- The 2024 Range Rover SE P530 ($130,400 USD starting, $152,650 CAD before lux tax), the 2024 BMW X7 M60i ($108,700 USD starting, $132,000 CAD before lux tax) and the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 ($112,000 USD starting, $140,500 CAD before lux tax) are ready for a luxury SUV showdown. Each has over 500 horsepower, a sub 5 second 0-60 mph time, and a whole lot of luxury goodies and comforts. But how could you choose? To help them decide, Thomas and James are going to use some very scientific methods. We hope you enjoy the episode! And then subscribe, silly.
Huge thank you to @markyourcarguy and the team at Budds Land Rover for lending us their Range Rover. Check out their inventory here! www.buddslandrover.com/

That ending was wild and had me laughing way louder than I should've been
SAME HAHAHAH 😂😂
Wild that for a 100 grand they all have major problems lol
totally 😂😂
Me too LOL!!!
the problem is that they cost like 150k each@@shade4042
Clever of you guys not to cut the helmet bump out of the intro. The community (including me) would lost its collective marbles
Agreed! Love the new intro boys.
I like the idea that every intro refresh, the clip just gets increasingly trimmed until it's just a flash of him hitting his head.
For some reason the helmet bump puts a smile on my face every time :)
@@marwanazzam4160that hollow metal sound…
I was momentarily terrified when I realized it was a new intro. Then paused the video to come to the comments and celebrate that it's still there.
the issue with the Range Rover is once you spec it out to an equivalent x7 you can get an X7 AND an M340 for the price of the Range Rover
And you can't take advantage of the depreciation and buy a used one because of the reliability.
I have an idea. Let's take the designers from the Range Rover and the engineers from BMW and build the ultimate SUV.
But a Range Rover has such presence and status symbol and bmw looks like any other BMW
@@DiaperSNiFFER indeed, it’s the car to get when money is no object especially if you can buy it under your company and save a ton. An added bonus is it comes with a nice looking front end.
Or you can buy 1 car that is significantly better than all 3 by light years
Man that X7 was soooo close to being perfect, seems like the XB7 really is just the perfect version of it
Why does the XB7 make it anymore perfect?
@@0DWalker0 much more refined as alpina does, though Im not sure if alpina changed anything about the wireless charger

Congrats to the Audi!
Yea I like the way they left Audi out
That's what Audi gets for being the most boring luxury brand
@@cosmic_gate476 For what it’s worth, at least the respective iteration Q7/Q8 will have aged miles better in the aesthetics department than both the Merc and BMW. That and considering the Q9 is going to release sometime this year (IIRC), it’ll be interesting to see what Audi brings to the Flagship SUV segment
@@Beepin1 Audi doesn't make a real GLS and X7 competitor, the Q7 is sized and priced against X5 and GLE.
😂 I respect this comment 🧎♂️
Even as a very happy Range Rover owner, the ending has me rolling. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard at a car review.
I died when I saw that
Probably won't be happy for long until you get endless engine lights and coolant leaks 😂 how many times has your coolant low message been on already? Haha
Please tell me you've had problems.
@@AR-rs2dy before like 5 years my ex-boss had 2 RR's, brand new from the dealer. The problems started ariving like half a year later since he got the SUV's. Mostly electrical problems. And it's like we send the vechicles back to the delaer to fix the issues, they do it and after like 2 months something pops up again. Reliability is no the word i'll use in 1 sentence with RR's these days.

Ok but I actually feel Thomas’s pain in the Range Rover. My mom owns a 2020, and the rear cargo cover ALWAYS rattles and it drives me insane and my parents are like “I don’t hear anything.” 😑
True range experience
That a true land rover ownership experience. Even if you hate certain things, you'll learn to live with it
Can I taste the drive of that Range Rover please😂
You can remove the whole thing. I removed it 1 year in.
It hard being rich smh 😢
You guys never disappoint!! The ending was hilarious! Thanks for bringing the awesome car reviews!!
The intros never do miss do they?? Keep up the good work guys :D so proud to see y'all become the natural successor to the OG Top Gear🧡
No one cares that you’re proud.
True!
I feel like the three host model just allows for so many more shenanigans and hijinks. I'd love to see Thomas and James find a kindred spirit to complete the thruple.
not even close
The " Get In Helmet" clip will FOREVER live on in the intro 😂😂😂
Just randomly hearing that clink sound at any time, place or occasion causes the minds eye to instantly conjure James in his most iconic moment😂
😂
You guys give so such old school top gear vibes! Love you!
Great review! Thank you guys for your work!
Tucking the side window seals under the door sill was a great design choice for the Range Rover. Hope you keep nerding out on this stuff, I always felt like the details make the car.
I love it when cars lift the front up on acceleration 👌
Very visible on the g wagon
@@amedzipeter1915 yeah, that thing lifts like crazy. Super cool
This is a rare moment where I’ve been in all 3 of the vehicles tested (technically an Alpina X7). I prefer the Range Rover most out of the 3. It feels the most unique, the most special to drive. All the little changes from traditional layouts stood out pleasantly. Ride wise its also the one that felt “special”. Like blindfolded the others were just cars while RR was noticeable
until it breaks down
Looking at them inside and out it's not even close. I'm surprised James was hedging as much as he was. This Mercedes looks like an NPC wife/mom car. And he nailed it saying it doesn't look the price. The BMW is gaudy and awful. Lights in the speaker drivers? Tasteless IMO.
@air-headedaviator1805 how was the Range Rover more unique than an Alpina B7?
Range Rovers are a dime a dozen everyone has one but you’ll rarely see an Alpina B7.
@@TheBucketOfTruthyeah it's getting too gaudy, I liked pre LCI without the extra lights in the dash trim. And the tweeter lights have not aged well the moment it came out, looks like it came off of wish or something.
To go along with the criticism, I'm not a fan of the leds in the RR bumper, almost looks after market, X7 it too messy, and GLS getting overstyled
@@joshuathomas512 you people complain about everything, huh? might as well tell all the design teams to fuck off at this point lmao, i know you couldnt do any better.
Guys great start in to 2024, love the video really great comparisons love it, more comparisons like this and keep up with getting us best car content out there :)
I know a lot of people have said this before but you guys really have the magic of the original top gear. Keep making awesome content
The X7's wireless charger is pretty hard to use, you have to align it properly. I suggest laying it not all the way back, your phone has to be almost against the light. Hope this helps!
Exactly this, if I were to add anything it would be that if you belong those that want to put a nice case on your shiny phone and still want to use the X7's wireless charger you can just forget it, anything thicker than a screen protector moves the phone too far away to be able to take the charge... At least both the GLS and the Range Rover ones work far better.
@@nanomageidk tho, I don’t use a case and every car from Audi, bmw, and Mercedes I’ve driven the last few years all have sucky wireless chargers
So fking stupid!!! Throw it in there and be done with it. Crazy
@@jordank195this. Same on the new X5, out of the case helps enormously 👍
Does it have a USB slot to plug in an actual charger cable ?

17:03 - What a stellar sound byte.
Video after video, year after year these guys keep getting better! Thanks for keeping us all informed and entertained.
I would pick the Range just based on looks alone, whenever I see one on the road I'm just in awe at how sophisticated it looks, the design is on another level.
That's about all that's good about it. The looks.
@@TheSmokingDenoffroad capability is best in class, its most smoother
It sure is great when it works
You'll regret it very soon 😞
No, the X7 is better
Price and reliability aside I wouldn’t mind having any of them they all look amazing
James's line about the BMW's terrible wireless car charging feature-- "did you mean campfire for your phone" was spit your drink out funny lollll

A tap dancing monkey is better than them. Bunch of man child muppets that keep screaming "horsepower and torque" every video, unwatchable.
The blackened grill on the X7 makes it look good.
The Range Rover looks better than all but I would pick the X7 because I like the engagement of the drive.
Hey I like the decibel testing. Can you keep doing that for future videos?
2:22 Intro has the wicked Mustang slide in behind Thomas in the Camaro. Still my favorite shot on TH! Love you guys!
One of the only pros to staying up till 5am, getting to see new Throttle House videos within minutes of posting. Love the content, keep it up Thomas, James, and crew!

Don't do that to yourself. A good " night's " sleep is magical and essential.
Okay loser 😂
Did you consider waking up early?
Will be interesting to see how the new Audi Q9 stacks up against these when it comes out.
Does not matter really. Cadillac is King, the V is even more bonkers, and now the upcoming Cadillac Escalade IQ and an updated V. These are just not there. Yet
@@Posting-Maharashtra Escalade V is pretty cool but expensive for the interior quality, but I realize that's subjetive. Regarding their electric cars though, Cadillac can't even deliver Lyriqs within 22 months of order. At least they couldn't when I tried to buy one. Now they're announcing the Optiq and IQ, while simultaneously saying GM is slowing down investment in Ultium until interest rates drop. So to me Cadillac EVs are vaporware til they're in customer hands.
But the q7 is a large 7 seat suv.
@@HazemKhattab-gk1ul its a class smaller than these. Q7 is more in line with GLE, X5, MDX, XC90, GV80

I just love you guys. Every video is funny yet informative 8:50 and just makes my day. Non-sequitur - the old i8 test with the batting helmet remains the funniest bit I’ve ever seen on CZcams. I’ve seen it a hundred times and it still cracks me up.
FINALLY! The comparison i've been waiting for. Thanks Throttle House!

Me too, now I can finally buy LR RR 1:24 in tobacco brown
Very good review boys always enjoy it
Love the new intro boys. Crushing it already for 2024 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Another great video! I love how much fun you guys seem to have.
I really appreciate the amount of design restraint and editing it takes to create the Range Rover aesthetic. It actually seems pretty gutsy to have a minimalist design, because every problem will stick out like a sore thumb. BTW, that Range Rover car was actually pretty cool looking. AI is pretty incredible.
I'd buy that RR car in a heartbeat just for how the grill and headlights looked on it. Really incredible AI stuff
The end was incredible and Thomas gave hilarious moments with James so good the new intro vid was incredible
I love the new intro - and the fact that you kept the helmet moment. It must live on forever!
Great video topic
informative and mighty fun all at the same time!! keep it up guys!!
Absolutely love the new intro clip. You guys present as a very high end automotive magazine!
In order them, car wow, savage geese, doug demuro, and then motor trend is who I trust the most when it comes to car review companies that post videos reviewing cars. Doug demuro is the lowest because there’s been times he’s reviewed cars and given them ratings that didn’t correlate with the majority of the comments he had of it doing the review
These guys do fantastic reviews, top notch.
Brilliant ending and a marvellous video!
Thanks again guys, love it! Small practical favor to ask, when you drive in the back, could you use the central armrest to display the rear seat comfort? 🙂
That ending...classic Throttle House humor. Love you guys!!
Best video ever! specially the conclusion lol!
I love your videos!! It's just like you guys are reading my mind 😂
Greetings from Germany!
The new intro clip is great, good mix of the previous one and some great moments from last year!
That lineup is basically the equivalent of a 90s W140 S Class, E38 7, and X300 XJ for the modern market. I realize the S and 7 are still in production but these are largely appealing to the crowd that bought those new in period
Thanks for solidifying my decision to purchase the GLS 63!
The worst of everything
I think I would actually perfer the X7 with chrome accents and some nice silver wheels. Blue and sliver just go so perfectly together and the blacked-out look was played-out four years ago.
That ending was hysterical. Another fantastic and entertaining video.
We traded our 4th GLS in on an X7M60. We drove it for less than 30 days before returning it and going back to MB. The air conditioning system in the BMW is simply inadequate for warm climates (we live in Kansas City). It’s very easy to demonstrate with a $20 anemometer (wind gauge). The airflow from the front vents when set to maximum is less than half the airflow from any other car I tested. And the vent size is on the average to small side. The cabin would not cool below 85 on a warm midwestern day unless driven continuously on a highway for 45 minutes or longer.
Moreover, the BMW doesn’t allow you to disable auto off without some trickery (disabling traction control). The MB however uses a DC compressor powered off the 48v battery and thus continues to run even when the engine stops at a light. BMW is aware of the issue as many have complained. Such a simple thing that made an otherwise great car a total no-go for us.
how much did you lose for driving it off the lot and returning it?
Agree having owned both GLS and an X5. BMW makes great cars but their A/C design and execution is pathetic.
@@DonLee1980 it wasn’t pretty. But we were going to have to invest in a winter wheel/tire setup if we kept the BMW so that kind of offset a bit. FWIW, you can’t buy all seasons or winter tires for the stock wheels on the X7. No one makes them wide enough for the rear…
You Right
BMW has problems overall with AC and even heating problems . Try living in Canada and having almost no heat coming out in winter 😭. I have had many bmw models and they all have this problem new or old
beyond me wtf you re on about...had a 320d f30 as my first car, and the air was working perfectly, now have a 2016 530d and the air conditioning is excelent@@maxthemaltesedog3597

That ending actually had me laughing to the point that a single tear came out of my left eye.
And the winner is my 2014 Honda pilot awd touring. Has not broke down once in 130,000 miles and it didn’t break the bank to buy or operate. Thanks for watching
That front only works on the X7, the 7 series though not so much.

I'd lease the Range Rover... though the X7 is great the front end disqualifies it for me.
I'd buy it. Only own a car if it's paid off.
@@v12-s65when you have Range Rover money you don’t care about owning, and mostly likely want a lease because maintenance will be taken care of by the dealer
@@drakeanton2000
what stupid rule says that?
Land Rover maintainance and warranty are always included (4 years), doesn't matter the payment method.(atleast for whole europe)
If they scam Americans by not including free maintanance then good job Land Rover.
A lease means you pay more due to interest, period. There are no benefits you just wanna get rid off it after a certain time without bothering selling it.
If it breaks down during a lease without warranty you still pay for the repairs.
And you pay for maintanance obviously. If that's free with leasing then therefore they just charge you more per month to compensate lmao.
Before you come at me, that's how things work in Europe, would be a wonder if not overseas.
@@v12-s65I lease a RR Autobiography lwb in US. I have the 2023 X7 40i and to me what bugs me is the climate control settings. The 24’ version looks easier to work with. But regardless it’s a very good suv and enjoy driving it. the b58 motor really shines on it

The Range Rover will always be the OG luxury SUV, it has defined the luxury SUV class since the 1970's. There's no beating it. The car feels like it would fit right in with the likes of the Bentayga and Cullinan (but half the price).
There’s no luxury at having a car at the shop for weeks at a time
@@eranmaron909 It's the price you pay. Never said it was a reliable car, it obviously isn't. However, they still sell very well, don't they?
@@1Redddsuckers born every day, so yeah, people still buy them.
The Range Rover is the best looking of the bunch by a country mile. It’s just so elegant.
Both of you are the definition of good content
I’d have to go with the Range Rover, since I’d actually use it off road and I do lust for a comfortable drive, since I’m in Ireland a D350 would probably be what I’d go for and probably some smaller wheels to fit some bigger tyres for off road use.
Also get a Toyota for actually driving back
off road the range rover will kill the other two for sure. unless off road is the middle of the outback in Australia, then there's a good chance it'll kill you when it shuts down and refuses to start because 'sensor x' has malfunctioned.
Cheers to the Range Rover! I plan to order my P530 in March as it’ll deliver in 2026. I’ll continue loving my Defender till it arrives! The RR is second to none! Only the Cullinan surpasses it but that’s in a class all alone.

Such a good video
Ah, the depreciation kings.
Ironically I was thinking about choosing the SQ7 either way. Yes its smaller than the X7 and GLS with a much less usable third row, but it also weighs 500lbs less than the next closest competitor with turbo v8s and costs just 90K starting.
We got ceramic brakes & sport differential on the SQ7 and I'm 100% sure it's lighter than the US specs (in Europe sunroof, third row and other stuff isnt standard).
The car ride and handle so well, basically like a cayenne turbo on discount.
😂😂😂
This one was the best car review ever... Thanks you guys
Is there a way to close the sunshades on the panoramic glass on the Range Rover? Cause even having my sunroof cover open vs closed on my 2008 makes a huge difference to cabin sound.
I would love to see a review on the Range Rover with P615 engine.
My 0.02$ pick will be a Porsche Macan or the SQ7. Overall quality, Ride experience and value for the $$$
Great video as always. You guys do a great job. Until watching your videos I had no idea that the inductive chargers in most cars are shite! I've been blissfully unaware as the charger in my wife's Denali Sierra keeps the Android phone cold and charges very fast.
Hmmm....maybe this is an Apple problem?
I'm not so lucky as my truck was built during the chip shortage and lacks a charger (BOO) and parking sensors (YAY!) My Camaro has an inductive charger that appears to be too small to charge any induction-chargeable smartphone ever made! Lol.
Love the ending!! You should try the SQ7
The ending was epic!!!
….but Audi fans don’t get besides yourselves, it was a joke. The SQ7 can’t compete in this class, and they even admitted that they’ve never driven one.
But it is still better than all of them more comfortable and easy to live with very good performance high build quality the only car that competes with it is the X7 but it's less reliable and very expensive the audi is the smartest choice
As unreliable as the RR Is, I have to say, it's the nicest looking car here by a mile. I'd take it, and then proceed to get a rental car for the days when I'll get let down with a break down.

How's it the nicest. If I saw that range I'd think it was a 2017 model. It doesn't look futuristic or new. Same with the merc and audi. Thomas is just a huge audi fan and super biased. He even admits that.

cabin noise measured on empty road depends largely on tyres (size and quality). I'd measure it on a busy street/highway, to see how insulated from external non-tyre noises the cars are
The SQ7. That's funny. It's also the one I'd pick if I was shopping these vehicles. Though the SQ5 is plenty big enough for me.
