If I was that reporter and Trump tried to redirect my question like that I would've said,
"Mr. President, I do have an opinion but that's irrelevant. I'm a journalist, which means I'm here to listen to what my country's leadership has to say, not spread my own agenda. Despite your claims of the press being enemies of the public the reality is that the press is simply the mechanism of transparency by which YOU are answerable to the public. That means I ask the questions and you answer them. Now let's try this again."

Absolutely, and it's a very successful tactic for him. All it takes is for the credulous not to view the rebuttal, or to hear his false claim first, and he has the upper hand, and everybody feels that they have to go on the back foot trying to refute his claims rather than assert their own points or policies. It is far, far harder to change somebody's impressions of reality, however provably false, than it is to instil an idea in an undecided mind. I suggest the best strategy would be to refuse to respond to his wild claims and leave him without a sparing partner, while using all available means to promote completely different topics and positive ideas without reference to the President - to the point of abandoning his press briefings and immediately changing to a different topic if the President or something he has tweeted is mentioned.

Ohhhhhhh no no no no! That's badddd idea. Even if we win the next presidency it's only a matter of time before the pubs get it again and declare a state of emergency on... like... the existence of brown people or some shit. Let's try to maintain at least a SEMBLANCE of democracy even if it's broken as fuck
(to add to this, we should also probably work on fixing our broke ass democracy while we're at it. Abolish the electoral college, end gerrymandering, dismantle capitalism etc.)
((don't freak out guys. When I say capitalism I don't mean your freedom to buy things, I mean the hierarchical system which consolidates power for a few individuals at the top and puts profit above human well-being. You'll still be able to buy double cheeseburgers after the revolution, the difference is you''ll also be able to afford the insulin to keep you alive afterwards))

Sometimes I'm curious, why people can laught about this. I mean Stephen is not even writing something aditional anymore he just waits for the next thing just to happen and reacts on that.
I'm German and I'm a little worried about what is happening at this time in the world especially, when I see high positions like the President of the United States straight up lying his butt of and still get support.
And yes I'm also worried about my own Goverment. It's just sad and scary that people just believe others who shout the loudest instead of getting the information themselves and question the one who shouts.
If you look closely, my ancestors made the same mistake about nearly a hundred years ago, why does the world not want to learn from things like that?

We have to laugh to keep ourselves sane. The one thing tyrants can't stand is being laughed at.
Besides, good people like Mueller are working behind the scenes to maintain the rule of law. America does not have the long history of kings and emperors that Europe has, and was founded in defiance of such powers; that independent strain will, we hope and pray, be its saving grace.

Another problem with the world is that too many people are being too aggressive, and many people are being illogical or not really using their sane senses. The whole world is progressing too fast materially, but not mentally. Not sure how will everything go in the future, but I hope for the best for humankind as a whole.
