- The NEW Tacoma TRD Pro has been Toyota's midsize off road competitor for years going up against the Chevy Colorado ZR2, Ford Ranger Tremor, Nissan Frontier Pro-4X and GMC Canyon AT4. On the outside you will notice the new TRD Pro color called Electric Lime, BBS wheels, upgraded suspension bits and TRD exhaust. On the inside there is an 8in infotainment screen, TRD specific shifter, steering wheel and seats. Under the hood is the bullet proof 3.5L V6 that pumps out 270HP & is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro a BETTER truck than a Chevy Colorado ZR2?

Sure the camera quality on the screen could be better if you really wanted it to but I absolutely love the perfect balance between analog and digital here in this set up.
Iâm a Toyota guy since I was a kid , BUT I went in with an open mind to purchase a new midsize truck this year and test drove ALL the midsize trucks and walked away with a 2021 Tacoma TRD ORDC 4x4 with LED head lights and fog lamps top of the line premium & tech pkg , in a automatic and I canât say enough about the quality , fit and finish to this truck it is just well built , I take my hat off to the Toyota engineers they did a remarkable job on this Tacoma , now with 12,000 miles on the ODO I love it even more than the day I bought it brand new . The electric lime green looks so good in the sun and really pops. This and lunar rock are awesome colors. Yes the interior is dated but what youâre paying for is the off road on throttle action. Iâm curious to see where Toyota takes the Tacoma with a redesign

I sold my 2004 trd off-road Tacoma, and still wish I hadn't! Best truck I ever owned up until I bought my 2016 F150 which is at least equal. Tacoma over Colorado...

I actually really like drum brakes in the rear. My 2012 TRD Sport tacoma has drum brakes. Had it since it was brand new and I have over 200K miles and still on the original drums. I think they just last alot longer.

Vehicles used to have points, but they've evolved. Drum brakes on a 2022 truck that's $50,000 is a joke.
Upcoming future electric cars will probably be switching back to rear drum brakes too, they are plenty reliable.
Thatâs because they donât do anything. Thatâs why they last forever. 2015 owner here. Warped every set of front rotors I had over 100k miles from normal usage.
I wish theyâd go disc brake for front and rear especially at $50k
Although itâs going to need a big update soon itâs still the greatest small truck I can think of!

Good Morning Joe, I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD PRO other than the cool electric lime green everything is the same. Toyota still has not added back the driver grab bar, have added one to mine. Also added led lights in the bed, so for me no sense in until the redesign comes out. Thanks for all your videos and a shout out to the video Queen awesome job. Keep the videos coming.
I believe new for 2022 are the aluminum upper control arms adding more caster and this suspension sits an extra half inch higher than 2021 and older TRD Proâs.
I ordered the 22â trd pro in white, manual. No idea when itâs gonna come in, but Iâm definitely excited

Well, not even having two tin cans with a string would be a definite deal-killer for me, Joe! Just kidding. I continue to be impressed with the evolution of the Tacoma TRD in recent years and, overall, this one would not disappoint me. If I had a passenger sitting in the back, I'd advise them to get over it as far as connectivity is concerned. Very nice review.

one of the best looking mid size trucks
has one of the largest markets for modifications
insanely reliable and cheap to maintain
And for the 2022 series its finally catching up technology wise, (larger infotainment, 360 camera, etc.)

I love that color. Mine is just plain a silver. Joe there is no fake hood scoops if you have some power tools.
There was also the "S" Joe on the gear shifter to manually open the valves for acceleration just so you know. The tundra has it too.
This guy and his wife are the coolest, and I trust no one else's review, with only the exception on Doug Demuro. Otherwise, Joe is my #1 go to! Thanks Mr. Raiti!

Ford, Plymouth and Dodge had some pretty wild colors back in those days. One of the girls I went to High School with had one of those Playboy Pink 1967 Mustangs.

The rear drums are reliable and in the back with mud, rocks, branches, etc... they make sense. Sometimes older tech is better. In this case for anything that goes off-road the drums are simpler and proven. Being enclosed makes sense.

I've gone back and forth on Taco vs ZR2. Both are solid, but the nod goes to Toyota primarily due to long-term reliability.
I've had GM trucks and enjoyed them, but constantly repairing/replacing parts especially north of 100k miles real.

I bought the sr package. I didnât want much technology, and it was perfect. Has the touchscreen, apple car play, but not much else. Plus all the goodness of a Tacoma anyway, I have never loved an automobile more
