Localization methods: SLOB technique and applications

  • The SLOB technique or Buccal object rule is an important localization method frequently used in endodontics and oral surgery. Simply stated: when a radiograph is taken from a specific angulation (mesial or distal), the lingual object will always be located on the same side as the X-ray cone. The routine use of this rule has expanded significantly over the years. this technique can and must be applied each time the spatial location of two
    anatomical entities or structures, one buccal and the other lingual or palatal, must be determined.
