I started watching Isaiah, CJ, and Steve's videos 7~8 years ago and I didn't really think that it would ever be possible for me to dunk at that time. I was 24 and I thought that I was too old to start working on my vert. Also, I had no belief at all that I could actually increase my vert. One day, I thought to myself, "why not?" and I started working on my vert from that day and I went from barely touching rims to hitting my head on backboard.( I am 5' 10" ) Now I am 32 and I barely work out since I've got a lot else to do; however, even though I can't jump as high as I could 4~5 years ago, I can still dunk. Thank you Isaiah for always motivating me whether you intended or not lol. I'd never be able to dunk in my life without you!
That’s so cool man!! Glad we could be an inspiration
could you please tell me what your starting vert was and how much vert you’ve gained in x timeframe? I’m seeing so many different information online making me drive crazy. i just wanna be able to dunk
@@wayhuncho6599 not sure exactly what my starting vert was but it was probably a little below 30". After starting to train my vert, I gained a little above 10" in a year, and then 4"~5" next two years. You've probably seen so many different information since everyone's so much different. I started working on my vert with my roommate and we did exactly the same training and had the same food but his vert didn't increase dramatically and he gained around 6" in total.
everyone is different just train hard and you'll get results.

Not og out jumping most of us
Love the videos bro! Keep it up! ✌️
As a one foot jumper I’ve heard that getting stronger can be detrimental especially in earlier stages due to the focus of the jumps possibly being less focused on the tendons. A big example of this is the fact that Olympic high jumpers who most likely have in the realm of 50 inch verts are all very skinny. What are your thoughts on getting stronger possibly being bad for one foot jumping specifically?
I’d like an answer to this too!
Look up a slo mo video of Stefan Holm jumping. His legs are yoked in his soleus and gastroc. It’s all about gaining sport specific muscle mass
It is true that those Olympic athletes tend to focus more on plyometrics and jumping than on lifting weights but they still do tons of weight training compared to non-athletes. Getting stronger definitely makes you jump higher only if you maintain some level of body shape and speed especially for one foot jumping.
Trying to improve with JUST plyos leads to injury almost every time, especially for older athletes. Play the long game ;)
damn, i really appreciate you guys dropping such valuable knowledge on the regular.
one of the best videos y'all have put out, keep up the great content lately!
Isaiah been dropping gems for years and we watched his progress. Crazy 💯💯
i love these guys! Can't wait for the next video about periodization!!!
Great vid man, really practical tips!
Mad early but that's how we getting ahead. Vertical gains only going up ⏫
Thank you!
Waiting for a video about periodization.
Nice video man, you should do another video on more specific trick shot dunks.
For example, you can go more in depth for the 360s dunks, such as the 360 kamikaze (the best one), the 360 eastbay, 360 off the backboard, and the 360 under both.
Stay on the grind man, never give up.
this new content is crazy. y’all increased the quality sooo much it doesn’t even make sense
Thanks man!
Great video once again bro, v helpful/insightful. I'd like to see you do a full weighted jump session!! I feel like I'm gaining vertical all the time whilst doing sets of 6x weighted then 6x non weighted. I do 4 sets or more depending on whether I've had a heavy kicking session. I use your videos to improve my flying knees 🔥
awesome video like always keep doing what you're doing man. could you give me 3 good exercises for 1 leg bounce
Absolutely love it
great free content as usual. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Some good stuff
Great video, watched every second! Could you help me with my 1 leg bounce, like some exercises I could do to improve it.
I’ve always focused on my lifting technique just as much as my jumping!
Can you please give a super straight forward video about iso? Cause I always hear everyone say do your isos but nobody ever actually explains how to know what to do. Thanks so much!
The best,thank u!
You're welcome!
Isiah please make a video analyzing the jump technique and Aproach of nba players, and of dunk contest 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙌🏿
Periodization video is gonna be crazy😳

What tips do you have to strengthen and bulletproof the Achilles? I’m basically fully recovered from Achilles tendonapathy after doing strengthening exercises for a couple months, but fear injuring it again. How can I get back to playing safely?
I’ve heard many people including you recommending that athletes should not only lift heavy but also lighter with a focus on speed. There is an argument going around that I first heard from Daniel Back that says lifting weights will always be way slower than running or jumping and that it is a strength stimulus so going lighter will just simply cause a less optimal strength stimulus even if you are moving the weight faster. Thoughts?
Hey man I have a question. If i workout 3 times a week for my vertical jump and do 1 pure maximal force strength exercise per session apart from "plyometrics" and "rate of force development" exercises, I usually choose the deep squat because I feel like is strengthening my lower body better then any other pure strenght exercises, but I'm not sure if I should switch the exercises every session for like a heavy split squat or deadlift which don't feel like is working as good as the deep squat, what should I do?
Do you ever do any max height box jumps? I don't think I've seen any vids of you doing that...I'd be interested to see that one. Maybe weighted (vest)?! I'm not sure weighted on the descent would be so good though. i with my 24 had one of those hip thruster machines
Can i do heavy wheights through knee pain? Or generally max. strenght training, and when isometric exercises are too much?
The almighty overlord always popping out
Ngl my vertical are increasing 😊 I'm 6 foot 4 I was suck at volleyball but they don't know what's coming im about to go Brazy 🔥💯
Imma need that periodization video ASAP I can’t afford thp schedule wise rn hoping to hop on at some point tho
We will be filming that video this week, it’ll probably be up in 1-2 weeks
Awesome video! Can you please touch a bit on the subject of Osgood Schlatter in growing adolescents? You would really help a lot of young athletes and most important clarify the information. 🙏
Dynamic stretching, isos
its easy : just get stronger in the weighroom, and have dunk sessions. you could also buy a vertical jump program, you dont really need thp strentgh while being a teen ESPECIALLY because its expensive. I would recommend you to buy something a bit cheaper.

When I do hang cleans I lower the weight to below my knee and stop for a split second before I pull, I saw on instagram Isaiah hang cleaning 300 pounds and when doing so he quickly went down stopping above the knee and without a pause he jerked the weight up to his shoulders. Is my technique wrong/am I doing more of a power clean than a hang clean?
hello i have a question
What are the important of core When jumping?
Hey Isaiah, I havent' watched all your videos, but i remember a few years ago you just made 40" or was low 40". My question is could you combine all your notes to speed the process up, maybe a yearly plan with a few gaps for recovery? I don't know if you already did that video, but that could be useful for your students. Some of the things you did obviously worked better than others and some other things used alot of time for very little gain.
If someone has shitty jump form
Is this where you start to correct before anything ? Or moving on to anything further?
Is it bad if I get a big upper body? Like if I have a huge upper body will that effect my vertical jump? Do I have to stay lean?
Yesirrrr
if I'm 132 pounds, have a pr of 100 pounds in squatting, am 6 foot 1, have a 7,10 standing reach, am 14 years old and have a 28-inch vert can I dunk in a few months if I jump every day
What about stretching and flexibility
hey ive searcehd everywhere and I havent been able to find a cost for THP
This might be a dumb question but does increasing vertical to dunk levels help you with getting off your shot in a game, too? I know it's different leg mechanics being leveraged when casually jumping when shooting vs. all-out jumping for a dunk but wondering if it does passively add 1-2 inches to your jump shot and make you that much harder to guard as well? Could be interesting.
It 100% does from personal experience
Hey Isaiah!
Got a question
If I train but I don’t get pain the next day, will I improve or I HAVE to get pain everytime (next day )to improve?
you don´t have to get sore everyday it´s just means your body isn´t used to this kind of training. So, no you don´t and shouldn´t get this pain everyday
@@EmreGold2812 ye but I make it harder almost every week and changé exercices thats why
I think it can work because im young and just started but Ye if I do the same for like 2 weeks I dont get sore
Bow wow got that dawg in me
bow wow got that dog in him
Any tips for back pain? specifically in the lower back?
There’s a lecture video about back pain recently uploaded here! Also a video about exercises to help with back pain. Scroll through Isaiah’s vids from the last month!

Early this time! 📝
Can I start vertical jump training now ? I'm progressing into my late twenties.😢 Will it be possible for me to get significant gains ?
can u show us some ideal isos for knee pain especially for pattela?
He is not a doctor or PT
With the 9 to 15 isometrics per day, how long should each isometric take and at what intensity? Thank you
If you watch some of their other vids I see Isaiah doing like 30-45 second sets
45 seconds at 70%
I would low effort until I get a sweat is that bad ?
I see you guys barely do plyos in lifting sessions, do you just replace plyos with weekly/daily jump sessions?
Depends on the cycle we’re doing! Some cycles have a ton of plyos
I'm 16 and can barely touch the ring😢
what can I do to get better?
When you say get strong in the gym, is that everywhere on your body not just legs?
In Sport specific movements
PHILIPPINES ON TOP RAHHHHH
i have flat feet and bow legs
does that affect my vertical?
Even if it did, nothing you can do to change it ;). Focus on what you can change!
@@JohnEvans yeah bro you right!
How can I fix pain above knee cap this pain was with me probably 5 months
Check out the how to fix your knee pain video in isaiah's library
@@JohnEvans I am having a problem with the "schedule a meeting" part on the THP website. It keeps sending me to the typeform website and I don't see any where I can schedule. What should I do?
Hyrum indeed has that dog in him 😂🐶
BOW WOW
isaiah how many ppl that u know have a legitimate verified 50+ inch vert like you? Ive tried looking it up but i always get the same result about michael jordan and wilt etc
MJ and Wilt did not have close to a 50. In recent recordings Kingdac touched a 50.5 at dunk camp
@@ChrisJdunks oh believe me i know, especially with wilt. Id definitely buy mj being in the 40-46 range but in no way do i believe that wilt had a 50 inch vert. MJ didnt either but he was definitely a higher flyer
@@ChrisJdunks o wait its u cj whats up big fan
I believe it’s just me and Dac. Also Jamal Harris but his reach measurement was very questionable

bruh tip 9 was the only new thing for me and then you dont explain it
So you want their program for nothing?
Typically when periodizing you would have a 3-5 week plan (assuming your training for jumping/sprinting) during which you would slowly increase your volume or intensity slowly gaining fatigue and ability then you deload to wash out the fatigue and be left with your new ability and rinse and repeat.
Tip 9 is huge. Basically would be a summary of my entire 4 years of college 😂 (kinesiology major)
But hey I think they plan on recording a video about it soon. Hang tight
We’re making an entire video on periodization soon
Calling out dom 😂
