    I had HL60R , love that thing (but sadly lost it during last hike :( ), had great battery life damn bright (more than i've ever needed) and had (at least to me) really intuitive control system. just beware that even if this one has only 200 and some grams, it WILL feel heavy (especially if you switch from all plastic Petzl or black diamond) and on mine, it wa real PITA to charge it directly (via USB port)...

    Got this light today based on your review and it seems very well built like all my other fenix flashlights. My only issue is it doesn't seem to be a true 1600 lumen output and they make their products proprietary so you can't use any other battery besides their own so I couldn't test it with a different 21700 I have a dozen different batteries and none of them work.

    • @stefanozebralight518
      @stefanozebralight518 Před 2 lety

      The 21700 Fenix are protected and very long.
      I buying 21700 KeepPower (8A) they fit perfectly and external charging also works (tested with on PD36TAC and PD36R)

    Isn't 5sec.for locking the lamp?I don't like one button.Two buttons is way better,so you can combine spot&flood the way you want.

  • @stefanozebralight518

    You have information on how long it can maintain maximum power before making a descent down?
    Can this headlamp use two Leds at the same time? (spotlight + floodlight similar to HM65R)
    Thanks

    • @LonghornTactical
      @LonghornTactical  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes the heat map graph can be found on the manufacturer website inside of the HM70R's user manual. It looks like the first step-down happens at around 30 minutes for Turbo mode. This headlamp can have only 1 LED on.

    • @LonghornTactical
      @LonghornTactical  Před 2 lety +2

      HM70R has slightly better run times on the account of it having a larger battery.

    Excuse me, beam throw over 200 yds? If the lamp is on 1600lm at 6:55, it doesn‘t reach more then 25 yds. Which is my experience in praxis - and frustrating as well.

      Nerrrd!

    • @LonghornTactical
      @LonghornTactical  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes beam throw is one of those "marketing" figures that are not heavily regulated or is it indicative of a lights overall performance. The way ANSI/FL1 allows for companies to calculate beam throw is very lax, so manufacturers tend to be very liberal with their intepretations.

  • @adamthomas1222

    What I don't understand is that I have an older HR56R, a light running on 18650 battery, can last longer on floodlight at max brightness at 400 lumens compared to this one that's running a 21700 battery with the same lumens on floodlight mode, by a lot.

    • @-joo3033
      @-joo3033 Před 2 lety +1

      How long does the HM65R last with the Floodlight @400lm ? I saw a 21 hour rating and 22H with the spot light @400lm, that cannot be real with a 3500mah 18650...the HM70R's 8H @ 400lm Floodlight with a 5000mah 21700 is actually reachable

    • @adamthomas1222
      @adamthomas1222 Před 2 lety +1

      @@-joo3033 yeah, that, rated for 20 Hours on 400 lumen flood, but I just read a comment somewhere about it's burn rating Vs actual rating or something like that... I was just confused, why can't they put the actual timings

    • @LonghornTactical
      @LonghornTactical  Před 2 lety +2

      That is interesting, the only difference I could find looking through both manuals is that the
      HM65R uses a Cree XP-G2 R5 Neutral White for the floodlight and the
      HM70R uses a Cree XP-G2 HE Neutral White for the floodlight. It could also be Fenix changed their testing protocol.

    • @adamthomas1222
      @adamthomas1222 Před 2 lety

      @@LonghornTactical yeah you're probably right about them changing the test protocols

    • @adamthomas1222
      @adamthomas1222 Před 2 lety +1

      even the slightly upgraded HM65R-T has its rating of the flood at 400lm at 12 hours (which is still 10 hours short of the original HM65R) how can this one thats running a much bigger battery only have 8 hours? I know they're different led modules but newer leds are supposed to be more efficent not the other way around.

  • @anatoliileo6271

    Will Neutral Low 70 lumen be enough for comfortable reading?

    • @AdamThygerson-lm1gt
      @AdamThygerson-lm1gt Před 3 měsíci

      probably but this is far outside and headlamp designed for reading, it is meant for caving and if you dont need a waterproof light that can put out 1600 lumens for over two hours dont get one.

    Does it have a proper USB Type C port, that can charge from a Type C charger? (C to C cable)
    Or is the USB port not spec compliant and only works with the included Type C to Type A cable?
    I know that a lot of devices save the 1 cent resistor at the CC pin of the USB port that makes it work with a proper Type C charger.
    Has anybody tested this already? I don't want to go through the hassle of ordering this flashlight and then have send it back as defective in case the manufaturer doesn't comply with the USB specification.

    • @-joo3033
