  • Marine pilots are used to operating bulk carriers as big as the Eiffel Tower lying on its side, bringing in $71 billion worth of trade through Newcastle Harbour each year. But it's on a man-made lake in the Hunter region where pilots can really test their skills. The Port Ash training facility is the only place in the Southern Hemisphere where pilots can practice their skills on a scaled-down model of a bustling harbour.

Unreal! I am always amazed at what tugboats and ship pilots can do.

It's nice, if the front area looks covered to have a section if open to store fishes, I imagine Kallang river, boat quay and Clarke quay this way, if imagine river at Sembawang too(senoko) if can keep carrying fish to storage like nice. It's a single seat tugboat? It looks high level actually deep storage capability?

I waited and waited . . No mention whether or not the simulator does any good. I doubt it.

They mentioned that other ports can be simulated and that engine failures and other problems can even be simulated. So, yeah, it probably does help.

Any salt water crocs ever decide to set-up an abode at your training centre?
If yes, then those rather small models look at being nil for survivability...

Any Australian can tell that you are not from Australia - why, all Australians knows that there aren't any crocs in NSW or anywhere near NSW.
