    100% agree... As nitrous adds more power the lower it's activated, I still spray out of the hole in my 12 mustang, but have since added forge pistons and better rods. Here's some goofy info on a Dyno using a 75 shot, I made 80whp/110ftlbs of torque spraying out of the whole (2200-2500rpm) using it at 3500-4000rpm only made 76whp/95ftlbs. This is with a dry setup using injectors to add fuel.

    Follow the manufacturers instructions is so so correct!!! I installed my 175hp plate kit on a brand new Gm gen1 sbc . It's the bottom of the line cast crank cast pistons...cast everything!!! I take out 6 degrees of timing on an already conservative base timing using a NOS launcher controller. I hit it with the full 175hp shot at 3000rpm and have a O2 sensor monitoring A/F ratio. I've gone through 30 plus 15lb bottles on the street with no problems!!!! So my nitrous hits are never more than about 7seconds!!! But it is a blast....especially with 275 M/T streets!! Those tires almost hold the power..... almost!!!!

    Ok. First off, love the video. This video has made me decide to use nitrous instead of a long and painful job of turbo install. Second off, I have a 1983 town car. It has an eec3 fuel control set up and uses throttle body injection. Now I would like to use a controller and a wet system. Is that possible with the eec3 fuel control or is it a pipe dream. I only wanna run a 50 shot to awaken the heavy beast.if it is, can you give me an idea of which way to go with it. Thanks.

I don't nead more but that smal increas will gibe me 3-5 seconds faszer time exsiting 8 sicanes on the racing track and exselerating from slow apexs.

      50-75 shot easy.. Get a progressive controller so you can inject as soon as possible for best results. 1st gear is best, 2nd is good compromise, 3rd is WAY TOO late for maximum effect.

      +Ian Robinson 600 to 700 easy. but you might as well build it up anyway and use ARP head stud bolts. for instance if your boosted. the head can often lift up once on boost if its a high amount of boost. or too much nitrous can split the seals on the manifold or cause injector spray pattern issues

    First of all the nitrous purge does NOT purge air, it purges the line incase of liquid nitrous in the line, which would find its way into the engine and cause a large backfire or even worse, Second alot of nitrous kits are used below 3k rpm PURELY for turbo spool.

    • @fightfanian
      @fightfanian Před 9 lety

      50 shot, I spray while on the trans-brake because my car is my daily driver with a "2500 rpm" converter so it's still livable and my 76mm can't really spool that early.

    • @patw52pb1
      @patw52pb1 Před 9 lety +6

      asambi69 A nitrous purge is to rid the system of air after a bottle change or if the system lines have been disconnected or opened to the atmosphere.
      Also the purge is to rid the system of vapor/gas and ensure that there is only liquid nitrous in the lines.
      Nitrous oxide in the bottle is a liquid and will remain a liquid under the correct temperature and pressure.
      If the nitrous temp rises above a certain level or the pressure drops below a certain level the liquid nitrous boils and becomes a vapor or gas.
      A nitrous system relies on liquid nitrous until it is atomized by the delivery spray nozzles. Air or vapor/gas in a nitrous system is why you see and hear many engines pop and backfire during a run and is potentially damaging.
      Generally, triggering a 75+ HP nitrous system below 3000 RPM is not a good idea, it loads the bottom end too much and tends to cause piston/ring/head/gasket damage at a minimum and and repeated low RPM triggering will usually result in severely worn/spun bearings at a minimum and complete rotating assembly/block failure at worst.
      Using nitrous for turbo spooling such as while staging is usually accomplished with a multi-staged separate low HP nitrous control system that is tailored for the application.
      What Jay has described is a system that is usable by the average enthusiast on their stock internals daily driver repeatedly and is unlikely to damage a healthy engine.
      If anyone is intend to install a balls out nitrous system, I strongly urge contacting a reputable nitrous system manufacturer and consult with their technical/engineering department to save a lot of time, grief and money.

      patw52pb1 So what if i were to run let's say a 5-35 shot of dry (or wet) nitrous on my Jeep's V6 below 3000 rpm's? Do you think that would cause engine damage?

    • @TheValleyofAwesome
      @TheValleyofAwesome Před 6 lety +1

      asambi69 So would it be ok to use a very low amount of a dry shot of nos below 3000 rpm's? (Without a turbo). I'm talking about a 5 to 35 shot of Nos. I basically need to use Nos for an off road application on my Jeep and I REALLY need more improved low-end to push up some pretty steep inclined hills. Here in the Colorado Mountains where I 4wheel, elevation is so high and oxygen is lacking and therefore, it's all cutting off my Jeep's engine power and torque. Would a very small shot of nitrous (dry or wet at maybe 5 to a 35 shot) be harmless for low rpm's? I'm basically imagining that the small bit of nitrous will compensate for the loss of oxygen up here in the mountains without much harm. If you could help answer that that'd be sweet :) Cheers mate!
