all bullshit for the camera! i was in columbia last year believe me it doesnt look this good i promise you.
They currently use 2 types of uniforms, the new blue ones and the current green ones in their urban version (patches in gold thread, boot inside the pants) and rural (black thread, boot over the pants, Vietnam style)

As bad as some neighbourhoods in cities in the UK are, Im glad that we dont have to deal with the same level of crime, poverty and gun violence in places like Bogota, Cali or Medellin in Colombia. They deal with levels of gun violence that the UK has never thankfully had and I hope we never do. Medellin in the 1990s was a war zone, and parts of it still are although I believe that Cali is the most violent city in Colombia theese days.
As a man from Bogota and a big Guy fan, I hope this series won't be just him hanging out with the police all the time.

Bit lost why he was sent there. So many other engineering places could of visited.
Becuase he can do more than engineering shows. The whole premise of the 'Our Guy in...' series is about him visiting and experiencing different countries and have nothing to do with engineering.
Although you can tell Guy had fun throughout his journey around Colombia, his thirst for adrenaline and danger is very misleading. On one hand he is zooming on aspects that he finds fascinating like drugs. Sadly drugs process, drug chases and drug land is the main focus of this program. This is hardly a balanced picture of what the country is now a days. On the other his approach to the culture is general and vage, although I'm sure for many is entertaining. Shallow, misleading and incomplete.

I know brits are recognized for being tremendously ignorant about something besides the UK, but at least investigate a little bit what you're writing or saying. Bogotá and that neighborhood is not even close the most dangerous place or city in Colombia, the only thing you have to use is Google, mate.
