing your advice. Still, I can't really get myself to jump all in. I'm in quasi recovery from an ed since 2016, still doing exercise, still counting calories, but at a healthy weight, and I definitely wasn't underfueling. I ate about 2800 calories a day, which I now upped to 3200 while still exercising. Do you think this is enough? Or even too much?
    Sorry for posting this long question, I totally get if you don't have the time to answer... Maybe there is someone else out there who could give me some advice...

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 4 lety

      Hi! I am so glad you are here and this is a very good question! Quasi recovery is a hard place to be because you're at this point where you don't feel "sick enough" to continue on the recovery journey. It's easy to talk your self out of doing the hard stuff when you reach this "okay" place. The problem is though that despite the fact that you have gained some weight, not all that much has changed besides the fact that you might not look as sick. Sounds like your body is still in an energy deficiency wherein your bones, organs, and hormones are suffering so full recovery should still be a goal. I promise you though that there is so much freedom, beauty, and health to be achieved once FULL recovery is attained. Keep on going with your journey, you may feel better now but you will feel so much better once you no longer need to do certain ed behaviors or worry all the time if you are "recovered enough". In an answer to your question, exercise is stress on the body and can block your hypothalamus from producing the right hormones DESPITE an increase of calories. Now, I am so proud of you for increasing the calories and it's a great step, but the exercise must be addressed. Keeping your body in the parasympathetic nervous system state is key and resting lots and keeping exercise minimal is essential. Also, sounds like your still tracking food... this can be useful in the beginning but with my clients I help them find food freedom where their life is no longer ruled by calories, fat grams, and macros. Recovery is all about letting go of food fixation, obsession and tracking so as much as you can try to eat liberal amounts and don't worry about having to obtain a specific number. Recovery requires and abundance of food... I would tell myself in recovery that if I was questioning whether I ate enough that day I would simply just eat more. There is NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH FOOD IN RECOVERY. Sorry this message is all over the place but I hope it helps. If you are wanting support in this and to know what the next best step is for you to finally get your period back and feel normal around food then send me an email at contact.flowwithchlo@gmail.com and let's set up a time to go through all these questions you have.

      In dr. Nicola rinaldi's work, where she studied hundreds of women with amenorrhea, of those who followed the protocol of going "all in", 98% of them got their period back. Your body is designed to have a cycle, and it will come back if you take the right steps! I gained a lot as that was what was necessary for my body. The goal BMI to be in the fertile zone is 22 with a body fat percentage around 21% (minimum). I got to those levels and it came back! The main idea is to get your body out of energy deficit, so take a look at what needs to change so that your body feels safe, nourished, and balanced again. It will happen! Send me an email if you want to chat more and learn what can help you get yours back!

I’m cutting intense workouts now only occasionally some yoga and badminton with my brother and increasing my food intake, do you think I’m on the right path of gaining it back? Hi Chlo, I’m a teen and I’m currently trying to recover from amenorrhea. I really would like to recover healthily and properly, but I have a few questions that I would like to ask you. It would be so sweet if you could spend some time to answer some of my questions. My first concern is, am I able to exercise at least once or twice a week when recovering? Such as swimming or ballet? I’m also wondering if going “all in” would lead to a continuous “all in” eating pattern in the future, as I don’t really want it to become a habit. My last question is, would my weight and eating patterns eventually settle down after I get my period back? Like, would I still have to go “all in” and continuously gain weight for me to get my cycle every month, or can I just eat till the average daily intake of 2000kcal and still get my monthly cycle? I also take part in quite a few sports in and outside of school, so do you think I will be able to maintain my monthly cycle, if take part in my sports along with increasing my caloric intake? Thanks!

      On another note part of recovery is letting go of all food rules and allowing yourself to listen to your body and find a way of eating that works best for you. Trying to recovery while staying away from certain foods and keeping a strict diet is kinds the opposite of what full recovery entails. Hope thats helpful :) If you have any more questions please send me an email contact.flowwithchlo@gmail.com

    Should I go all in? I’ve never reached a low weight, I restricted a lot but now I think I’m free of guilt, and I’m eating more. My relationship with exercise is better, I used to do hours and now I do 30 minutes. So my question is if I should do it. I’m conscious that I’m better, but should I try to go all in? I’m only 1 kg to reach my “healthy weight”.

    Hi Chlo! I was wondering if you were eating high fibre foods such as legumes or veggies during recovery or not. Because I really cut down the veggies (I went from 3 generous portions to a small 1) and legumes (barely eat them anymore) I used to eat as I read too much fibre is not good in recovery but I really miss them.

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 4 lety +1

      I cut back on my consumption of fiber and legumes a lot during this time to allow more space for the nutrient dense food I needed to be eating. You don't have to forever stop eating these things, just don't make your whole plate a plate of veggies. Have say a nice piece of salmon with a butter sauce and some rice with asparagus on the side and a small salad.

      Hi, I know it is so frustrating to have to stop exercising to heal your body but this is only TEMPORARY and once you are healthy again exercise can return to your life! I'll give you some insight from working with many older clients, in their 40's and 50's, who have been struggling with their eating disorder from a young age and continued down the path of not healing their body and allowing it that time to rest and get their period back. They are super sad that they now HAVE to not only stop exercising but stop walking because they are in so much pain and have severe osteoporosis and/or neuropathy which has put a complete stop on their active lifestyles. If you are serious about loving exercising and want to do it for a longtime then taking this quick break to reset your hormones and restore your body is KEY.
      It's a small sacrifice for HUGE gains.
      If letting go of exercise seems scary and impossible then I recommend emailing me to discuss recovery coaching where we can work on this together :) contact.flowwithchlo@gmail.com

    Why didnt your gynaecologist prescribe you HRT or birth control ?

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 2 lety +1

      Because I wouldn't take those things. Birth control does not give you back your period and can just mess up your hormones even more and HRT doesn't fix the root cause or come with no side effects.

      Congrats on getting your period! That is HUGE. I personally believe that you can get your cycle back on track by continuing to go through recovery- resting your body, managing stress, increasing sleep, and eating well. How irregular is irregular? Longer than 50 days??

    do you think that i have to stop exercise allover or i could slowly decrease the intensity?

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 3 lety

      I personally believe that it is SUPER helpful not just physically but mentally to completely let go of exercise for a time. Re-wiring this *need* to exercise is the key to true freedom. You can go back to exercising with a healthier mindset after taking a complete break.
      Now on the physical side, I have seen many women not be able to get their period back even with a reduced amount of training. Anything that spikes cortisol will make it difficult to get the body to balance out. Now not everyone will need this to get their period back as I have seen some people just reduce and then their hormones are able to balance out but even in those situations I think the body could have greatly benefited from a time of complete rest so that it can really work on restoring various parts and systems of the body.

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 4 lety

      Hi, I know it is scary when your period doesn't come on time but it sounds like you are aware of why your period has not come back which means you also know how to get it back. Scale back on your exercise or completely let it go for a bit until your cycle returns. You most defiantly can get your period back if you get out of energy debt and into energy balance. This is of course unless there is not an underlying issue like PCOS or some anatomical abnormality that is causing your periods to be irregular. I advice you to talk to an OBGYN to check if everything is okay. If it all looks normal then eating more and exercising less shall do the trick :)

    • @flowwithchlo
      @flowwithchlo  Před 4 lety

      It's hard when we are athletes or dancers and movement is apart of our lives. My biggest piece of advice I would give you is to be really consistent with your food and to be eating in abundance to help offset the dancing. Your body looses its period due to energy debt so that way to get it back is to bring the body into energy balance. Its often a combo of little food + too much exercise that creates the energy debt so you can begin by starting to eat more to help you pull out of it. There may be a time where you need to completely let go of dancing for both physical and mental reasons but I can't say whats best for you in your situation without knowing more. Hope this helps!

    i used to have regular period since then.before lockdown,around march i weighed 52kgs and my height by the way is 5'1.i started to trim down my caloric intake to 800-900cal/day and had intense workout for 5-6x a week and weighed down to 46.2 kgs at june.i had an abrupt weight loss, almost 6kls in just a span of 3 months and a plateau until august.starting may till now (september-4consecutive months)i missed my period.(for the very first time) it feels very unusual and bothered me a lot.upon seeing your videos, (kinda wake up call for me) i started to eat more,increasing carbs as well as fat.it gives me lots of hope knowing some people didnt had their period for years and still managed to come back.i hope its an advantage for me that i've learned about this HA early so it wouldnt get worse and be treated early.me having lots of hope🙏trying to take some suggestions/advices to people who overcome this HA.thank you!☺️

      Good luck with your recovery journey! I highly recommend taking it seriously, as you are, and not waiting too long. I hope you are now eating lots of good food and feeding your body the correct amount each day! 800 cal is not supportive for optimal health, especially hormonal health. So make sure you are taking care of yourself by resting and eating nourishing foods each day to bring your body back to a place of energy balance. Im glad my videos have been helping you!
