  • @holisticlivingradhika4359

    Looks delicious! Thanks. In the US, the tofu dish is known as scrambled tofu. I was excited by title thinking that you were going to show us how to make destarched rice which makes the rice starch resistant hence the carb cannot affect glucose levels and the resistant starch gets absorbed in large intestine and helps microbes and colon health. If you know about this please create a video on it because sometimes only rice will do. These substitutes really don't taste the same, only the texture feels like rice.

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  Před 4 lety +1

      I tend not to freeze my rice as the texture of tofu and shirataki might change after freezing. But it generally keeps well in the fridge. 2-3 days no problem.

    • @HeavenlyFan
      @HeavenlyFan  Před 5 lety +3

      Check the ingredients for the "shirataki rice". If it contains more than 3 items( yam, water and setting agent) then I would avoid it. Many zero carb rice and noodles are very processed and contain additives and starches that shouldn't be there. I'm sticking with traditional shirataki.

  • @sakra123

    Thank you so much for the video and ideas.
    I make cauliflower rice without cooking the cauliflower in water, but just softening it in the microwave. This way it does not accumulate moisture and when you grind it in a food processor you get grains of non-sticky rice. Only if I intend to make sushi then I steam the cauliflower over water, because the rice is supposed to be stickier.
    I tried to make the tofu rice with the konjac (shirtaki) noodles and it was tasteless.
    I think it is better to prepare the vegetables and then add the crumbled tofu with the noodles.
    That way it will absorb flavors.
    But maybe because I grew up on very seasoned rice and white rice without seasoning was never served to our table.

  • @susannac3894
    @susannac3894 Před 2 lety

    I wonder why people bother to make all these substitutes to rice. They may look like rice. But they taste totally different. I found the shirataki too rubbery and awful to eat. This is just my personal opinion. I would just eat Quinoa or go without it with a dish. It tastes like rice but with a little more Carb than the substitutes.

    Hi there. Very educational watching your clip. Question: I thought tofu is not recommended for keto diet because most of them are made of GMO soy beans? Same with soy sauce . Your thought ?

    • @bethanyday3471
      @bethanyday3471 Před 4 lety +3

      for one, even if ALL SOY was GMO, why would GMO not be suitable for keto? is there hidden carbs in GMO that i was unaware of? for two, not all soy is GMO, you can read it right on the darn package. it will say "non-gmo", most soy companies no longer use gmo soy just because of this stupid stigma, and for three, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH GMO FOODS! Almost every single food out this has been genetically modified, especially the animals people eat. have you seen what most vegetables and fruit looked like before we started messing with them? not much flesh or flavor. do some real research on gmo and learn that it is actually a good thing.

    • @thewickedwitchofthenorth6582
      @thewickedwitchofthenorth6582 Před 2 lety

      Tofu is soy and is not a keto friendly ingredient. People will twist keto to be 'dirty keto' or do what you please keto etc. Real keto is no tofu., no grain, no sugar, no starch. It's got really nothing to do with GMO.
