You did it again! Every time I watch your videos I get hungry even if I just ate! Thanks again for another soothing , relaxing video. A nice alternative to Thai beef salad for sure. In USA we pronounce cilantro with a SOFT C as if it were an S , just saying.

It looks super delicious. Definitely will make it this weekend. I just need to get a few more ingredients that i don't have right now, like lemon grass, mint leaves and hopefully I'll be able to find that Thai Chilli Paste seasoning. We only have a very small Asian grocery where I'm at right now.

My dear friend, I hope you're well. 😊 I'm currently battling a migraine, but I knew a video from you would be the perfect thing while I'm waiting for the meds to kick in. (Don't worry, I'll be fine in a few).
It always amazes me to see how shrimp and other shellfish are eaten around the world. I've seen people leave the tails on like you did, but just use it to grab and hold as they eat the meat and toss the shell part away. I've seen others eat the entire thing, shells and all.
Here in Louisiana we eat many different kinds of shellfish, but most are completely peeled. Shrimp, crawfish, crab, oysters, etc. Unfortunately I've decided to stop eating most of them due to starting to develop allergies to them. My Mom found out that she developed an allergy and can't even be in a place where they're being cooked. My brother and I have recently started having the reactions as well, (mine currently is itching around my mouth, and nose feels funny), and my daughter is starting enough that she's decided to stop also before it gets too bad. My son is ok so far.
It really sucks living in Louisiana and not being able to enjoy a crawfish or shrimp boil, and all of the shellfish dishes that are so popular here!!
Thank you again, so very much for my weekly therapy session!! 😂 I appreciate it so much!!
Sending love as always from Baton Rouge!! 💙💙

Good morning Altaira, I hope you're feeling better and wish you a speedy recovery.
I've heard that Louisiana's food culture is robust. I'd love to go there one day and try all of the different seafood options. Several of my family members have developed shellfish allergies as well. It's awful!

A lovely and beautiful salad. Can you steam the prawns rather than boil them. Steaming would retain more flavour, what do you think?as always a fantastic video with beautiful background music. Great job 👏

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  Před 2 lety +1

I've never tried steaming them for this recipe but I'm sure you can. The boiling process is not too long so not much flavor is lost fortunately. Thank you so much for tuning and watching the video. It means a lot. Have a great weekend!

    My take on his recipe:
SPICY THAI SHRIMP SALAD | PLA GOONG
    INGREDIENTS
    • Large Shrimp - 1 lb or 454 g
    • Lemongrass Slices (Lower Half of Stalk) - 4.5 tbsp
    • Kaffir Lime Leaves Slices - 1.5 tbsp
    • Shallots - 2 small bulbs
    • Red & Green Chilis - 16 chilis total (or as much as you'd like)
    • Thai Chili Paste/Jam (Nam Prik Pao) - 3 tbsp
    • Sugar - 1 tbsp
    • Fish Sauce - 3 tbsp
    • Lime Juice - 4.5 tbsp
    • Culantro - 3 stems
    • Mint - 1 cup
    Directions
Thinly slice lower half of lemongrass stalks
Roll lime leaves and slice thinly
Thinly slice shallots and red and green chillies. Chop mint and culantro
    Clean and deshell shrimp
Bring water to boil over medium heat. Add shrimp - don’t overcook! Add to ice water
Make sauce: chilli paste, sugar, fish sauce and lime juice. Mix well
Add all aromatics, sauce and shrimp and mix well.
Can be eaten at room temp or cold
    Serve with rice
