It takes a lot of time and dedication. Think about it it, you're basically writing a whole book but instead of words which are difficult enough you have to write every little bit of physics, rules, and graphical dimensions down for an entire little miniture world.

It might sound a bit funny or ridiculous but roblox (yes the game for kids) can be an option. It won't compare with the other platforms in the video but it might be easier. Roblox uses lua for coding games and has its own system of building. If you sell items on your game or make it pay to play you can earn in game currency which can be transferred into irl money. Some people have made a lot of money this way. The con is that the game will indeed look blocky but it is supposed to be for beginners.
You can also upload games to Xbox one, VR, mobile and in the future, PS4 so keep that in mind.
HugoRBLX I wouldn't reccomend roblox to be honest, Since you can't earn profit from it.

Even if you aren't great at scripting or building, there are free models. The basics of ROBLOX Studio is easy to learn. I have that sorted. It's the scripting that gets me.

Some game developers will actually take you in as a junior artist, you just have to know where and how to look. Some companies will take you in without having several years of game development and shipped titles if you’re good enough. There’s a company in Orlando who will hire two junior artists for every senior they take in

Love that there was not a single word on "Learn to code" Which I've spent the past 5 years learning to do so I can actually make my own games.
Although, with certain engines like Game maker there is very little coding skill required. Made my first game in that couple years ago.

OK, he makes it seem so easy, but this takes a loooooooooong time. With character design and coding. Coding branches off into mechanics, software and hardware, and character design goes off into things like animation and NPC codes. I want to make a game, but it'll take about 8 months if I'm lucky

I'd advise starting small. Like REALLY small. Make a game in a week. Then another game in a week. Make a few extremely simple games, and then you can start making a few games that take up to a month, then some games that take 3-6 months, then some games that take up to a year. Too many people have this "GREAT" idea in their head. They start on it, realize that making their game is too hard, and then they give up on the game entirely. You're not going to be able to make a fully fledged AAA RPG as your first game, simply because you are inexperienced

You need to make sure to listen to the people that play, read reviews, make consistent updates where you fix bugs and add new features.

Learn C sharp as it is used on most indie games and will manage RAM for you without you having to read how to do it yourself. But feel free to start with Lua. You can ask me anything I have been making games for a while and most of them are ok.

At 1:02 it said that to join a game company you had to have experience with making games and that made me confidant to start making games and I'm still making games. At the time when I watched this I was 10 years old, I'm 13 now and I have learned a lot and I've used tons of game engines, programming languages, and made many games, none I've released but that doesn't matter I am achieving my dream and if you are in the same situation as I was and you really want to join a gaming company, WORK HARD, find a programming language, watch CZcams tutorials, and achieve your dream just like I am.

This feels like an over simplification, he his all the major points but he doesn’t talk about all the hours you have to put into making a game, the creator of cave story make that game completely by himself in the span of 3 years. He also doesn’t talk about how you’ll be fixing game breaking bugs the majority of the time. I’m learning how to make 3D assets for video game production and have already make my first game while still in school. 13 guys working on it over 5 weeks, 5 clocked days a week, 10 hour days. Don’t get me wrong, game making is amazingly fun to do but I just want you all to know from someone who’s going to be in the business in a couple weeks.
