    SUMMARY:
    - Always start with connecting the laptop to the charger, then the plug to the outlet and only then turn the laptop on.
    - If you frequently use your laptop while it’s plugged in, it’s a good idea to take out the battery after you’ve charged it to about 50-60%.
    - Impatience gives your computer too much pressure it can’t handle, causing the operating system to freeze and the distortion of data.
    - It’s not just the grid to blame for power surges, lightning can give you a hard time as it sends its pulses through cables and even phone wires.
    - Remember, your computer needs an effective cooling system. Otherwise, you’re at risk of overheating and the interrupting functionality.
    - For the operating system to run smoothly for many years, give it the treatment it deserves.
    - Sleep and hibernation are only good when you’re using the gadget at home and don’t like to constantly wait for the system to fully boot (although it’s worth doing it from time to time).
    - One thing that your laptop and computer both have in common is that they hate the Sun. Obviously, it can cause problems with overheating, and its rays can slowly, but surely, kill your display.
    - What do the cables and power cords of your laptop look like? If they’re all twisted and bent or wrapped around something to keep them bundled, don’t expect them to serve you a long time.
    - Heat is your laptop’s worst enemy, so keep your gadget cool on a flat and firm surface.
    - When your power supply burns or gets lost, don’t go for a cheaper version or borrow your friend’s old charger to save money.
    - If your disk is full but you don’t think you have too many programs installed, try using some tools that delete rarely used and temporary files.
    - Ammonia-based, alcohol-containing substances can seriously damage the anti-reflective coating of your screen and shorten its lifespan.
    - Whenever it’s possible, turn off the sound, keyboard backlight, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi if you can work offline.

There is a lot of inaccurate and outdated information in this video.
14: Well built power supplies don’t have this problem. Many of us have been connecting our laptops this way for years without issue. Modern power supplies even mostly shut down automatically with no load.
13: Modern laptops have better management that can cycle the battery when it’s full. Also, some laptops are so light that they rely on the battery to keep them upright. Not all laptops let you easily remove the battery, either.
12: Only in rare cases will trying to do something “too soon” cause issues. For most of us, it’s fine.
11: power strips don’t offer any real surge protection, and by the time there is a surge, it would have been too late for you to cut power anyway. If you’re worried about lightning, just unplug it.
10: this one about placement and ventilation is ok
9: ok, software maintenance is important, but registry editing is not recommended for the average user.
8: sleep and hibernation modes were specifically made for laptops, so people could transport them without having to wait for a full boot up. Both modes shut down mechanical devices. Also, hibernation is exactly the same as shutting it down, as far as the hardware is concerned.
7: exposing to sunlight - ok
6: mangling the cables - ok
5: mostly ok except for coolers. Unless the laptop is poorly designed, it should cool itself just fine on a flat surface.
4: cheap power supply - ehhh I’ll give you this one.
3: more and more laptops are coming with solid state drives, making fragmentation a non-issue. Running defrag tools on an SSD is not recommended.
    2: cleaning - ok
1: why would keeping headphones plugged in to the analog audio output when there’s no audio, pull any power? The only way I can think of is if they have a also have a condenser microphone built in.

Lithium ion batteries will lose their capacity if they are kept near 0% or 100% for long. Not sure how the chemistry works but they go under some kind of non reversible reaction which decreases the charge holding capacity. My asus laptop has a software where I can set the max battery level to 60% when I'm using it in always plugged in mode. I think that would increase battery life.

moving your computer around in sleep mode has actually become less harmful in recent years thanks to solid state drives becoming the norm. They have no moving parts and therefore cannot become damaged by getting jostled around. It's the same with disk fragmentation, and in fact with SSDs you actually DON'T want to do anything about this because the drive does wear leveling on purpose which purposely fragments the drive to prevent one NAND cell from getting written to more often than another so that cells on the drive don't start dying prematurely as SSD NAND cells actually have a limited number of write cycles before they die. On top of this, defragmenting the drive would just cause the drive to get worn out faster because to relocate the data the drive controller has to zero out the one bit and write a one to another bit just causing both of those bits to have one less write cycle available before they die.

Also, remember to regularly smear your keyboard in Vaseline. Keyboards work much better when they're adequately lubricated. Once you've wiped the Vaseline off, put the laptop in a bucket of water. Just as water helps plants to grow, water will allow your laptop's operating system to upgrade itself organically. You'll be running Windows 11 before all your friends. They'll be so jealous!

I think some of the tips are for a laptop from the 1990`s, for example, you can leave the battery inside the laptop while the charger is connected because modern laptops have an option to turn off battery charging, and if you have an SSD, you can carry your laptop in hibernation or sleep mode because it won`t affect it at all, this maybe applies to HDD. And it makes no difference if you connect the power supply to the laptop after you plugged it in. The PC still needs some time to turn on after the welcome message ? Yeah, if your booting from a floppy disk :) Ever heard of SSD NVMe ? You should try it.

    1. Batteries are not removable anymore and it's 2019, voltage regulators make it mostly unnecessary.
    2. Sleep mode may be harmful (not sure), but hibernate is not harmful at all. When you hibernate your computer, the system copies your entire RAM in a compressed manner to your hard disk, then actually shuts down and loads it back on boot. So while the laptop is hibernated, it's drawing 0 power, just like a shut down.

Sleep mode is only harmful if your battery is bad or something software-wise is wrong. With everything working properly, if your laptop is sleeping and the battery drains to a certain level, the laptop is supposed to wake up, long enough to properly enter hibernation (or shut down if you disable hibernation).

when you plug the brick in the outlet with the laptop connected, the laptop sees the voltage from zero volts initially up to the right level. i do not know if that has effect on the laptop, but i suspect it does stress the brick (but propeely designed one will not matter).

#6 once I had my cords all intangled that my speakers were playing radio with all the plugs pulled out hahaha.
you definitely have a point about the wires wearing out but also interference is a big factor aswell

Is it ok for me to use a gaming laptop 24/7 with its battery untakeable out? (and i dont have any sort of liquid that cleans the screen without damaging it so is it also fine for me to just clean it with my hand or something?)

I strongly doubt the battery trick. That issue with batteries tend to be less valid these days as batteries become more smart and manage energy themself for self preservation. It is the same with smartphones. That's also the reason why certain constructors don't make removable batteries any more.

Never use a Laptop on your bed without having something in between like a fan onboard a laptop stand.
The covering on the bed will amplify the heat

We keep all our laptops plugged in to the power source all the time. We don’t remove our batteries. All laptop batteries are still running strong after 5+ years!

If your laptop is heating so much, take it to technician and ask him to clean the fan and apply new cooling paste to CPU.
