Kinda messed up how this wont more views than what others more take 10 minutes (even worse, A COACHING SEESION) to explain. So much value in just that 1 minute
I cannot overstate how helpful these Reina guides have been for understanding not just the character, but Tekken as well. No muss, no fuss, just pure information.
1:44 might be the single greatest thing for new players that struggle knowing when to take there turn back, not just punishing. Your out here fighting the good fight my guy.
OH THANK YOU SO MUCH i really need these short and clear videos. I have a big problem with properly punishing the opponent (i barely do anything but the 112 string as a punish)
Just wanted to say thank you and congrats for such high quality content. The videos are concise, well narrated, well edited, and packed with good information.
wow, great vid, the general rules is such an overlooked part of tutorials. It's always painted to be very specific for every move so pretty overwhelming, approaching it like this helps digest it one part at a time.🎉
This is a really nice guide especially for newcomers to the Tekken series. Us Tekken veterans have a general rule of what to punish and what to not and you condensing that into a short section here is super useful
Ive only recently started familiarizing frames and became more observant in what moves are punishable on block just by eyeballing, compared to before when I just tried to interrupt most strings. It's definitely improved my game. This is a solid guide
I just got tekkken 8 and Reina is the reason I honestly got it 😂 idk why I love her playstyle is fun. Still learning a lot but this video helps thanks bro
Why didn't I know about it earlier... To me it is the best Channel for Reina so far... I've only watched 2 videos and I have to say... It's the best... Just pure information... Love You
Definitely going to study this...I need to be able to know these punishes well...not for the hardest AI but to make the Eddy swarm that is rampaging around ranked finally fear my Reina I did resort to that main costume as well but I added extra flair to it. Reina remains my main character in this game and the primary reason I got the game so far Reina has pretty much everything I want in a character but I want to entrench it empower her to become a force to be reckoned with. This one of the most important parts of the path.
Another thing to mention is that Reina's strings that can transition into Sentai are more plus when transitioning into the stance rather than just cancelling it. Use this to add some pressure after getting a punish. Of course there will be some scenarios where cancelling the stance might help, but this is just a tip I'm throwing out.
As a new player I'm actually trying to pick up reina as a pocket or secondary as she is really fun to play So I'm gonna go through the guide and learn her correctly Even if I can't get EWGF on P1, that will eventually come with practice, and knowing stuff like this will greatly help
I really appreciate the most x moves are X. Not new to fighting games bor a Reina player, but definitely new to taking Tekken somewhat seriously, the hardest thing I’m finding is playing against folks who have years of experience over me, and they’ll look at a move and instantly recognize how to deal with it. Been learning through trial by fire and ballparking it. Now that I know shoulders are generally super punishable, I can stop letting Pauls get away with it for free
getting into tekken 8 and playing reina. am i supposed to be memorizing every damn attack and their frame data and every frame stat of other characters attacks? like im fine learning the moves, but do i really have to be counting frames all game to win??
Thanks for the awesome guides! I had a question regarding punishing that I’ve noticed when I’ve been labbing: Sometimes, moves that should be able to punish something never really do? For example, if i block an attack that leaves the opponent -15, I should be able to hit a EWGF given that the frame data says it’s only 11 frames of start up. However I find that I can almost never punish anything with EWGF despite it having relatively low start up frames. My guess is that I’m just too slow in inputting it and so the opponent still has time to block but even when I use the special style to give me a EWGF at a single button press, it can’t really punish -15 moves? This doesn’t just happen with the EWGF, I find that Reinas 10f punish (1,1,2) can also be a bit inconsistent in terms of actually hitting after a block string, even though I feel like I’m hitting the 1 button as soon as I possibly can. Is there something I’m missing or am I just reacting too slow?
EWGF has 11 startup frames but the startup only begins once the whole move is input. It’s i14f at fastest because the F, n and D need 1 frame at minimum to input, then when DF2 is pressed the 11 startup frames begin (F+n+D+11=14). Unless you do a PEWGF which is F,n,DF2 which is i13f at quickest. It’s actually pretty difficult to punish -15 with EWGF, so don’t be discouraged. You can use DF2 instead if it’s more consistent for you. As for the 10f punish, you could be inputting it 1 frame late or maybe there’s some lag or rollback, not too sure about that one 😢. You can go into practice mode and drill a few punishes to really get down the timing, especially for EWGF
Still working on Reina and doing seemingly well. I'm trying to remember what moves, at the very least, push the opponent far enough on block for you to backstep safely or look for a whiff punish.
Question... is the Frames that we are looking for the "Attack Startup Frames" Is that the number we need to check for? When looking for different frames moves?
Attack start up frames refers to how many frames it takes an attack to have a hitbox, so yeah thats what we check for along side block frames, which is how many frames plus or minus we are after a move is blocked 👍
She also has 2~1 for i11 punishment. Hard to do but it knocks down for a free stomp or cd3 and it also wall splats. 2~1 is also guranteed most of the time after ws3+4, it's guranteed on the wall along with 1+2 for a wallsplat.
While in practice mode it says 2~1 is i11(and it technically is) it's for all practical purposes actually i14. It does this because the frame display doesn't take into account 3 frames of 2's startup before it's cancelled into 2~1 It's somewhat similar to how electrics are technically i11 but because you need to input the crouch dash they're in practical terms i13/14
What are good whiff punish tools? I usually try to ewgf but I'm not usually in range. Alternatively, I use orbital (3+4) but it isn't a launch punish. So many Hworang's will just whiff moves in front of you an I want to know how to hit them lol.
@@MishimaComplex Ye I dont understand the dash electric. It seems to only come out with a down input (F * D DF+2) and not the quicker version you can do in neutral (F * DF+2). It is either that or the DF+2 needs to be perfect. Otherwise, I just get DF2 or D2 when I try to dash electric. I havnt quite figured out what the game actually needs me to do for it to work. If you have thoughts I would greatly appreciate it! I have been using UF4 as a whiff punish and it is pretty easy. The hitbox is just a bit high sometimes.
My issue isn’t the punishing more of I mash too much when I think I have an opening. Lars for example me blocking for a solid 20 seconds straight and the mf somehow is still plus I don’t get it I literally have a clip of blocking from 60-40
It’s takes 11 frames to come out after you’ve input the whole move, but due to needing to input F,n,D before the DF+2 it takes 3 more frames at fastest, which make it i14f
1:44 This part is GOLD, my god

Really thoughtful including general punish frame rules for new players. Great idea!

There is also 2~1 into stomp or electric kick at -14 and for -12 1+2 if the opponent recovers crouching.

hello quick question about crouch launchers
why would i do crouch 3 punish instead of 4
since 4 give u full combo while 3 tornado immediately

Should note that ff2~SEN3 also works at 13f. It's frame perfect just like a perfect electric, but is easier to execute.

The kick out of her mist step fn3 or 4, is good for that, WR4 into back dash works too 👍
What would be the best punish for Paul's deathfist? i.e. Moves with lots of pushback
When Reina do F+N punch parry, what to do after that ?
Question... is the Frames that we are looking for the "Attack Startup Frames" Is that the number we need to check for? When looking for different frames moves?
Attack start up frames refers to how many frames it takes an attack to have a hitbox, so yeah thats what we check for along side block frames, which is how many frames plus or minus we are after a move is blocked 👍
This came at a perfect time as I need better punishment tools than 1,1,2, df1,1 or 2,2,1. Or jabs. I abuse jabs too much.
I need gameplay from u. You my fav Reina rn. Or a stream
Hopefully soon! 🙏
Thanks for this. My tag in the game is " PHD IN PUNISHMENT ".
"pain is the best teacher" this is why i pickup reina and try to learn electrics

you can do it, it's not impossible but it's also not easy. the way i think of it is a flash punish from yoshi; it makes me fail less.@@Quirkee37
@@knixps4564 No even with frame perfect inputs it'll come out at i14
WHY AM I JUST HEARING THIS!? I wish they put a short guide in the game on how to tell if moves are punishable without testing every single one
What are good whiff punish tools? I usually try to ewgf but I'm not usually in range. Alternatively, I use orbital (3+4) but it isn't a launch punish.
So many Hworang's will just whiff moves in front of you an I want to know how to hit them lol.
3+4 and FF2 are the safest bets, unfortunately for something long range you’ll need to learn quick dash electrics which is pretty difficult 😱

You forgot about 2~1 stomp for i11, insane damage
It's not i11 but still yeah I think it's doable for 13 and 14
2~1 into cd 3 is also a chunky 11 frame punisher
damn clicked on the wrong video. was searching on how to punish reina herself lmao
There is also 2~1 but it can't be buffered
Rage art punishment?
what does 'i' stand for? i(number)frames
i stands for impact meaning how many frames does it take for a move to input (including inputs involved)

I thought this would be a guide on how to punish Reina :// welp time to play another 60/70 games against her...
why does it say electric starting at i11?
It’s takes 11 frames to come out after you’ve input the whole move, but due to needing to input F,n,D before the DF+2 it takes 3 more frames at fastest, which make it i14f
“Nut to head…”
Say no more.
“Pain is the best teacher” Amen 🙏👌
1:04 just a quick 14 frame electric, no biggie 😆
This guy’s voice almost sounds like the Tekken 4 announcer
The punish is basic, but it's not easy to know the good punish with the right timing.
