- The just-released 2WD RC Vintage Racing Buggy from Schumacher Racing. In this video, we take a good look at the new release and get it built and on the track. We then put it head to head with its previous incarnation, the Top Cat to see who can set the fastest time and take the top spot on the timing wall.
The COUGAR Classic is an authentic re-release using much of the original tooling, but with a few subtle improvements such as fittings for modern lipo batteries. The COUGAR Classic will be a top contender at vintage RC races or will make a fabulous addition to any collection.

Best shocks I have ever built, smooth as glass. I love it mate, but I love the Top Cat too! I love the ball diffs too as they are super reliable and very efficient. I'm also a massive fan of the belt drive system!!

Finished the chassis and electronics build on mine today. Agree with the comments on the UJs and shock circlips - tricky! Otherwise a nice build. I actually managed to pick up several hop-ups while waiting for the kit to come so good to fit them during build rather than after. So mine's got Pro Transmission, alloy eccentrics, alloy lipo posts, JC Racing neon yellow spoked wheels, Schumacher mini-dart tyres and titanium turnbuckles. Just need to do the body in the same colours (black/neon yellow) as the Cougar I had in '92/93.
100% agree on the upgrades. Much better to do them on the build.

Hi there. Never had a Schumacher rc. Back in my racing days alot of my fellow racers we’re upgrading from there kyosho to the Schumacher cat and i think the cougars. ✌️
2wd drifting on the dirt tracks on opersite lock was the best fun
Love the Cougar...When I started racing RC in the 80's I wanted to go with Schumacher but I couldn't get parts for it over here in the USA easily
Part access is key for racing or it stops being fun real fast.
Brake last min turn and then throttle when it immediately starts to rotate that’s how you take tight corners with 2wd
It kicks the arse round instead of coasting

1 to 2 days to build lol i built my cougar 2 works on the dining room table by Christmas dinner as a child, May be 2 days waiting for the paint to dry. Would really love my old cars back, only have a Cougar 2000 and thats not my original. 😔

Just built my kit and the manual states 550cst front 400cst rear for the shocks. But I got 400cst and 350cst in the kit box. I ended up using the recommended oils from the leftover of my shcumacher LD2 and found that the front is now really bouncy and has slow rebound. Could it possibly be that they knew and thats why they supplied the lower cst oils with the kit? Did you have the same rated oils with your kit?
mi choice is the top cat with outboard front shocks it got nicknamed the timcat
Extend the front kickback bolts to take one end of the shock and the other end goes to the outer mounting of the push rod to lay the shock down on the front of each side
And I just had a thought. How about a disassembly/rebuild of a true classic, such as an RC10 gold chassis machine? All us oldies would watch that, and youngsters in their 30's would be interested to see the differences between that and a latest version. (especially the old strange servo saver steering thingy that Associated came up with.)

This body has some nice lines that flow well so you can mix it up really easily for sure. I like the body design but I’m not sold on the canopy window as it’s a bit fat and on the big side. I’m picking as it’s only a small thing.

I've been watching your video's and some from here in the US and some people are not favorable to Schumacher. Me well I kinda like Schumacher. I'm torn between the Schumacher Cougar and Associated RC 10. I have a oldie but goodie Schumacher XR-T Nitro .21. yes it still runs it has a Thunder tiger .21 in it. What do you think of this oldie but goodie?
The cougar was loud. But both were neat.

The top cat body looks better than the Cougar but I prefer the stand up dampers 🤔 so a combination of both? 😊

I had a storm club 10 same as the cougar when it came out in 92. Is the cougar classic a club 10 renamed? I turned it into a cougar later on and bought a cougar 2 chassis for that purple anodised look. Always wanted a cat 2000 later on dreams

Yep the Cougar came out in a few flavours. Cougar, Cougar 2, Cougar 2 Works, Cougar Club 10 and I’m sure one or two others I guess.

@@RCKickschannel it was just wheel and a different front bumper from memory there rear shock towers had been modified to take body posts. the cougar 200 was a ground up redesign.
I have a cougar kit on order. I am still waiting for it. The cougar reminds of the rc10 buggy. I would like to see the cougar go up the rc10. Thoughts?

There is a 12m hex adapter on shapeways for the 8mm castle schumacher hub!
Pinion sounds way to tight on the cougar, was it even 48dp?

Is that gear mesh (pitch)right? That is shockingly loud.
Looks OK and the Top Cat also has a little of that but a load less. I’ll order two new pinions for them tonight.

Guy whats that motor cover 🤮 mine has "Top Cat" on it ! Whats with the servo posts 🤮 take them out and get that servo stuck down with double sided tape lol
