@@jessikat_17 from what I could tell, since I’m still watching the video as I write this comment, the slide in the woods teleported Mark to an Aztec pyramid where human bodies were sacrificed to the gods. Their hearts would get cut out of their chests, pointing to the large puddle of blood on the altar. The heart inside the temple, or the bag of people, could be representative of the number of people that was sacrificed. The monster chasing Mark could be an angered god of some kind. That’s about all I could figure out from that game.
Isnt the Aztec afterlife the one where you go through all the trails and stuff and have the flesh flayed from your bones before you get reincarnated or go to paradise or something

Slide was the best one, they did an incredible job turning a fun activity to do as a kid into a very detailed horror experience. The dated graphics made it even better.
Honestly it was a trip and would have been cool if they put a bit more context like the newspaper in the alternate dimension. Maybe notes from victims or something. Honestly though the chace sequence was probably the most well done, triggers claustrophobia and axiety pretty hard since you don't know whats behind you or in front of you.

All you needed to know was that the slide was causing people to disappear, and get a clear but non-specific explanation of why, and run.
Not that more detail couldn't have been good, but it's more memorable when less is said. The mystery is what keeps good horror in your mind. The worst horror films tell you too much and show you too much. It's why The Thing is my all-time favorite horror film. To this day there are no clear answers on multiple events and you're only left to put together the pieces of when and how.
Plus it singlehandedly gave me claustrophobia

I actually don't mind the "no lights" set up rn. When it's dark in game, it's dark in the room, the monitor basically creates the lighting and I think that'd be good for horror games at least
Yesss, it honestly made it even more fun too when the lights would go up in the game and suddenly there was Mark! Especially the very end of the third game where it was so, so dark, and then everything went white, he goes blind, and the absolute only thing we can see is Mark making faces at the sudden brightness. XD

When Mark plays The Slide In The Woods, I love how every time he got comfortable with going up and down the slide something would spook him.
The use of atmosphere in the first game was so well handled.
Whilst I know the reason is good, the lack of jumpscares made me more unnerved than ever with this one. I kept waiting.
It’s so unsettling that there are no jumpscares in intro and outro
I was waiting for it at the end and now im even more unsettled with the lack of them. However its for an amazing reason so i shall deal with the feeling.

Facts
This is like super late. However when I was a kid, the house we used to live in backed up against a dense forest. Me and my friends would venture out there. There was a stream we would have to pass over to get deeper into the woods. One night (ik ik really stupid of me) I went out alone because I heard some older kids talking about am abandoned tree house/hunting post (the two varied depending on who was talking) so I went out there. I passed over the stream and when I went deeper I found it. It was so old, but still had the ladder leading up, but I heard noises so I panicked and went back home. I practically ran. When I got to the stream, the woods were dead silent. I was more scared of the Silence, so I don't think I've ever ran that fast. To this day, I never went back there. It was so eerie and odd.
Dude that is scary as hell. I could never imagine living next to the woods. Luckily there’s like no forests where I live.
When I was little I thought that the woods behind our house was basically endless, in hindsight I know what’s actually on the other side, the woods probably only extend for maybe a mile or 2 and then it leads into back yards of other houses on the main road that our neighborhood street is on.
Anyways there actually was this set of jungle gym handlebars some ways back there, all the human eye could see from them was woods so it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere, and instead of my parents letting me get scared of what it could mean, my whole family went out there and we took family pictures lmao. Turned out to be a nice memory.
Definitely thought this was about to turn into a Bridge to Terebithia type thing

I know I’m days late but my grandparents old neighborhood had a dense wooded areas and one day when I was like 6 my grandpa told us of an abandon playground deep in the middle. And they took us too it and it was creepy and surreal.

That is creepy and interesting. We used to go to an abandoned horse themed park called Shireland and it was so scary and also situated next to "roller-coaster road" where a student died from driving drunk over the hills and flipping their car into the cornfield. It was the spookiest place and they tore it down. So sad.

Omg, I recently found out about the weirdest and one of the scariest things for me - stairs in the woods. There’s a subreddit with stories about them + some videos on CZcams. The concept is so strange and frightening for some weird reason
I very much hope someone’s told Mark about the staircases randomly found in the woods.
I think most people have heard that reddit post. I do hope you know that stuff on nosleep are fiction. I still really enjoyed the stories though.

@@trenton9527 I have no idea. It just felt really uncomfortable and unsettling. The fact that you play as a child and nothing is as it seems, also no jumpscares. And probably the fact that at the end you're being chased and it feels like the one who's chasing you is right on your tail... which is the scariest thing in horror games in my opinion

In land between the Lakes in West Kentucky there's an abandoned town called Birmingham though you'd never really know it's there, it's buried under the water now. It was flooded to build the dam. Some people refused to leave and if they couldn't swim, well I suppose they're still there. That dam has brought many a man to their death, weather they died building it or because it was built that's the question.
When the lake levels are low you can still see remnants of the old forsaken sundown town. Just another part of Kentucky's horrifying history.

@@Em-os1yz I can tell ya right now it ain't, I just wanted to put in perspective, that that dam may have been good for energy and tourism, but all the same it's left is horrid marks on the community I grew up in. My great uncle drown cause that dam and I'm unsure how many else lost their lives because of it.

tbh I really enjoyed reading your comment! I thought the way you told it gave it more personality. I do agree that your comment is reminiscent of creepy pastas but I don't see how that's a bad thing at all! I love horror stories! Sometimes when people retell their memories it can end up being too factual or too brief but what you did is create imagery that made me feel like I was reading the beginning of a novel. So, I love your comment!

holy fuck the slide in the woods was so simple but probably one of my favorite horror games ive watched mark play. it was tense and terrifying and the sound design was just soo good. had me at the edge of my seat for a solid 8 minutes.

At my great grandmas house there was a trail. Me and my cousin would go to the trail to play well one time we went off the trail to find frogs and we stumbled across an old victorian home that looked like it had been burned down. There were antiques and burned wood, papers, clothes, and paintings just covering the place. To this day me and my cousin never told anyone and its still there.
