The way Dominique Fishback was able to deliver such an unhinged, emotional, and complex performance that intensified with every episode is just ICONIC. Watching her performance throughout the series left me mentally and psychologically drained. Just give her ALL of the awards at this point.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Ppl are split on the ending, but for me it works so well because after ep 6 showed the reality of what happened with Dre and ep 7 shows her delusion reaching a peak. Her guilt over not answering Marissa's call fucked with her head so badly. Dominique NEEDS to get an emmy nomination.
I kinda wish they would have switched episode 7 and episode 6 around cause having the delusion be the ending was confusing. I wish it would have had the detective show as like an after the first 48 type of thing. I want to know if they'll use the delusion to set up next season if there is one tho.
I think it also parallels the love she has for Ni'jah is the same obsessive and protective love she had for Marissa
I love the repetition of “who’s your favourites artist” and that sinking feeling that we all knew some crazy shit was about to happen😭 it’s like in the Scream franchise “what’s your favourite scary movie”
I really pray that Donald Glover has plans to work in the horror film industry because, with his unhinged and eccentric perspective, he would THRIVE there. Can you imagine if he collaborated with Jordan Peele to make a horror film?! It would THEE cultural reset for the horror genre and would leave all of the horror film studios quaking in their boots.
They are both really reinventing horror with a black mindset and experience in mind and it's amazing, like even in the documentary episode where the lady detective said she knew she was dealing with a black woman because of the products left at the scene? Wonderful lol

Donald needs to fix his derogatory views towards DSBW first … after that we may have a shot. He likes to portray them as angry, illogical, or animalistic in his shows (he even told Dominique in this role to stop looking for any nuance in her character & to just be an animal)

In episode 6, the detective said she got arrested for going on the stage so in the end, Dre likely was really hallucinating and was really getting escorted off into a cop car.

I binged this all over a couple of days. We all should get used to saying Emmy Winner Dominique Fishback, she was absolutely fantastic as Dre, her facial expressions sell the entire thing. Billie Eilish could also be on her way to adding an E to her GO, so all she’d have left would be her Tony.
Fun fact: Malia Obama helped write the teleplay for the fifth ep & Donald’s brother Stephen helped write the sixth, clearly making brilliant bottle eps runs in the family.

Don’t quote me but it’s something like people with English accents flatten or relax their tongues to have an American accent. So it’s much easier for them.

This is almost a year old but I find Dre more similar to Patty from insatiable Debby Ryan’s character. Both emotionally eat after they kill or do a crime and use food as a coping mechanism. Both had been badly bullied making them the person they are now.
Extremely obsessive.
Queer coded friendship even know patty’s friend was more gay for her than the ladder.
Both are impulsive with their decisions.
Got away with murder for way too long despite how sloppy they can be.
Basically, episodes 6 and 7 are reversed. The "man who got arrested going to ni'jah's stage" was andrea herself, the rest is her imagination

Dominique Fishback, Donald Glover, and Janine Nabers all deserve Emmys! I was also pleasantly surprised by Billie Eilish. I thought she was just stunt casting but she really delivered eerie/unsettling. I agree that this stan level is giving current day barb, but to my understanding this was meant to have been during the lemonade era (with some renaissance mixed in for recognizability) and I remember the hive being classified as an actual "terr0rist organization" because of the level of insanity. Overall I thought this was brilliant, but the hive member in me hopes and prays Bey signed off on this.

I think a happy ending would have felt out of place in this show. Dre has killed multiple innocent people over her obsession and has exhibited violent tendencies since childhood. Falling in love wouldn’t magically cure her deep mental issues. I liked the gf but I knew Dre snapping on her was inevitable.

She was imagining Marissa comforted her and kinda forgave her for killing her, maybe? Haha, sorry for so many comments but I got excited; the show is so well done.
