- Hundreds of four-year visa workers come to Australia each year, hoping to change their lives and earn money to send to families back home.
Many leave professions to perform physically arduous work at an abattoir.
This year a small group of East Timorese meat workers delighted audiences at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, all thanks to a Warrnambool singer-songwriter Billy Barker.
Craving intercultural friendship and exchange, Billy posted a flyer offering musical exchange in the abattoir crib room.

What a great idea by David. To get these migrant workers involved in the community and showcasing their music, dance, and talent is fabulous for Australia and the East Timorese.
This is so impressive. From the first idea to meeting the Timorese to the culmination at the festival. You should all be so happy and proud of yourselves. ❤
