  • Tony Jeffries shares how to throw a 1 - 2 / jab - cross which is the most basic boxing combination for beginners. This is probably the first boxing combo a beginner in boxing should learn. You should learn the common mistakes first that newbies make with this combination before we can teach you how to throw 1 - 2 properly.

When you mentioned the bonus tip"to add 15 to 25 percent power" I also like how that same technique sets up the lead hook nicely, the back foot coming slightly forward puts you in good position and range for the lead hook. I was originally taught to throw the 1-2 exactly like you displayed in the video before the last tip. When I did that one day my coach asked me to follow up with the lead hook, then he told me to step forward with the 1-2 to get in range for the hook, and to bring my back foot up slightly I noticed my lead hook felt really comfortable after throwing the 1-2. What I didn't know and now learned was that stepping forward with the 1-2 adds significant power to the 1-2 as you just taught. I always tryed to time my opponent coming forward so I could catch him like a head on collision, and I Know how much power that adds to the punch. But I didn't think about that the other way around (me stepping in with the punches) to add power, as you just showed at the end. I even got something out of this video Even though I learned to throw a 1-2 properly 15 years ago. So tony thank you for that I really appreciate you taking the time to teach us and all you do for us ,for free. Thank you and God bless you and yours
