Thank you for sharing that little bit of history. It's never to late to learn something new.
Thanks Tammy đ
Awesome Museum, I love Pizza Hut..Many Thanks for Sharing!!
Yes!! It's a very small place but cool to see. Thanks for watching đ
That is pretty dang awesome guys. How cool. Sure have missed catching up on your videos. Hope you guys are doing well.
Hello family!! This is so great!! Really nice!! All the best from Spain!!!
Thanks for watching đ
Totally excellent video btw. I love the commecial!!! Didnt white castle also originate in Wichita as well?
Yes, you are correct! Itâs too bad we donât have one anymore though đ
AKA Our Life yes i miss them!!! Well its cool to know i found another Kansas neighbor
Great videođđŒEnjoyed it!! Wish I didn't live so far from Wichita..
Thanks for watching! We were sad to learn that the Pizza Hut founder Frank Carney (who used to be our neighbor) passed away yesterday. The museum tells his story and now will be a nice tribute to his entrepreneurial spirit.
LOL I can imagine Keith working at Pizza Hut:) This was a fun one to watch!!
Ha ha, yep. As a teenager, he bagged groceries. In college, he delivered pizza. His old car never did lose that stale pizza smell, lol! Thanks for watching đ
Pretty cool items! I didnât realize they were around as long as they were!
Steph's Day Off me neither.....
Yes! In fact, one of the founders used to be one of our neighbors! Thanks for watching đ
Wow that first commercial was awesome! Just hilarious! đđ€Ł I didn't know you could still find it on the internet! The first Starbucks that ever opened is here in Seattle, you will have to visit it when you come on your trip later this month! Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Thanks Jeanne! We enjoyed seeing the old commercial too, so funny! It was filmed in Wichita, in a neighborhood not far from here. Iâve heard thereâs usually a huge line at the original Starbucks, but it would be cool to see. We are excited to be there soon and looking forward to meeting you too đ
Too cool, I had no idea Pizza Hut started in Wichita :) It is so small! Pizza Hut is sort of near and dear to our hearts, we had our first "official" date at a local Pizza Hut! That original ad was too funny, LOL! Thanks for sharing guys and have a wonderful and blessed day ---Stacy đâ€
Hi Stacy! How cute that yâall had your first date at Pizza Hut â€ïžđ
When we were dating and Keith delivered pizza, he used to bring me free ones, aww. Who knew pizza could lead to love for both of us, right?! Lol! đ Thanks for watching!!
Hi guys đ. Oh wow, this is really cool! Pizza Hut started in 1958? I didnât know that, itâs the same age as I am! Thatâs a lot of pies!
Haha, I wonder how much that commercial cost to make, lol!
Great video! đđđđđđđ
Awesome! You learn something new every day. Now you'll never forget when Pizza Hut started, lol! That commercial was shot locally, in a neighborhood near our home. I doubt it cost much to make, ha! Thanks for watching đđđ
How fun! The inside of that one reminded me of our Pizza Hut in Montana that I grew up going to đ I love seeing history stuff like that. I didnât used to appreciate it but now that Iâm older I do lol
I know what you mean. Iâve definitely gotten more nostalgic as I get older too. And seeing that vintage stained glass light fixture was like a blast from my past! It was a fun little museum. Thanks for watching đđđ
I was first introduced to Pizza Hut in 1969 when I was six years old. I thought it was a very unique restaurant, with the brick interior walls, and the trapaziodal windows. The thing that I remember most fondly about their original decor is the Early American mate's chairs! The thing that was most striking to me about those chairs was that their solid wood seats were shaped like the body of a guitar! That's a thing about those chairs that most people don't notice. There were two periods when they had those chairs. They had them when I was first introduced to Pizza Hut in 1969, and in 1973, they were changed out for bentwood chairs. But then they went back to the mate's chairs in 1976. They were once again changed out for the bentwood chairs in 1984.
Today, around my dining table, I have four mate's chairs that closely resemble those that Pizza Hut twice had in their old restaurants. I also have a red checkered tablecloth to go with them. Nowadays, because mate's chairs are so hard to come by, I'm a bit particular about how my dinner guest sit in 'em. I appreciate it dearly if they sit up straight, with hips to the spindles. I don't like for them to lean back on two legs, or lounge in the chairs the way they would in an easy chair, or on a sofa. I also don't like for them to push them out from under the table with all of their weight on them. Those are three basic things that are bad for most any kind of wooden dining chair, cause premature weakening, and can potentially break the chair.
Fond of the mate's chair's guitar shaped seat, I have created a fictitious rock musician, who built a bass guitar, using a mate's chair seat for the body. His name is Roggie Garry, and his band is "Soccer Sweat Jam". Their sound is similar to that of Grand Funk Railroad.
Cool ! I love pizza hut :) we have their food on the regular ! And everyone always remembers having celebrations there as kids !
Itâs awesome to think such an iconic business began right here in Wichita! Thanks for watching đ
Thatâs cool that they changed it into a museum! And Keith was a Pizza Hut worker when you met! But did you get free delivery đ€đ€ haha have a great week!
Yes!! It's a tiny museum but pretty cool. And of course I got free pizza đ Why do you think I started dating him?! Lol!! Just kidding! Thanks for watching đ
Awesome video wow a Pizza Hut museum who woulda thought.
Yes, itâs a brand new museum and pretty cool! Thanks for watching đ
I'm going to be in Wichita early next month. Is this easy to get to and is parking readily available?
Yes! Itâs located on the campus of Wichita State University. The museum is closed on weekends though, so make plans to visit on a weekday. There is parking nearby, but if the lot is full thereâs also a Starbucks or Fuzzyâs Taco shop with additional parking within walking distance. Have fun đ
Hey this was awesome I love Pizza Hut. So cool seeing the museum & the commercial at the end was so funny. Hope all is well guy's
Thatâs so cool. Didnât realize how long Pizza Huts been around. Great museum.
Yes! Itâs been here in Wichita continuously since 1958 đ
Thanks for watching đ
Super cool Museum :) Happy tuesday :)
Thanks Yvonne đ
I love pizza and great video Connor đ
Thanks Connor đđ
Thanks for sharing
Thank you đ
You had me at..... PIZZA HUT đđ
Ha ha, thanks for watching đ
Great video. I loved seeing all the old memorabilia and had no idea they made Pizza Hut high top shoes. They turned our Pizza Huts into just pick up centers now. I miss the old lunch time buffets they used to do. Those were the good old days IMO. Now I want some pizza. đ
Wow great museum, we had Pizza Hut restaurants yrs ago but they have all closed down and just become delivery only....used to love going to the restaurant with the ta Le cloths and you can eat pizza as a kid such a treat
Thanks Michael! We have fond memories of those old-school Pizza Hut restaurants with the red checked tablecloths too. Itâs unfortunate theyâre mostly delivery only now đ
Very Cool! đ I put it on my list!
Awesome!! Thanks for watching đ
great job! welcome to wichita!:)
NO WAY! A pizza hut museum?? My guys would love this museum. Pizza Hut tennis shoes...awesome! That park and neighborhood are nice. Bummer that they moved the restaurant though. Great video you two!!
The museum is tiny but fun to see, and itâs free entry which is always nice. The old merchandise was my favorite too. Those sneakers, lol! Thanks for watching đđ
WOW very cool pizza hut museum. this is really fun
Thanks for watching đ
Pizza Hut is very known in Germany. And I have still one shop in my town, but I never use to eat there.
Neat! It's so crazy to think that such an internationally recognized company started in our little city.
Pizza Pete!! Childhood memories thanks for sharing
For sure! Thanks for watching đ
There is one in Flint michigan that I went to a few times...it long since closed
Very interesting - Mahalo! đđ€đŒ
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by our channel!
I like the 1974-1999 logo the best.
Me too.
Same. That's the one I'll always remember.
Me too!
Thats awesome love pizza hut we have only 2 sit down eateries where i live sadly but best pizzas ever
Thanks for watching our video Andrew!
What a great museum; I remember the 1999 to 2014 logo as I grew with it for a long time. I may have to go there at some point - Pizza đ Hut certainly has a lot of great memorabilia. Itâs the best. đŠâš
Thanks for watching! We especially enjoyed seeing the old toys and other memorabilia đ
Wow! Pizza hut . Gr8 enjoy! Stay blessed always. Stay connected .đ
Thank you đ
You two make a great couple. I have enjoyed your videos. I loved Pizza Hut as a kid, especially the Book It! Program, where you got a free personal pan pizza if you read a book and did a book report! Abby your skin always looks so lovely, can I ask what foundation and shade you wear...and if you wear a primer too :) I think I would be about your shade as well!! Thanks for the cool videos!!
Thank you so much!! I wear Clinique "even better refresh" (CN 40 cream) or if I'm going to be outside, I wear L'Oreal Skin Paradise tinted moisturizer with sunscreen (light 01.) Thanks for watching đ
Hey Super cool museum!! They had Pizza Hut high tops?!?! What tha?!? Hahahaha. So neat to know others first jobs. My favorite pizza from Pizza Hut is the deep dish. So buttery and delicious. Mmmm. I just made myself hungry đđ€Łđ
They're "Pie Tops"! They actually connect to the pizza hut app and can order pizza from the shoe. They didn't make very many of them, but it was interesting!
Awkward Bob Oh my gosh, thatâs so silly đđđ
Thanks for watching! It was a tiny museum but neat too see! The old merchandise was my favorite part, so fun! Now Iâm hungry too, ha! đ
Was fun to see the museum đ
Thatâs cool! I wanna visit one day
Thanks for watching đ
Would have never put Keith as a Pizza Hut delivery guy! Loved the tour of the museum! So fun looking at how they have changed over time! Fun fact about the sign only being able to hold 8 letters! Nice job guys!
Ha ha, yep. He worked for another pizza place called Mazzioâs first, then briefly at Pizza Hut. Before that, he bagged groceries. Keith has always been a hard worker. His old car never lost that familiar pizza smell, lol! Thanks for watching đ
That is super cool. Pizza hut holds a lot of special memories for me growing up. I think this may be a trip for me....I live in northeast kansas!
Thanks and welcome to our channel! The museum is tiny, but itâs pretty cool and also free! Stay safe with those storms coming our way today!!
Pizza Pete what a cool looking mascot.
Look like such a cute lil neighborhood.
Thanks for watching JJ! College Hill is a lovely neighborhood, but unfortunately the highway ruined the quaintness of it when they cut it right through. Iâm glad the original Pizza Hut was saved though đ
Those pizza hut shoes are pretty hot :) cool museum all our pizza huts are closed around here. They sure will be missed
Aren't those high tops hilarious?! The museum is tiny but interesting! I think most of our Pizza Hut restaurants are closed too, it's pretty much just delivery places now. Thanks for watching đ
Such a great video!
It is of such high quality that the museum would probably endorse it (that isn't a bad idea).
Do you remember this Pizza Hut Commercial?
czcams.com/video/m9nGCOGP6Og/video.html
Thanks!
I just showed that video to my mom.
We actually went to Pizza Hut for my birthday the other day, which was the same one we went to for parties in the past.
I actually ordered the same thing I remember getting there for the birthday parties in the 80's, which was: Pepsi in a pitcher, cheese sticks, and a Pepperoni Pan Pizza (still in the pan).
It was a great experience with some small differences from the place in the 80's: the drinking cups were different, there were television sets at the corners of the dining areas, and there was no salad bar.
I donât remember that commercial at all, but itâs hilarious! So 80s!! Thanks for sharing! We hope you had a wonderful birthday, sounds great! đ
@@Our80sLife Thank you!
I need those pizza shoes in my life. I feel like a Pizza Hut expert now hah. If only they had historic pizza to sample too!
I'm guessing their original pizza recipe was better than the fast food version they serve nowadays! đThose shoes though, lol!! Thanks for watching đ
Ken worked at Pizza Hut during his college years too. Pretty cool museum. Thatâs funny on how they came up with the name. Oh my, The commercial, pretty funny.
Thatâs cool. Was he a delivery driver like Keith? He decided to look for a different job after getting robbed a couple of times, yikes!! After that he went to work for Blockbuster Video, ha! Those were the good old days, lol! Thanks for watching đ
Yes, a delivery guy. He actually never got robbed but he said somebody shot at his truck when he was delivering in a not so safe neighborhood. đł Definitely not the safest job. Blockbuster was awesome! Yes, those were the good ole days. âșïž
Oh thought Keith just work at Mazzios Pizza back in the days in Nac. Pretty cool of what jobs we did growing up back in school.
Hi Vin! You have a good memory! He worked at Mazzioâs first, then Pizza Hut for a short time before he ended up at Blockbusters. Keith was always a hard-working guy (and still is!) Thanks for watching đ
I had no clue there was a museum. Now I want to eat pizza! Thanks guys! All your vlogs seem to be leaning toward food lately! If only Pizza Hut was not $20 for a Medium in Japan!
Thanks Ryan! Sorry we keep giving you cravings with our food related vlogs đđźđ
Do you get tired of eating Japanese food?! Iâve heard that KFC is very popular there too!
I dont know why but I constantly get cravings for American restaurants and food. I wonder if something is wrong with me. lol KFC is popular but its expensive and I have to limit how much friend food I eat.
Nice video with all that talk about pizza i feeling hungry now.
Thanks Barry đ
Interesting -- I have always wondered what was in that museum.
Itâs very small but worth a visit. And itâs free!!
Full view and like #26 from me!
Ha, yeah, I used to work at Happy Joe's when I was in high school. I think the owner had some bad mental wiring though. (And he weighed probably 400 pounds!)
I like it when the music kicks in at 1:11. ;) It has a real "50's pop" vibe to it.
Hmmm, don't think I've ever heard of Pizza Pete....
That's cool that they have the original recipe there, written on a napkin.
Wow, that car in that commercial... I don't _think_ that's street-legal! haha
All those people chasing that driver... too bad they couldn't use the Benny Hill theme for that! (I might make a video like that!)
Anyway, thank you for sharing, AKA Our Life. Enjoy the rest of your evening!
Thanks for watching! Itâs crazy to see those old pizza pans and original recipe, especially considering how far the company has come in 60 years! Isnât that commercial fun?! It was filmed here in Wichita, in a neighborhood not far from our home. That is a fun style of video! Maybe we should consider it when Keith starts chasing bunnies again, lol! Itâs getting to be rabbit season đ°
Keith chasing rabbits... I look forward to it!
you guys should hit the Kansas Aviation Museum......
Yes we should! Weâve been there before, but itâs been a few years. Cool place! âïž
Thanks for watching đ
How cool a museum for Pizza hut that's so cool
It's a tiny little museum but definitely cool to see! Thanks for watching Amy đ
That was fun. We also had Pizza Hut over here. Haha⊠the end was funny.
Thanks for watching! It's cool to think about the international appeal of Pizza Hut considering its humble beginnings here in our city. We love that old commercial too!
@@Our80sLife I would love a car like that. Nice and easy. Lol.
I worked at a Pizza Hut while in high school to earn some Christmas gift money. The one thing I remember from that job was aerating the dough with something that resembled a garden cultivating tool my grandparents had. Still strange to this day, but decent pizza. Although my hometown certainly had far better choices. đđ
Interesting! That's called "docking" when you poke little holes in the pizza crust to keep it from bubbling up in the oven. I do it when I make homemade crust, but I just stab it with a fork... I don't have the fancy tool, lol!
@@Our80sLife I obviously know nothing about baking or cooking.
@@JeepTJWheelin đ€Ł
@@Our80sLife I like how you politely said interesting! My wife would have said, you idiot, it's so the crust doesn't bubble. đ
ha how cool is that didnt even know they had one. hey hope you guys have been safe up that way heard about some Tornadoes.
Yes!! The museum just opened this week, very exciting! We are doing fine, last night we just had bad thunderstorms. It's looking like rain now, but not severe â Thanks!!
Pizza Hut was co-founded by two brothers, Dan Carney and Frank Carney. Frank Carney retired from his job at Pizza Hut and, in an ironic twist, worked for Pizza Hut's rival Papa John's Pizza as a franchisee...
I never would have guessed it was a Kansas original!
wichita facts:) wichita is the air capital of the world, we have many different aircraft plants.. white castle, pizza hut and freddy's frozen custard started here. kirstie alley was born here.. I worked for kirstie! ive also worked on the carney's house (founder of pizza hut). they are all still in wichita! the koch brothers are also from here! just stopping in with a few "wow in wichita?!" :)
Great video I normally get pizza for my daughter for pizza because they have a gluten free pizza and it's not bad
Thanks for watching! I have to eat gluten free too. It can be a bit tricky, but Iâm finding more and more places that can accommodate my diet.
Wow Pizza Hut has changed quite a lot since then. Aww you meet in Pizza Hut?! Bit personal but who said "will you be my gf/bf" first?
Thanks for watching Chinazo! When we met, we were neighbors. Keith asked me out on a date to the movies. But of course, he often brought me free pizza đ
Oooh
Awsome
I need this music thoooo help
Task Manager The music in this video is from DJ Quads on SoundCloud. Heâs amazing!! Sorry Iâm not sure of the songâs name though. Itâs been a while since we made this video. Thanks for watching đ
I live near Wichita so I could go to the original Pizza Hut!
Saludos desde MĂ©xico un empleado de pizza Hut đČđœ
gracias y saludos desde estados unidos :)
beautiful history, the museum is beautiful, I did not know the history, met through mc donalds, very cool, I live in Brazil is my dream this place there and mc donalds, and you have also have beautiful eyes I liked
Hey since you used to work there is there any way you can make the recipe of the original thin crust they had when they only sold the small medium and large pizza's? Post a video of it?
This was before they started in on the Pan Pizza all you could get was regular hand tossed OR a thin crust that was so airy, crunchy and delicious. When the pepperoni used to be under a thin covering of cheese "Not sitting bare on top" and they used the little sausage bits sprinkled when you ordered sausage not the thick pieces of sausage. This crust was to die for and today's pizza hut has TOTALLY ruined there pizza on all fronts. It is unrecognizable and very bad tasting.
Hi there, thanks for watching our video! Unfortunately, I don't know the crust recipe since I was only a delivery driver back in the day. We did make a video of the original sauce recipe though. Here's a link to that video in case you missed it: czcams.com/video/tymWuID-AAA/video.html
@@Our80sLife Thanks
The same can be said for blockbuster video stores I miss blockbusters Netflix sucks
We totally agree! In fact, I used to work at Blockbuster back in the day. We've made a couple of videos about Blockbuster Video, if you're interested: ABANDONED BLOCKBUSTER czcams.com/video/ZZQTgKihfn0/video.html and here's one about the ORIGINAL BLOCKBUSTER czcams.com/video/OMKLTrJMJw8/video.html

AAAH Pizza Hut,sure!
BUTâŠ
What about Pizza Inn???
Yeah,Pizza Inn,a lovely copycat, there is one in Fort Worth still.
Itâs a good pie.
Also,remember âShakeyâsâ?
Or âPipe organ pizzaâ?
Thereâs one in Dallas,I forget its name, but it has a movie theater that shows cartoons!
Do you know the name?
Actually, maybe it was âShakeyâsâ,I canât remember!!!!!
OmG,here I am again, but just to say that I LOVE that old Pizza Hut commercial!!!!!!!!
Oh we both loved Pizza Inn too! And Pipe Organ Pizza was awesome!! The one with the movie theater was Crystal's Pizza, loved that place too!
AAAH! Crystalâs pizza! Yes!!!
Gosh,the old Bugs Bunny toons,and woody woodpecker,toons.
Well thatâs not 80âs,itâs the 40âs and 50âs,but they were the cartoon language of the day!
That is a very cool place but that is one pizza you couldn't sell me for half price I have never liked Pizza Hut pizza worst Pizza on the planet LOL
I hear ya! There are definitely better brands, and we havenât eaten there for years because they donât have gluten free options. Iâm sure it was much better tasting in the early days when they made everything from scratch. Thanks for watching đ
What's with Pizza Pete? Is he a cowboy wearing a skirt? An Italian guy wearing a cowboy hat with a skirt on? Why wouldn't he be carrying the words pizza and hut on a pizza tray instead of being on strings?
All valid questions, LOL!! I think it's supposed to be an apron, but it definitely looks like a skirt, ha ha! Thanks for watching our video!
