  • I bought back the 1959 Dodge D-300 truck that I learned to drive a manual transmission in when I was about 8 years old. It's been abandoned for over 20 years, will it run again? Can we make it look like it used to?

Watching you build a truck bed out of scrap, chopping up a cherry picker and welding it to the back, all while drinking twisted teas and a ciggy hanging out of your mouth is why I watch this channel lol. Always entertaining. Watching I've learned that you know how to do stuff right just enough so that you know how to get away with doing it the wrong way but still make it work.

Seeing you hold up that old picture of you as a kid standing by your truck, then dropping it to show your son doing the same hit me in the feels. I'm glad you got it back, because it's hard to put a price on nostalgia, especially when you can make new memories like that later in life. Personally, I think she deserves a little love, man. I think your use-case for it is great, and I wouldn't go crazy either. But some decent tires, make the doors close, bumper and lights, starter and clutch, and maybe a touch of brakes. It's cool that your kiddo has a chance to learn on it just like you did!

Dalton don’t be afraid to show his friends too. There are a lot of pussy fathers out there that refuse to get their hands dirty and have zero patience. So if that kid misses the boat you have the father, kid, and his kid down the road that aren’t involved in fixing the problem. Keep being a good dad. Trust me JD appreciates you very much you can see it on his face when you talk to him. Down the road his friends will too. Trust me….

Us guys are so simple, days of smiles and enjoyment over some old junk. My wife doesn't get why I like to mess with this old stuff but she knows it makes me happy. She's always saying that she doesn't get why I do it cuz it always puts me in a bad mood. It's the end result, putting something someone threw away or forgot about back in working condition and putting it to work. All the anger, busted knuckles, missing tools in the woods I give my kids 5 bucks a piece to go find is always worth the end result,a stupid toddler like smile and some burnouts to make sure the work is done right. I've been watching you since the beginning, you haven't changed a bit and I've learned some great stuff especially with the body work. Don't change, this channel is perfect the way that it is.

A 1966 Chevrolet Caprice 427 4-speed car black exterior with red interior and a 12 bolt positraction rear end with 3:73 gears but I know that will never happen unless I win the lottery. I'm literally below poverty level due to a rollover accident that left me 100% disabled and unable to work. I'm trying to survive on 1,300 a month. I'll never be able to find the car with my financial situation.. plus my pops has Alzheimer's and Dementia. Love the channel and I love seeing you work on these vehicles with your son. Both you and JD are worker Bees. JD is great getting good camera angles. I wander Dalton why you got the bed on the truck so fast and then I realized it was because of your Mother telling you all the time to take care of your bed. I love the old trucks and the history they represent. This was another Pole Barn classic episode.

Dalton this was a real treat for me to watch. Thank you for such quality content. At the age of 19 I begrudgingly sold my first car, a 1967 Firebird 400 that I procured at the age of 14. But, I managed to hold on to the first vehicle that I drove, a 1977 Chevy Silverado short bed 4x4 with a granny 4 speed and a 12 bolt with a posi. That truck has served me and my family well since the early 80's when my dad first brought it home. It got me "there and back" from every fishing trip, camping adventure, hunting trip, and firewood retrieval mission. I fully respect your desire to keep the poly 318, though I can't help but wish you would do a dingle ball rebuild and re-ring it. Of course with the amount of oil blowing by it's more than likely that an overbore would be in order...perhaps a $400-$500 junkyard "magnum" 318 with a carb swap could serve as content for an upcoming episode.

The relationship you have with your son is the relationship that I inspire to have with my son when he gets older. Great parenting and great video.

    I had keys to my Dad’s 86 F150 4.9L with a granny low 4speed when I was about 8 or 9. Great memories.

I enjoyed seeing you really appreciate buying back this old truck and savoring all the memories you had of it. I could tell you appreciated what a great old work horse it was and still is. What really got me is seeing you let your son drive it, learning how to work the clutch and let it creep along. I was glad to see you make the original engine live again! Bravo!

I’m 16, was working on my first truck and had to replace the dash on it with my dad yesterday, it was a lot of fun spent all day in the lil 98 Sonoma. Honestly idk how kids hate doing these kind of stuff with their dad because I thrive off it

I really loved this. It brought back memories of my dad teaching me to drive stick on a 1957 Jeep pick up out at a bait farm in my hometown that me and my brothers all worked at as our first job. It was really cool to see you teaching JD to drive stick on it, just like you learned on it. Traditions like that are the important things in life, and I think you just created a huge core memory for him. Stuff like this is why I love your channel. I think you should get her running real good and make it road worthy. It should be the channel second mascot next to the Holey Goat. You're a good man Dalton.
